I can only describe Annie as a fairy godmother... one of several incredible women (more reviews to come) who became part of our support network after our son was born. Being both new to the area (just moved from NYC) and having a newborn was not an easy transition, but Annie helped us gain confidence, some much needed self care, and loving energy at a time we needed it most.

What makes Annie special is that not only is she warm, caring and nurturing as you would expect someone in this field to be, she is extremely thoughtful and applies a high degree of intellect to her work and interactions. Her passion for nurturing people through this transition and helping them not feel isolated / build a sense of community shines through. All of this gave us the utmost confidence in inviting her into our home to care for us and our newborn in what is a very intimate and delicate time.

My only regret: I had the foresight to line up night doulas before our baby was born, but I only wish I had done the same for daytime support. We were late to the game and were lucky to get some chunks of Annie's time as she had a bit of availability between clients. I would snap Annie up and clone her if I could!

My takeaway advice for the parents out there: there is no prize for not getting / accepting help if you can - especially during a transition period that can be isolating, challenging and coupled with recovering physically from birth. The time Annie spent with us gave us and our son such immense support and care that really helped this transition... by the way that even included my husband and I napping on one occasion and a hike on another!

I absolutely look forward to working with Annie again and participating in her classes + resources she is developing.

Not that I typically enjoy Walmart, but this one is especially bad. It's small, messy and they don't have a grocery inside. Find a bigger super Walmart if you can instead of this one.

Coming to this place and ordering in person is like entering a corn maze. Avoid it at all costs.

The trick is to use Level Up and order ahead of time. You can pick up your salad 30 minutes or so later and not have to deal with the very confusing and poorly designed flow of the place.

Their salads are really good - great selection of standard and some more exotic ingredients (hearts of palm, or seasonal heirloom tomatoes for example). Also they have interesting pre-fab salads that go beyond the usual Ceasar or Cobb.

I order my lunch from here about 3-4 times a week and I've been pleased with the service and food about 95% of the time.

Very solid lunch option for the unlucky who work in the boonies of the Financial District!

The burrata ice cream alone earns DAK 5 stars - I don't even care what else they serve! The burrata-based ice cream is smooth, creamy and tastes divine (not sweet at all!). Get it on a cone, it comes with a surprise confit strawberry at the bottom, drizzled with balsamic caramel and garnished with basil microgreens.

Also comes served in a kouign Amman pastry as an ice cream sandwich.

One of the most unique and delicious ice creams I've ever had.

5 stars for presentation, 3 stars for the food.

It seems that Aroqa is still growing into itself. The menu is inventive - love the tapas take on Indian food. The space has an intimate feel - make sure to sit in the front half as the space towards the back is awkward and choppy.

As for the food, the dishes varied widely. The kurkuri bhel was my favorite - a modern, tangy and crunchy take on a classic snack. The paneer kulcha was also good - although you it's hard to screw up buttery bread. The other 3 dishes were mediocre - including the mushroom kataifi which the server said was their most popular dish.

Where Aroqa really excels is in the presentation - each dish was plated so beautifully it was a treat to see them. Some come on trucks, others on bikes and one dish even had micropipettes full of sauce (O-Chem anybody?).

Aroqa definitely has room to grow - I would give it another try in a few months after they settle in. I hope they do because there is some real creativity there!
