      Please ask questions and talk to current families before you consider this school! It is not as it seems.

      I have three kids at Prospect Academy. There has been a steady decline in the support that is provided in this school. They sell themselves as a school for kids with disabilities but they aren't any different than every other school. They are perpetuating the school-to-prison pipeline. The admin and staff have absolutely no clue how kid's brains work who have various disabilities.They create situations where children on the spectrum are sure to fail and then the kids are the casualties because they aren't able to control their emotions. The admin lies regularly and then acts surprised when parents believe their kids over the lies that the adults are spreading. This is NOT the school that they claim to be. The environment is not safe. They do nothing about bullying, kids are getting sexually assaulted, and kids are being blamed because they can't manage their emotions which is directly related to their disabilities. And the school just calls the cops to handle all of the problems they are causing. I have a parents group set up on Facebook for parents to talk if any current parents read this: Prospect Academy Parents discussion group. Let's band together and hold Prospect accountable for what they promised us they would provide for our kids!

      Also, the majority of the teachers are trying really hard to support kids. Except the teacher who told my kids that if she ran the school, she would run it like the military runs boot camps. Apparently, she grew up in a military family and believes that everyone should adhere to military rules. How to say "I like abusing kids without saying I like abusing kids."

      -My kids were bullied by kids and adults. A teacher's child caused problems from day one. Eventually they ended up bringing a knife to school and scratching up a kid on the kid on the playground.

      -Staff members without certifications work with children. One staff members purposely caused power struggles with kids so they would react and get punished. The school consistently took the adults word even though multiple families were complaining about this person. 

      -Children's disabilities are questioned and mocked 

      -Children from affluent white families are preferred. This in turn means that any kid from this kind of family is untouchable because their parents had the means too sue. 

      -Consequences vary widely on demographic and disabilities. 

      -Students stay with the same teacher through the lower grades. In theory this should be an amazing situation unless you get a sub par teacher. The school refused to move my child to a new class. 

      -Kids who aren't white, are disproportionately singled out. While their white counterparts get away with the very things the non-white demographic gets consequences for. 

      -The school constantly asks for money! 

       -The school has a cultish feel. Very similar to organized religion. Complete with weird rituals. 

      - They do not like critical thinking at this school especially when children are thinking critically and questioning adults.

      BCD is a joke! My two week old recycling is sitting on my curb. Apparently this week is an A week and not our recycling week except last week was our recycling week but our recycling was not picked.
      Speaking to their useless customer service is also a joke. They don't care! They refuse to credit me for storing the recycling they were supposed to pick up. They are not apologetic at all and do not offer any explanation for their negligence.
      They also don't keep records over a week so if you're having consistent issues they claim they don't keep track. How convenient.
      Also if your trash and recycling isn't picked up, you're supposed to call them in a specific time frame or they can't help you. How about you just do the job that I pay you for?
      Why do I have to waste my time on the phone begging them to do their job that I pay them for? Why is it so hard to show up and take recycling and trash on the days they are supposed to?

      We were 1 month into my son's braces contract when the pandemic happened. He was supposed to have upper and lower braces placed but Dr. Roylance was only able to place the top. Dr. Roylance thought he was going to continue to charge me $200 for services he can't currently provide. I've been arguing with him to stop my payments for several weeks. He finally agreed and then I opened my credit card bill and he charged me anyway stating software upgrade issues. I demanded that he discontinued our contract because the services that I was promised could not be fulfilled at this time. I'm still waiting for his statement in writing that my contract will be discontinued without charge. He should have done the right things from the beginning. I do not pay money for services I am not receiving. Dr. Roylance tried to give me a sob story about his practice and his employees. I'm sorry, running a business is a risk. And no one owes you ANYTHING. Dr. Roylance should have done the right thing from the beginning and suspended payments. He doesn't value customers. I have 4 kids that will all potentially need braces and he just lost our business for being greedy and trying to take advantage of people during a pandemic.

      We took a trip to Ikea this evening to do something shopping and have dinner. The entire restaurant upstairs was closed for a special dinner event. That was the first bummer. We decided to eat in the Cafe. I have to say that the veggie dogs are onpoint. Super tasty. Only the slurpee machine is working though for beverages. And apparently the machine has been broken for a week. But the Cafe was still selling cups and "forgetting" to tell customers. The man behind the counter looked like he was half dead. So I went to grab some soda and got sprayed with sticky mess. Then they called a supervisor to come and refund my money. Which took 10 minutes, the poor man seemed to have no clue what he was doing. The man behind the counter all of sudden was perky and changed his entire demeanor since the manager was present. The manager asked him to hand me something to clean myself off with. So the man handed me 1 single dripping wet napkin. I got pushed by an employee while waiting for my refund. Instead of asking me to move over, she just attempted to barrel through me and then half heartedly said sorry. Then there was another woman that the employees were talking to, she might have been an employee off shift? She smelled like poo. It was so bad it made me gag. Is Ikea under new management? Everyone seemed to be in an exceptionally bad mood with very low morale. It's not the Ikea experience i'm used to. It's a shame because we love Ikea and have always had exceptional experiences but something is wrong with this Ikea.
