There is a reason Mama J's is the only restaurant in RVA with an hour wait on a Monday at 745p! I do not like catfish, it's like liver, tried it 100 different times and just can't get with it... EXCEPT here, get the nuggets as an app or the filets in your meal just get them. Hands down my fav protein on their menu is the trout, extremely crispy on the outside, moist and perfectly cooked on the inside. Sara ordered the fried chicken, it was alright. Sides I've had so far(and all excellent): yams, greens, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and cabbage. The choco cake was moist and yum!
I will gladly sit out front for over an hour and listen to everyone complain about everything n everything but when you are sitting inside you know what you hear?? Lip smacking and a bunch of "damn thats good!"

Its a greasy burger joint that keeps me coming back. Don't expect friendly service at the window counter, not rude but just not friendly either. I usually get a burger (I do like the Bama Stinger sometimes) and some O rings. The last time I got a bologna burger that wasn't cooked to the crispy state I asked for.
Usually a line but they are quick.

Headboat fishing cost $38+tip for first mate, leaves promptly at 8a and then again at 1p. They provide everything you need (rod, reel, bait) but food n bevs. Bring: FnB, a cooler, a bucket for your catch, a rag if you don't want to touch the fish, sunscreen.
If you pay full price for the 8a, you get access to fish off the pier so bring your tackle anyways! Sometimes they offer a discount to the 1p boat($25) if you went on the 8a boat.
