It won't let me edit my old review. She may not have dwelled on it, but she did go over an extensive amt of warnings and hazards. I think, upon much reflection, I just wasn't present enough to absorb the magnanimity of it all. She didn't lead me blind and I hate that I said that she did. I'm so sorry!!! :-(
Downgraded from 5 stars :-(
***And then THAT happened. I truly had a positive experience here. There was no aftercare which was a bummer but not a deal breaker as I'm not familiar enough with the process to know if such is even required...until now. I was reassured that nothing bad could ever happen and was REALLY bummed to find an article in a medical journal today (from years ago) stating the many serious risks associated with this procedure.
Tbh, had they been mentioned, I still would have done the procedure- but I have background in the medical field. This is not the case for everyone. And regardless of that, there's going to be people on either side that don't want to risk it.
Just as long as you know what you're getting into, I can recommend it. If you're not sure, look up articles from trusted reputable sources with citations to back up their claims. Look up who is licensed to perform these, the FDA's stance and potential risks. If you've got all that, and you still want to go forward, you've got my blessing. I did not omit one word from my previous review for a reason. ************
Elena is beautiful. That's number one. She's kind, thoughtful and loves to help. You figure that out right away. What you don't know until later is just how much of all of those things she is.
Nestled above a garage in a beautiful home is her oasis. The vibes are calm, pleasant lighting and the view alone makes you want to come back. It's akin to a little penthouse or flat.
I went for my first hydrotherapy colonic with Elena and I'm glad I did. She's informative without being preachy. She's encouraging and just a delightful person to be around. She stays with you during the process and at no time is it awkward.
The process itself is TRULY interesting. No joke. And after everything had finished processing later that day, I told my aunt I felt like I took a shot of caffeine (which I didn't get any add on's) in a good way. I felt brand new! I wanted to conquer the world.
It's the next day today and I was a little sore until I worked out, believe it or not. Now I'm just trying to stay hydrated. From start to finish Elena is tops. GREAT place for first timers. This works and the prices are a steal! Can't wait for my next

As I suspected, the abnormally high amount of stars is not a true representation of the business, but the business cherry-picking which reviews to fight or leave with Yelp. I had a tip I wrote a while ago, taken down for this excuse of a business. I suspect they tried to get everything I wrote taken down, but were only able to succeed in removing a tip that essentially just said wait for my review. Pointless. But since I'm here!
While I was going days without key meds due to poor mgmt of my scripts, there was a nurse who from minute one to the 11th hour never learned my last name. She would refer to me in variations of the first two letters and any ending she could think up. Thankfully I was the only Holly B otherwise I might not have received the proper medications ever.
The mistreatment at this facility was rampant. Allegedly they're feeding you off of a 2,000 calorie diet. But it felt like 20. I was never fed enough to satiate anyone but a small child. I'll never forget the first breakfast at their sister facility (Which is really bad but still a step up). I almost cried. I couldn't believe all the food there was for me! It was probably a normal sized breakfast but I thought I was mistakenly given a feast! At Jacobs, the content of each meal was so sparse, my mom and I would take pictures and laugh. I would send them to her in NM, she would send them to my dad if she came to visit and he was unable to make it because of work.
Which reminds me, I have had many poor physicians in my life, but Dr. Gertzer (sp?) was so lacking and unprofessional, that my father reported her to the board. Being a physician himself, he knows the ins and outs of being a doctor. First and last time in my life he ever took to writing anyone about any care I was receiving. I knew she wasn't just the work of my nightmares at that point but a true terror. She's actually the catalyst of why I moved. My ins would not cover any other doctor so we literally had me leave the facility. I'll be thankful when I'm out of the family of facilities but until then there's Yelp to make sure no one has to make the same mistake. :-)
How this place has over one star is beyond me. This is the worst facility I've ever stayed in. It should be named Dysfunction. I was only here for 2 months but I would cry almost every night.
A Pharmacy that takes scripts as a suggestion.
CNA's who are either busy or just flat out not doing their job.
If you're Filipino you're in luck. They take good care of their own. Your 92 year old grandmother would be mostly safe.
I would wait hours for my call light to be answered.
When I received a shower it was more like a suggestion than an actual activity. I was barely cleaned despite anything I said.
Everything was done to the minimum.
In house mgmt was VERY responsive to my complaints about CNA's though, I must say. I never had to deal with anyone who blatantly mistreated me. There was more than one. The rest were either lazy or super stars. Such a strange dichotomy.
If you love the person you're looking to place AT ALL, do not take them here. Even some EMT's I had recently said "Oh yeah. We've heard about Jacobs!" When discussing poor facilities. As long as the cash is rolling in, things will never change. They don't care. It's your stereotypical facility you hear nightmare stories about. Two of the worst months of my 34 year old life.
Update- Same day about 5 min after initial review: They DO have tiramisu available. Upgrading from a 4 to a 5 star review!
I really like this place. My go to is the spaghetti with meat sauce, with which when ordering on Postmates comes with bread and a salad. I must add I've only had to go or delivery.
The spaghetti is bland but once salted and properly Parmesaned, it's a dream. All of that for $10!
The salad is decent but the dressing saves it. Makes it worth eating.
The bread often comes hard which is a bummer. If you order right when they open, you're almost guaranteed a fresh cut.
I had the lasagna a couple of weeks ago, same sides, and it was so good! The cheese and sauce were plentiful as I like.
From what I've experienced, you can't go wrong here. Which, there are very few places you can say that about. Only the 4 stars because of the often inedible bread, the usual lack of Parmesan despite asking for it every time and no tiramisu since COVID. Theirs was SO good! Thank you guys for everything else!
While we can't change the circumstances, COVID 19 doesn't have to take everything from us! Wash n Go has a top notch pick up and delivery service. Don't let that pile of laundry scare you any longer! They'll literally get you all cleaned up! I've been using them for years and they never fail. First time at this location and it's just as flawless and affordable. Most affordable in the city. I'm stuck in kind of a rehab center and Robert happily waited in the lobby, the farthest non residents can go, and have my nurse run my clothes out to him. As I'm not allowed to go to the lobby. Phew. Exhausting but necessary circumstances. So pleased. I'll never go anywhere else. :-) My clothes come back like an expensive place might send them. It's a dream.

Thanks for the detailed review, Holly! We are so glad we were able to help you out. Helping our customers is what we love best. We sincerely look forward to serving you time after time.
Things start to look promising, then we lose 2 of the best CNA's. They really completed the morning crew. I knew when I didn't have the expertise of Elizabeth and Cristal, I could count on these powerhouses. The talent and hard workers is significantly slashed. They worked extra shifts no matter what and didn't give anyone a hard time. This is going to affect EVERY shift because that's what assets they were. I'm trying so hard to give this place another chance. But they want me to look forward to Coachella without any headliners! We have a couple of nurses here I would much rather trade places with them.
Luckily there's still some good people. like Sheena. Perfect for her job. Always a pleasure to work with. Max who helps hold pm down. He doesn't half way do anything. His showers are so complete and caring, some people refuse to have anyone but him.
Jazmine just helped my neighbor immensely who has begged every single CNA to help her with her closet for days. She was just passing by, too. Cat the new nurse is perfect. Wouldn't change a thing. We'll all miss Art who left too soon. There's more but I can't think about anything but our gals who we miss and love desperately! JJ forever! Hopefully my next update is happy. :-(
New mgmt. Optimistic things will change from the chaos of before. No one needs the stress.
Now, let's get this straight, there are so many people who work their little buns off and get no recognition. I obviously can't mention everyone who is amazing. I'll have to do that in an update. But I am going to mention some of the superstars. So many of these people clean the messes of others, thanklessly. Might as well get appreciated here.
Let's start with the good. I actually was first a resident of their sister facility Jacob's health care. Talk about a nightmare. I can't even bring myself to write a review because it's traumatizing. But I was so happy to come here and see that it was basically the Bizarro version of Jacobs! So, I recommend that the people who complain about the food and the response time to the call lights here, enroll themselves at Jacobs. I could have my light on for up to two hours before getting someone to come in. It was awful. The med situation is 2,000,000% better than Jacobs. These are the only two facilities I've ever been to so all of my comparisons will be with Jacobs.
Nursing situation is better. There's always a few bad apples anywhere you go. But for the most part these people actually know what they're doing. I had to argue with the nurses so many times at Jacob's because they would do crazy things like try to make me take sleep medication for anxiety. I'm not joking like a sleeping pill for a substitute of an anti-anxiety meds. It was total chaos.
Food portions are very decent. Food is about as expected. Bland and over cooked. But having said that, with a lot of salt, I at least can eat two of the things on every plate. Which is a new concept.
Now, for the bad and ugly. I'm wondering where this job was when I was in my 20s and allergic to work because I partied so much. The people who work here are allowed to no call no show as many times as they want, come in late even by hours, have hands where you can see the dirt on them, come in under the influence, have breath that smells of alcohol, be MIA for 5 hours, sleep for hours, come and leave as they please, intentionally break protocol that jeopardizes the residents health, in general not do their job at all and my personal favorite, drop residents more than once in a very short time span.
How lucky am I that there is 1 employee who exhibits all but 2 of those behaviors?! Rome wasn't built in a day, but to the credit of mgmt, I have spoken with them and they have made large strides to making this place more all-around perfect.
Now,The superstars! They're in no particular order, so nobody get offended!
There's Brenda, who could best be described as a ninja. She literally puts a new level to the hard worker. When she is working a shift, you know that things are going to get done and they're going to get done well. She does everything you need in a quick manner with a smile. When the scary workers are working, she actually picks up the slack and takes their rooms because some of us don't even want the scary workers to touch us. So she takes on her residents as well as the residents of the scary workers.
And by the way, none of these people complain. The things that I know are things that I found out independently. Because it's just so rough. And one thing I've always valued almost as much as how the clients are treated, is how the staff is treated. It's really important to me that they're taken care of. So I keep my ears and eyes open because I don't like places that don't take care of their employees.I don't know about anything personal or behind the scenes that goes on with their jobs they just come in, do the work and do it well.
Lucy She-ra! She's really strong and not just emotionally! Often doing many peoples work.
I'm going to have to start lumping people because this is already a novel. Sheena, Cristal, Rachel, Nina, Serenity, all work like crazy yet, keep a great sense of humor about them that keeps me laughing. Which is a tough thing to do in the morning.
Destiny is such an asset. Josh, Forest both go above and beyond no matter how much work they've been doing previously.
Nurses Cara, Brooke, Art and Tita all go beyond the call of duty with zero griping. I honestly don't know how they do it.
Now you can see why I can't mention everyone in one fell swoop. Because it would quite literally be the longest review in history. It's basically already in second place for that position.
So you've got some really rough situations. But then you've got some truly magical people that make it all worth it. In the end, I can at least say I would absolutely recommend here over Jacob's. And speaking to a couple of the other residents it seems to be better than the other facilities that they went to as well. You just have to remember that all of these places are understaffed and overworked. It's just the way. I feel safe and taken care of here and I'm lucky to have my roommate. So all in all despite the scary, I am happy to be here over Jacobs.
