Lake Mary Shell

Extremely expensive gas...Maybe it's because it is Heathrow. The only reason I would put fuel here is because I forgot to do it back home and I am running on empty on my way to work.

I recently had some work done at Lake Mary Shell. I asked in advance for an estimate and was told they couldn't give one until it was on the rack. I knew it was about a 10-minute job once on the rack so I brought it in my car with the appropriate part and left the car. Later I get a call from Tommy saying it would be at least $150 to even put it on the rack. Had I been told this earlier, I would have done it myself or taken it somewhere else. Since the car was already there and I just wanted it fixed, I reluctantly approved this exorbitant charge. I got a call back about 15 minutes later saying the work was done. If we assume a few minutes to get the car and put it on the rack, this still equates to a shop labor rate of roughly $600/hour. $110 to $125 is typical for a non-dealer repair. What a rip-off!

So I go pick the car up and expect to pay the $150 I was quoted. I'm not happy and just pay my bill with a credit card and leave. When I get home I see an additional charge was added. It was not a large amount but this was work I did not request or approve. Further, it was not even mentioned to me by Tommy.

We already know their gas prices are much higher than any gas station on the other side of I-4 and that's okay. I can decide whwre I want to buy my gas and the proce per gallon is (by law) posted. BUT I didn't know what a rip-off their services are. They are trying to be a community garage. We could use a good one but Lake Mary Shell isn't it. This business will not see a dime of my money as long as Tommy works there.

I have been going to them since my company moved down the street in the 90's. I, seriously, cannot say enough good things about this repair shop. I literally trust them with my life every time I drive and they have never, ever, done me wrong.

They have saved me thousands of dollars over the years and you can pick up your vehicles until 11 PM at night. This is great when you have to work late.

They do it right and they always make it right... they also don't hit you with a "would you like fries with that" situation every time you are there like some places. They work with you to fit your pocketbook and time frame. I WON'T take my car any where else. Yay Dave and Tommy!

These people take pride in their business. This place is immaculate. Best gas stationed I have ever visited. Wish they expanded a bit and also had a convenience store.

This gas station is located in the heart of Heathrow and the reason for the higher prices on the gas. But this is the only gas station in the area (west of I-4). This location is staffed with full time auto repair mechanics. The waiting area and restrooms are always very clean. It's worth it to pay and extra few cents for great service.

Lake Mary Shell has been the place I trust to work on my cars for well over a decade. They give you honest information and advice about what's going on with your car, try to talk you out of repairs when they're unneeded or not worth it, and go out of their way to help you out when you have a tough problem. Everything they've ever done for me has actually fixed the problem and been done correctly. That's more than I can say for any of the dealers I've been to, including a high-end one in town.

As some folks have mentioned their prices are the same or close to what a dealer would charge. But, after one of the chain auto shops made a mess of my truck (that Lake Mary Shell went out of their way to untangle for me) I don't mind paying for competent service. Their gas prices are high too but not outrageous. It's because they're in an out-of-the-way location and don't have a convenience store. At least they're there if you need them.
