Delightful. The atmosphere, decor, drinks, food, and service was all top notch. We enjoyed fresh-baked alfajores, and mochas and a toddy made with rich Venezuelan chocolate that was very flavorful and not too sweet. We will be back to try the arepas, empanadas, and more. Nice little array of South American groceries as well. And gluten free options.
This restaurant is not on any of the main walkable stretches in the East End, so it took us awhile to try it out, but I am so glad we finally did! The atmosphere is very warm and cozy, the service was friendly and thoughtful (complimentary mango lassi for my son, which he loved), and the food was delicious. We tried a classic (Tikka masala) and a regional specialty coconut and poppyseed curry (I already forget the name) and were delighted with both. The great flavors and cuts of meat made for the best Indian food I've found in Pittsburgh. The portions were generous, too. We will definitely be back, again and again.
Love this place. Great cocktails, delicious appetizers and ramen, and nice happy hour specials. Also glad to see it's been getting busier--even though that means it's harder to just drop in! This is a great addition to downtown's restaurant options
It was 85 degrees and humid today and there was no AC on. It was miserable and even hotter inside. I stayed because I remembered how good the food had been when Smoke was in Homestead, but was so nauseous from the heat by the time the food came, I couldn't eat much of it. Why is this place being so cheap? Turn the AC on!
This place has decent, overpriced French food. I got the escargot appetizer and scallops for an entree. My husband got the rabbit consomme appetizer and the prime rib entree. The escargot was chewy (I'm used to melt-in-your-mouth at the truly top quality places) and the bed of risotto was over-salted. The consomme was rather flat and had unnecessary foam (2011, anyone?), and the prime rib was fine with an ok Bordeaux sauce. The scallops were the one dish that held up to expectations. It was fine, but way too much money for the quality. We live a mile away but will not be back. Cafe Du Jour and Dish on the South Side were far better--at least the last time we went a few years ago.
