This place was a huge disappointment. There aren't any actual waiters or waitresses here. There is basically a hostess, the owner and a food runner. We waited for a long time for someone to come by to take our order.
For appetizers we had the pork bao and the chicken karaage. They were decent, but I got my entree, the meat set first before we got the appetizers . I enjoyed my meat set. My daughter had the seafood set and she aaid it was decent with the exception of the large prawn, which was fishy. My husband was disappointed with his tomahawk porkchop, which was dry and he was the last to get his food.
I tried to get the runner to get me a refill of water, but she basically looked at me and rolled her eyes. All the dishes we were eating were just left on the table piling up.
I had to go up to the cashier to get our bill. There was a "support local fee" added to our taxes. It was mandatory that we pay that regardless of method of payment. I thought that was a little ballsy to add it to the tax without showing you what amount the fee was. It took us at least 15 minutes for us to get our credit card and receipt back. I could understand them adding a fee to pay by credit card, but a fee just for extra money on top of tip? That's just greedy. We definitely will not be going back. The service was horrendous.
We left still hungry and went to a pizzeria afterwards to grab some pizza.
The chicken shawarma over rice was absolutely delicious. Perfectly juicy and seasoned well. The owner was very nice and the place was very clean with a couple of tables where you can eat in.
Terrible. Lamb gyro was not hot and it was dry. French fries were also not hot. Waited a bit for the food and yet it was still not hot.
Came here for some popcorn chicken to try. Waited for a while for the chicken was ready and when I bit into it, it wasn't that hot and it was mostly breading. The menu says M-F free eggdrop soup comes with all orders. My order did not come with a soup. When I questioned the cashier, she said sorry, just comes with the dumplings. That's false advertising.
We went there specifically for the Makubla. The chicken was sooooooo juicy and tender and the rice was extremely flavorful and moist studded with fried potatoes and eggplant. This is a must try if you come. The menu says it's for 2 people but you can really serve 4. The menu doesn't say it, but it comes with a lovely chopped salad with sumac and lemon juice and a really tasty white condiment that you mix in with the chicken and rice.
