On January 21st, we purchased a new vehicle after a friend of my husband's recommended going to Kenny Ross Subaru when he was interested in purchasing a new-to-him CRV as a daily driver. We were greeted promptly by John, and ended up working with Vinnie. Both guys were really friendly. After searching through some vehicles, my husband decided a 2016 CRV that they came across would be a good fit. Vinnie went up to Aunt Penny's (since it was not on the lot) and we all went for a test drive. After he decided to purchase the car, we were sent to work with Dave, who handles financing. Dave showed us some videos of popular add ons and features, and my husband was only interested in an extended warranty. Dave did not seem pushy, and it seemed like a fairly painless process. The only thing he did ask, however, was for us to rate him on Google while we were going over paperwork.
Fast forward until the next day: my husband went over his paperwork again as he was filing it, and noticed a ton of charges that were unfamiliar. Among these charges were roadside assistance, some kind of key replacement plan, and gap insurance (just to name a few). He did not consent to these, so he called first thing Monday morning. He was unable to get ahold of Dave, so he reached out to John, and Dave called him back days later. When he finally did call, he was very difficult to deal with, trying to talk my husband out of changing his mind and keeping the unwanted charges. My husband declined, and Dave, who was obviously irritated with this, said he would send out new paperwork to be signed, and threw in a facetious remark saying "I'm a notary. Don't worry it'll be free." As of today, February 26th (a MONTH later)the paperwork has yet to arrive.
Even worse- and most importantly-the brakes shouldn't have passed inspection. The day we test drove the car, it was freezing so we didn't have the windows down, and Vinnie was talking in the car with us the entire time so we couldn't hear any external noise. The front pair barely passed inspection, and the back were metal on metal. Passing a car with brakes in this condition is illegal in Pennsylvania, and there's absolutely no way this car should've been sold prior to having a change of brakes. The car was only inspected in January 2023 (same month as he purchased it), and how someone overlooked this HUGE safety hazaard befuddles me. The screeching became increasingly louder over the next few days when weather permitted us to roll down the windows, and luckily, we caught before anyone was seriously injured or killed.
John is aware of the brake situation, but it took almost a month of my husband trying to get ahold of Dave for him to call today. He had no idea what the situation was about, according to the voicemail he left.
We are super disappointed in how our experience went, and will never again purchase from- or recommend- Kenny Ross Subaru.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thomas Y.PA, PA011Aug 21, 2023
Where do I start?
I bought a 2016 wrx with 110k miles off these guys! Recipe for disaster right? That couldn't be farther from the truth! These guys will bend over backwards and walk across a tight rope blindfolded for you.
My first issue came with a clutch that needed replaced within the first 3000 miles I put on the car. Used car, bought as is. I knew what I was getting into, yet they still helped me out a ton. Talked with Howard (service manager) we worked out a deal and the car was fixed, got a loaner. Fast and timely! Very well done!
Second issue came with a blown motor after putting roughly 10k miles on the car (less than a year of ownership). David Who is a finance manager suggested I buy a warranty from their reputable 3rd party company GWC. Huge shout out to David D for recommending this because they covered the replacement fully. Minus some small things here and there. I was in contact with Mike D a service manager here who was very helpful throughout the entire process. Called me and kept me well informed about the car. Along with Jake K, who was also very helpful in getting me in touch with the correct people I had to talk to! However at the end of the project I was told there was an engine mount that would need replaced/welded after the car was released. Long story short. The service team realized a mistake/misunderstanding was made, they took full accountability and we came to an agreement for repairs that had to be made!
I am very thankful for the entire team over at Subaru in North Huntington for helping me throughout my entire experience with them! I will be returning to them for everything! Very satisfied customer 10/10Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eric B.Pittsburgh, PA0111Nov 27, 2023

I would not recommend Kenny Ross Subaru to anyone. I leased a car, a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport, 2 years and 8 months ago. I told the salesperson, Joshua Peters, while there yesterday, November 15, 2023, I just wanted to see what my options were as far as leasing another car, buying out my leased car, or buying a new car. Then I would think it over and make my decision. He immediately asked if I had my car registration with me. For what reason? He was trying to close a deal yesterday. He wanted to sell me a top-of-the-line Subaru. First, let me say my Crosstrek that I had leased did not have 5,200 miles on it. It looks brand new. I kept it in a garage and always keep it clean. I have WeatherTech FloorLiners in the car. I get it detailed several times a year. He went and talked to the manager and then came back and made me a lowball offer, all things considered. He thought I was there to be taken advantage of. I said no. Now, the manager came, John Petrovich, and said that offer was for "one day only". I am a female but I am not stupid. Then Joshua drove another car to the front for me. I wanted to look in the lot at other cars but I never had a chance. I asked if I could drive the car he wanted me to buy. He asked where do you want to go? What? He got in the back seat and said I could drive it around the lot. When I leased my other car, they insisted I drive it first. I was there for over 2 hours and actually felt sick by the time I left. If I heard one more time from either of them that they had to "MAKE THEIR NUMBERS" yesterday, I was going to be sick. They repeatedly told me I had to make my decision yesterday. They only had one car in "that color". I never wanted green! The manager told me they wouldn't make their bonuses yesterday because of me. If I hadn't walked in yesterday, what were they going to do about their numbers and bonuses? They were so HIGH PRESSURE that I don't want to deal with either of them again. When the manager saw I was leaving, he then made a better offer. Funny how that worked. I was so disgusted with them that I don't ever want to do business with them again. This is why people don't like car salespeople. Maybe it is time they learn "high pressure" tactics chase people away. I will turn my keys in at the end of the lease and go somewhere else. I told them that and that is when the manager, John Petrovich, made the better offer. If you want to be pressured and lied to, go to Kenny Ross Subaru and ask for those two people. It was the worst experience I ever had at a car dealership!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1261812383Mar 12, 2021
Well I cannot speak to the sales experience here and really these dealerships on Yelp should have 2 separate listings one for service and one for sales. From all the other reviews you couldn't pay me to come deal with their sales staff. Luckily I didn't. I came to their service department after finding on Facebook an ad they listed for a totally free state inspection and emissions test.
I will be honest there was quite a hard time getting in touch with them to confirm the offer and set an appointment. I commented and they said to message them. I messaged them and the person who got back to me first was unsure of the offer at first and then said they would get back to me. Took a few more tries and a phone call before I was told they would call me to set an appointment.
I had a pleasant call from one of their service advisors scheduling my appointment. All my info I gave in messenger was apparently not even remotely transmitted to her but all good I was able to look everything up on the fly. She confirmed it was free and would send me a email with appointment. I received the email but it showed that the free inspection was for customers who purchased their vehicle from them but showed cost for the emissions test.
I called and the first service advisor I spoke to said yes that it would cost for the emissions test. I told him about the Facebook offer and they had no knowledge of it. I said ok thanks and hung up. Got ahold of their FB team and they said the offer was very real. I called again and spoke to Jake who was aware of the offer and confirmed everything.
I came in for inspection and the setup they have is really nice. Snacks and water and coffee. Dual tvs and a nice kids entertainment room. I was really impressed with that. They failed my new 2019 vehicle because of the garbage license plate issued by the state had its cheap laminate came off. By state law they are supposed to pass it for inspection and fill out the form for a free plate to be reissued by the state. However because of double talk listed by the state they use it to call the plate "obscured" at a distance of 10 feet. I drove an hour for that nonsense. The vehicle was safe and passed on all other accounts... They told me any notary public or state police could fill out the form and get me my new plate.
I left and called the state police barracks of Greensburg. They said they could not help me. I called a notary and was told they could do it but it would be 30+ minutes before they opened. I said ok and went to get breakfast. I took a bit then headed over to the notary. She took my info and told me she would have to get me a new plate. She finalized everything and then proceeds to tell me it will be almost $80.00. I paid and went back to the dealership. They were kind of shocked to see me. I told them I had gotten a new plate and wanted the sticker applied as that was the only reason it failed to pass. It still took them another 30 minutes to apply a sticker and get it finished up. In the meantime I used the states website on the license plate issue and found that they shouldn't of failed it. Literally on the state's own website in clear and plain English it said it could not be failed for the plate peeling... The master tech Mike printed out his guidelines from PA and showed where if a plate is obscured it fails. I personally think they are following that guideline incorrectly when the state's website says in plain English it cannot be failed for that reason. I was done arguing and being out $80 plus gas, tolls, and half my work day I just wanted to go home. What do I know I guess.
Overall, I may use them again. Not sure. At least the inspection and emission offer was real. Honestly I cannot say it was worth all the hassle.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Beth M.Gibsonia, PA055Aug 9, 2019
On very rare occasions do I write a negative review, but my experience at this dealership was deceitful and odd to say the least. After finding a vehicle I really liked at a price I loved on a Saturday, I'd agreed with my salesman to come do the paperwork and pick my car up on Monday after they'd had a chance to install a hitch and clean it up for me. My salesman assured me I'd be in and out in no time.
When I arrived Monday, my salesman was out for the day. No big deal. After meeting with another salesman, they had a hard time finding my car, and so I did financial work with Mr Valentine who assured me all the work that needed completed, including the hitch installation, had been done. (Another note: when I declined the expanded warranty his tone had changed significantly. At first he'd tried selling me an additional warranty for $2200; but when I said no, he dropped it to $1700... how is that possible?)
After waiting nearly two hours for my vehicle, it was finally ready and I was ready to get home, only to find after my hour long drive that there was not a hitch installed. Aggravated due to my hour long commute each way, I texted the sales person who'd helped me that day and he also said they'd "hook me up".
I emailed my sales person and received the response attached; regarding my hitch that he was "going to give me out of his storage unit." What?! Strange at best. After a few follow up emails, you guessed it, no hitch, no return calls, but my check sure did clear no problem.
From a salesman who told me he'd have everything ready to go (apparently with a hitch from his storage unit) to a financial manager who can knock $500 off a warranty AND promises work has been done without verification, ("hitch was installed, yep") to poor all around follow up I can say with confidence I'll never shop Kenny Ross again.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Andrew L.Los Angeles, CA27271Jan 14, 2022

Best car buying experience ever. Seriously.
I've bought numerous cars in my lifetime. No joke, this was the best experience ever.
I am new to this area and had no idea of where to go to purchase a vehicle. I kept an eye out on the road noting the license guards on peoples cars. Interestingly, there were a lot of Kenny Ross' out there. Even miles away... So, after a "meh" experience with a big name dealership while shopping around in the nearby area, I decided to make that trek down south. Boy am I glad!
My sales guy, Marty, was phenomenal. He's not pushy nor is he greasy/sleazy. He's just very professional and goes above and beyond. He's someone who won't play the game of low balling people. He knows you need/want a car and he wants to sell. He'll work with you alongside jayson their finance guy. There's two Jason's/jaysons there. Both are very nice.
Bottom line. I saved $2250 in comparison to my first dealership experience in pittsburgh. The first one was telling me he doesn't have to do anything, the car sells itself. Well, news flash, it doesn't. You can't place a dollar amount of this brand/dealership loyalty that the people at Kenny Ross has just planted in me on my first week in Pittsburgh.
Bottom line. There are a lot of dealerships out there. There will be good ones and bad ones. I'm just attesting to one good experience where you don't feel like you were totally robbed. Try it out. Hope you have as good as an experience as I have had.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I came to Kenny Ross looking for a new Subaru. I was working with a salesperson and when I told him that I would not be able to deal with them because of:
1. Their Better Business Bureau rating
2. Complaints that were on that website and bad reviews but I had seen on the internet
3. Because my husband didn't want to buy from them because his father had purchased a car there over 10 years ago
4. We did not tell them this, but we know two people who are currently dealing with Kenny Ross service under warranty and have not been getting decent resolution to their problems.
The salesman, instead of accepting that I did not want to deal with Kenny Ross, immediately called my husband to discuss the situation with him.
My husband had never even met this person and I was doing all of the research on the vehicle because it's MY car that we were replacing.
This salesman went over my head after I told him that we did not want to do business with them and called my husband. I would never do business with his organization again and I went to a different Subaru dealership yesterday (#1 Cochran Subaru in Monroeville) and today I have my new car.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

JB, We are disappointed to hear we were not able to help you with your new vehicle. Please reach out to our General Manger, Jimmy Dull, at (724)864-5100 to speak more about your experience with your salesperson. Thank you!

I had a terrible experience purchasing my vehicle. The salesman was very kind at fist but as the deal progressed things changed. The financial manager kept trying to pressure me into purchasing an extended warranty that I didn't want. I had issues with the new vehicle and was supposed to receive a callback that I never received. You have to call continuously in order to get assistance and a month b later the issue is still not resolved.
They are nice to get you in the door but then treat you like you are an idiot. I will NEVER purchase a vehicle from this dealer. Go to #1 Cochran, the are honest and competent and have great prices.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
