John tuned my corvette a couple years ago... took it from really nice looking turd!! In to a good running car.. I've had the car for 10 years and ( have only had problems with it ) since day one!! But not since they dialed it in.. This shop knows they're doing and you can tell by seeing what's parked inside... just found out what yelp is all about with my biz and C&j is the first thing that came to mind
Best tuning shop ever!!
Thanks againHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Justin B.Orange, CA65109184Jan 10, 2023
C & J is the one and only Carburetor Shop to go to in the Los Angeles and Orange County area! John has been in the industry for decades and he is very knowledgeable! He is fair on his pricing and every carb we have received from him has been perfectly dialed in. I really appreciate him being honest and willingness to share his expertise. Thank you John.

I can't thank John and Art enough for getting my Firebird dialed in and running better than ever. As the previous reviews has shown, these guys know their stuff and I can finally attest to that. John was informative throughout the process. Art was also instrumental in explaining everything to me and in making recommendations on how to get the best performance out of my ride. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!

My friend and I found this gem earlier this year.
We originally ran into John (owner of C & J Engineering) in a previous racing event (2012)- he was the 'go-to' guy servicing all the engine/motor queries. His reputation is old-school (Word is he's been at it, specifically for classic muscle cars for over 37 years); word-of-mouth gets around and if you attend enough racing events in the SC area, you are bound to find him under the hood of a 73' Challenger.
What I noticed most was his attentiveness to each and every customer/attendee. Whether it was a sponsored vehicle or classic/muscle car enthusiast, John was happy to talk shop but even happier to get his hands dirty and assist in any way he could, including educating my friend about why his wheels are completely wrong for his 67' Impala, haha!
John gives it to you straight and has the knowledge to back it up.
Re his shop; John took the time to show us around:
We met his other technicians, Artie (sp?) and Joe - a good working bunch.
I saw a vintage Shelby Cobra, 67' Chevy Malibu and 64' lowrider with COMPTON license plates (just keeping it real). Since we were there for our lowrider, John showed us exactly how the hose installation would run to improve our hydraulics. You can tell John has a real passion for what he does - he'd rather spend hours on the workbench than push paper. Ask him why titanium fares better, or the pros and cons for ethanol fuel cells and you'll see a real passion when he sounds off about "1000 horsepower!"
Bottom line, John and his crew run a tight ship and I'm happy to recommend C & J Engineering going forward. =)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mark G.Santa Ana, CA018067Oct 3, 2019

Called the guy for a dial in for my 1964 nova. He didn't seem real interested and took my number still waiting for his phone call.

We apologize for the wait time. We do have a list of customers waiting to bring their cars in, unfortunately we are limited in space and can only have a certain amount of cars at a time. Please message me your phone number so I can make sure that John has you on the list.
Thank you,

This place is nothing but pressure and milking your money. C'mon who gives a hand written invoice now a day's? To top things off, John overcharges. Just stay away and find yourself a descent shop. Horrible!

Great service! John knows what he's doing. My husband has a 57 Chevy that is well cared for at C and J Engineering. A happy husband makes life great. And I love when we when take it out for a ride. Thanks for everything John!

If you're looking for friendly, knowledgeable people to repair your classic automobiles, then I strongly suggest you visit C&J Engineering Auto repair located at 14130 Alondra Bl., Sante Fe Springs, California. Have known owner John Moreland nearly 40 years and can attest to his work ethic, good humor and willingness to complete the job to the customers' full satisfaction. As one who's sought counsel on car issues, feasibility of keeping an old car running, repairs, parts and staying in "the loop" re: car shows, updates, provided strong information, updates to keep me updated .There is a certain camaraderie at the car shows. A sense of well-being and friendships solidified by the common love of the automobile. More than once, when my spirits have been low and the road went dark, the car guys lifted me through "the doldrums" with their open, friendly ,supportive nature. The Moreland family and ours have experienced happy days with our kids at LaColima Elementary School, East Whittier Middle School & California High. Of course, we've also faced the loss of loved ones, dashed hopes too. All in all, friends matter...
If you're like me, you'll be uplifted to visit C&J ..The folks inside, employees, make one feel valued and appreciated. Give them a try and see what you think..
I write this Yelp review as an authentic assessment . Hoping others, too, will utilize this service to paint a true picture in their reviews... Drive safely, keep KRTH 101 blaring along the highways.. Oh yes, Charlie Tuna, popular radio personality, has passed...
Please keep him in your best thoughts...Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
