This is one of my favorite budget Japanese. I still don't prefer their sushi but the hibachi is on point.
Little frustrates to why someone would pack two heavy hibachi plates on top of smaller lighter boxes when the hibachi was FULL of soy sauce... it was a complete mess when we got home. One of the hibachi boxes had a hole so everything was soaked, the bag, my feet, the car :(
Anyways as for the food. We like our chicken lightly roasted not seared. So the chicken was a little dry on the outside with that texture we don't like. The fried rice is more like seasoned white rice as it was rather white not like I'm used to. The sushi was what you Should expect for $4 a roll. The white sauce was watery and a little tangy.
I enjoyed the crab ragoons with the sweet sauce. I also liked the pork gayza. Both of those dishes were as expected.
Ummm...No. Ordered a pimento cheese burger "a plenty" which means it came with fries and onion rings. I also got Mac n cheese, pecan pie slice, peach cobbler, and apple crumble. Burger, remember the cheap nasty burgers from the school cafeteria?... yeah add extra thick bun and the essence of a pimento, hold the cheese. Not good. Fries are regular crinkle cut, nothing special. Onion rings were very thinly sliced so much it was really batter and burnt greasy onion. Pecan pie not bad but you can tell they are cutting cost by not putting many pecans in it. Peach cobbler, had peaches, i didn't mind the consistency but it was so sweet (and I love sweet stuff)...almost inedible. The apple crisp inedible. It was covered in perhaps lemon flavoring? Or something tart. So the Mac n cheese was the highlight and id actually get that again (to go). I agreed with another reviewer. While they were circling and randomly "cleaning" tables, our table cloth was beyond nasty and the overall feel of the dining areas was nasty. There was not alot of direction and there was a large group ahead of us which did make things very stressful. I ended up with lemon flavoring in my tea which I hate... luckily they did switch it out for me. The people on the front line were very nice and I'm sure the regulars (just like at Starbucks) know what to do. But for a first timer, it was a little overwhelming with a little one in tow. Btw. She even approved the Mac n cheese and sometimes she can be a critic. So 5 star Mac n cheese and friendly front staff, 1 start everything else.
Lucky if you get to see a doctor. Went in. Mind you they won't even let you schedule an appointment without all your insurance information. Waited 40 minutes. Was told that my paperwork was held up in finance. Finally called to finance. Was told they wrote my insurance down incorrectly but NOW they got it straight (FORTY MINUTES!!!) I could pay $250 and proceed to xrays/my appointment. I only had time slotted for an hour (because I'm an adult that's works and is a mother) so obviously they used all MY TIME FIGURING OUT MY INSURANCE WHICH THEY COULD HAVE DID DAYS PRIOR. She said "next time I just need to schedule EARLIER." Seriously. Because wasting over an hour of my time wasn't good enough. I left. I won't be returning. Very disrespectful.
Best sushi in Asheville. Love the lunch specials. They have some outdoor dining. They're open during the Christmas holidays.
I've been to this place a few times. They're always busy so I'm sure some of their food must be good; however, I always start with a staple (nachos). I've tried their nachos more than once. I was never impressed but the reviewers got me to try them one more time. Ugh it was still blah. So if you go, just don't order the nachos. Also they don't have things like tamales. All in all I'd say this place is very franchisy/Americanized. The nachos have like pinto beans (like whole beans) and my nachos were so lacking in cheese I ended up getting a bowl of queso just to make them bearable. See photo.
