- Michelle Higgins, travel columnist, New York Times 11/29/2009And when I arrive at my destination, I use the iPhone to pull up the Yelp app, and its built-in mapping feature, to find the most highly user-rated bars and restaurants.
-
- Wall Street Journal 11/20/2009Yelp drew nearly 29 million unique visitors in September - besting its closest competitor, CitySearch, by three million visitors, according to web analytics company Compete.
-
- Reality Bytes, New York Times Magazine 11/15/2009The current wave of excitement about augmented reality often involves peering at a smartphone screen, rather than a computer. For example, Yelp, the online service that reviews restaurants, bars and small businesses, has added a feature to one mobile app: point your (properly enabled) phone at a row of restaurants as if you were going to take a picture of it, and in addition to seeing what's really there, you'll see the Yelp ratings hovering in front of each.
-
- Paul Smalera, Slate 5/2009As a consumer, it doesn't bother me that my satisfaction is tied to businesses' desire to avoid negative ratings on Yelp. If anything, I'm glad the exchange between business and customer is finally being shown for what it is: a transaction between strangers rooted in the hope that nothing gets screwed up in the process.
-
- Tameka Kee, paidcontent.org 4/27/2009In just a year, local review site Yelp has grown to attract nearly the same size audience as its larger, better-funded rival and the latest stats from Compete show that Yelp's visitors are staying longer, viewing more content and returning more often than Citysearch's users do
-
- Chris O'Brien, SJ Mercury News 3/19/2009It's also clear the company is providing a service that many other people feel is a godsend.

- Daniel Winslow quoted in, NY Times 5/6/2009I got hooked on Yelp as a way to find places on the road, and even in Boston, for clients," he said. "For example, I needed to find a vegan restaurant for a Hollywood actor who was in Boston shooting a TV pilot. Even though I live here, I'm not vegan and so I had no idea where to take him, but Yelp helped me find a great place.
