Last night we placed a takeout order for the Bhindi Masala (okra, onions, tomato, spices), the Baigan Bharta (roasted minced eggplant with tomatoes, onions, spices, and herbs), and Kulcha (bread stuffed with onions or chili). Everything was absolutely delicious. Portions were enough for three or four servings! The two of us will enjoy a repeat of last night's dinner this evening!

Kurry Zone is closed on Mondays. They have daily specials and a buffet option, too. Vegetarians will be overjoyed. There are PLENTY of options that do not include meat.

      Updated review

We order takeout from 21 Chinese Kitchen often. There are multiple reasons why our local modest Fairless Hills takeaway earns this rating.

The ingredients are always fresh. We know this, because occasionally, when we've ordered, the chef will inform us that there has been a substitution of an ingredient (such as broccoli) - or unavailability of an ingredient - because what was available from the market was not up to standards.

The chefs added homemade pork bao (buns) to the menu. The steamed bread kind, with a savory (rather than sweet) sauce. Yum. (Confession: I often order these so I can eat half the order for breakfast the next day.)

They indulge my request to add ginger to an occasional order.

Stir fried vegetables still have color and crunch!

The proportions of meat to vegetables or noodles is pleasing.

      Portions are quite generous.

The ribs with bone are among the best anywhere. They are usually very meaty. (And thankfully, opting for a savory, rather than sweet taste.)

The hot and sour soup is very nice. (We order this by the quart, because my husband really loves it.) It is chock full of vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, and pork. It is gentle. If we feel like kicking it up a notch, we add some chili-garlic sauce or a grind of black pepper to our bowl. We're always happy on the occasions that a packet of freshly house-fried crispy noodles accompany the soup when available.

Dishes that I especially enjoy from 21 Chinese Kitchen:
Tofu with Broccoli - delicious deep fried triangles of tofu with crunchy broccoli in a light sauce.
Anything with snow peas - especially shrimp or chicken
Pan Fried Noodles (Soft noodles fried until crispy, covered with an assortment of meats and seafood in sauce.)
Beef Chow Fon (ordered this just the other night and it was perfect! Plenty of beef, onions, bean sprouts, and scallions. Just the right amount of sauce. Great texture to the noodles. Very satisfying.)
Egg Foo Young - any. The sauce is packed separately. (Because sometimes, one just wants it plain, or with a different sauce to dip chopstickfuls in. Or - ha ha - one just wants to reheat one for breakfast.)

Rosetta's Cafe opened just a few weeks ago in the location of the old Squirrel's Nest. We stopped in by serendipity, looking for a late lunch / early dinner this past Sunday. (Fond of jazz, we were also drawn in by the new name.) We saw that we were close to closing hours and crossed our fingers that food was still being served. We stepped inside and whoa...there was a live trio playing!

Rosetta's serves breakfast, dinner, and lunch, with live jazz on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday brunch. (Going forward, the Sunday brunch will be a fixed price "all you can eat" menu, btw.) Since we were sliding in at an ambiguous hour, we ordered from the menu (but the staff brought some other treats to our table - including some wonderful, warm, house-made skillet corn bread.

I ordered chicken and waffles (with coffee) and my husband ordered a shrimp basket with French fries.

Here's the kicker: although I like friend shrimp, I almost never order it because a trip to New Orleans completely spoiled me for fried shrimp. Around here, so many places dish out overcooked shrimp with way too much batter. When my husband's order came out, I let out a gasp and asked if I could try one. Of course he obliged - and I traded him some of my chicken (which was also a standout in that department). The shrimp was merely dusted with the coating and the shrimp was cooked to perfection (instead of perdition). Just like New Orleans-style shrimp. The proprietor visited us at our table to see how we were enjoying our meal, and I shared my story regarding fried shrimp. Turned out, there was no coincidence! This joint was serving New Orleans-style food. (Jumbalaya is on the menu, too, as are other NoLa themed choices.)

Rosetta's is a great new addition to dining in our neck of the woods. We look forward to returning soon!

PS. Great cup of coffee, too.

Absolutely delicious HOMEMADE-tasting stewed and grilled tacos (our choices: Birra, lamb Barbacoa, and Carne Asada), Street Corn, and house-made sauces. All served with care, inquiring about options for cheese, sauce preference, and preference for onions and/or cilantro.

Husband and I were having a tough day - not with each other, but with a myriad of small aggravations. Our lunch at Nopal made everything better and brought such smiles to our faces. The thoughtfulness and kindness with which we were served and the deliciousness of every bite were like the touch of a magic wand.

We look forward to enjoying more of Nopal's treats in the future.

My husband is a big fan of Mexican food. Me...it depends. I suspect that what I like is "authentic" Mexican food as opposed to what passes itself off for Mexican food at so many places. Being maddeningly lactose intolerant, I try to find Mexican restaurants that do not infuse almost every dish with cheese and sour cream. On the Rey Azteca menu, dairy-free options seemed quite few. I thought their chicken tamales would be a safe bet, since the description was one of the few that did not mention cheese. No such luck. They, too were drizzled with cheese. Fortunately, the cheese was on top and could be scraped aside. (Yeah, I could have fished out a Lactaid and hoped for the best, but a dish or dessert has to be something special to prompt me to do that.) Unfortunately, the tamales themselves were not warmed through and were very dense and tasteless, so one bite was quite enough for me to surrender the fork. After setting the food down in front of us, the server never stopped back to check on our table. When it was time to pay the bill, I asked them if they would eliminate the item from the check and they obliged. This restaurant might be great for others (and for my husband, who enjoyed his platter), but it was a disappointing stop for me.
