over 5 years late. How did I not review this? I was new to Yelp at the time (About a year in} and I guess no one directed me to these pages. Maybe that's why I haven't been invited to the other YSB events?
This As a whole this was one of the best Yelp experiences I've had from starting off with drinks at a bar outside Petco park, all the random UYEs, having burgers at Balboa, yard parties, 2 different dances, meeting other Yelpers it was great, seeing the neighborhoods.
It was so big in fact it required 2 CMs to pull it off and of course local Yelpers looking plan their own events. This was almost like a convention as sometimes you had to choose which one to go to.
I guess my invitation s have got lost in the mail because I'd love to go go again but haven't. I wasn't aware there were others. Hopefully in the future I can get into another YSB, wherever it may be.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2733312284881Jun 10, 2016

Yelp Spring Break 2016 in San Diego - wow...
This was my first "national" Yelp event! It was so full of activity, new people, yummy food, and happy memories! Overall, it was a great experience...
THURSDAY, May 12, 2016
My roommates and I started our adventures at the Hard Rock Café. My Yelp Hawaii Community Manager, Emi, and Marketing Assistant, Sherri, hosted a fabulous Welcome Party with a fresh orchid lei and goodie bag for each person! The fun ice breaker helped us to get to meet new people!
There was a cool Official Welcome Party at Quartyard where we got our Lanyards and Yelp Schwag. That same evening, we went to Stella Public House for a spectacular UYE hosted by Omar and his angels, Isabella, Marlene, and Lesley. They were so organized with goodie bags (with special glass, notepad, sunscreen, etc.), name tags, and reception table!
FRIDAY, May 13, 2016
At 8:30am, we went to Vin & Elle's UYE and Woke Up with the Succulents! Since I won tickets to the Surfboard Museum, we continued on to Part 1 of a 2 part UYE called Boards and Bettys. Lunch was at Omar and Isabella's UYE Kamayan style in National City! Yum and more yum with ice cream aftah party!
In the evening, we were lucky to get into the Superstitious Soiree at the Air and Space Museum - whoa! Loved the FREE Flight Simulator ride and ALL of the vendors! It was overwhelming!
SATURDAY, May 14, 2016
We had fun at Ryan M.'s UYE: Coffee and Crack. What a good idea for people to wake up, then walk across the street for delicious (crack) chicken! I split off from the group and attended Omar's UYE: the Writer's Brunch at Whisknladle with its fabulous menu and Yelpers from all over the USA! After that, we went to an Official Event: Carnival Picnic at SILO in Maker's Quarter and played games. At 11pm, some of us went to Karen's UYE: Flights of Fancy and ate yummy ice cream at Hammond's! The fun thing was Prom Attire theme. Alana, Tim, and I even wore tiaras to this bling bling event!
SUNDAY, May 15, 2016
There were two Official Yelp Events: Sunday Funday and the Under the Sea Farewell Dance. In the morning, we participated in yoga on the beach, and did a beach cleanup. Under the Sea Farewell Dance was an Official Event at the Lafayette Hotel. It was nice to see friends in formal attire and dance to super good music from the live band!
As you can see, the four days of Yelp Spring Break 2016 was packed full of excitement! There were even more events to choose from. The Community Managers and local San Diego Yelpers hosted CMYEs and UYEs galore! It was so difficult to decide which ones to sign up for! Somehow, it all worked out and everyone had a great time!
We're sure looking forward to getting together again!! Rest up now while you can!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 2, 2016
Fun memories!
I did not know about this overall review of the YSBSD event until I saw Michelangelo's "Start Yer Engine..." Talk Thread. Well, I was fortunate and was able to get in all of the events I RSVPd for which was eight UYE's and four OYEs and that was only because I wasn't able to make it on the official first day of the 4-day event. Although we had originally reserved for a rental car we used Lyft throughout our whole YSBSD experience and it worked out well as we found out that parking was a challenge in most of the events we attended.
I had already written extensive reviews on each of the events I attended but to summarize my first Yelp Spring Break would be one word... Phenomenal!... Awesome! Amazing! Magical! Wonderful!... okay, five words! Here are a list of the events we attended in order:
Friday, 13th:
- Yelp Spring Break UYE: Wake Up in NCSD
- Yelp Spring Break UYE: Boards & Betty's Part 1
- Yelp Spring Break UYE: Boards & Betty's #2
- Yelp Spring Break UYE: The Little Italy Aperitivo Experience @ Landini's Pizzeria
- Yelp Spring Break: Superstitious Soiree
Saturday, 14th:
- Yelp Spring Break UYE: Coffee and Crack
- Yelp Spring Break UYE: Ocean Pacific Grille Brunch
- Yelp Spring Break: Carnival Picnic
- Yelp Spring Break UYE: Flights of Fancy @ Hammond's
Sunday, 15th:
- Yelp Spring Break: Sunday Funday
- Yelp Spring Break UYE: SD's BEST BURGERS! @ Balboa Bar & Grill
- Yelp Spring Break: Under The Sea Farewell Dance
Thank you to the tireless efforts of those involved from the San Diego Community Managers, Brad and Trish, and to guests CM's from their respective cities, to the awesome Staff we met, cool Sponsors, and all the UYE hosts who meticulously did some awesome planning on their events! This is one YSB I will always remember... you know how you always remember your 'firsts' :)
Looking forward to next year's Spring Break!

I believe this was Yelp's 5th Spring Break and the 2nd I attended.
After all the fun I had last year in Fort Lauderdale, I knew I wanted to do YSB again.
When it was announce it was in San Diego, I was even more excited.
First time visiting this beautiful city, and it's weather is amazing.
Trish & Brad did a great job organizing all the events and making everyone feel so welcome.
All the Yelp staff that helped out, were equally friendly and made sure all events ran smoothly.
The UYEs were another highlight for us visiting the city, allowing us to see a lot of what it has to offer.
The thing I love the most about YSB is the people.
Last year I made friends from different states and was so happy to see many of them there this year again.
This year was no different, and all the new friends I made, I hope to see at the next YSB.
Yes, this one just ended and already thinking of the next.
If you haven't been to one, keep your eye out for the next one. It is a guaranteed fun long weekend, with great people, and awesome events.

I wasn't sure what to make of Yelp Spring Break when it was first announced, but since it was local I attended.
So glad I did. The weekend was a blast. The official Yelp events were great parties. The lanyard worked like magic. It seemed too good to be true when I presented it at the museum entrance and then waltzed on in for free. It was neat to play tourist in my own city and get exposure to place I don't always think to visit. And I met some really nice Yelpers from other parts. We'll be Word Streak friends forever!
Big thanks to Brad, Trish, all of the great business and organizations involved, and everyone who made this happen.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 4994148215025May 25, 2016
A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER!
Yelp Spring Break is a cool way of saying "Foodie Convention" lol...Joking but kinda serious. This event allowed Yelpers from all over the country to rally in one amazing city at the same time. Can you imagine the amount of iPhone photography, tips listed, reviews written and schwag collected over this 4-day weekend extravaganza!
We (Yelpers) pretty much took-over (in a good way) local establishments for the purposes of celebrating their business, meeting & greeting friends both old and new and of course eating. This was definitely my kind of event. I was able to network with so many wonderful new people while formally getting to meet many of my existing Yelp buddies. The weekend was full of UYE's, YEE's, CMYE's and plenty to see and do off the grid without feeling claustrophobic. Hats off to those involved in making this event launch without a hitch (at least not noticeably). Yelp Spring Break was extremely well planned, well attended and well orchestrated.
I'll be back,

Been almost a year, but I still can't get over how much fun we had!! Stayed for 3 of the 4 days at YSB San Diego. Each day was filled with awesome events both official and unofficial. Big Thank You to all who organized the OYEs and UYEs with a special shout out to Trish!!
My wife and I met some fabulous Yelpers!! Highly recommend to all Yelpers to attend Yelp Spring Breaks in the future!! Got to admit, though, that I believe Yelp Spring Break San Diego will be a tough one to top. It was simply an unforgettable and amazing experience!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 26, 2016
To all who participated in Yelp's recent Spring Break San Diego weekend, I hope you found the experience worth the effort. Our city is nicely set up for such events, and you folks put San Diego to the test: Yelpers are no amateurs; we know what fun is!
Spring Break was the grand achievement of many people. To quote my review for the Welcome Party:
"San Diego CM's Trish S... Brad B. [and] Denver CM Tiffany N.; CMs Gabi M. (Phoenix), Danny W. (Chicago - aka "Old Brad") and Emi H. (Honolulu); local assistants, Andy C. and Sandra M.; and a host of other Yelp managers and volunteers... [all pitched in to] make the deals and organize the schedules, and... do the grindingly laborious work that [kept] the party going."
I should say, "the parties." Producing five large events in four days, plus an impressive array of CMYEs and other gatherings, these people fed and entertained thousands of guests in what amounted to a national convention of the most enthusiastic group of diners and drinkers San Diego will see this year.
With tight limits on participation in Yelp Spring Break events (official and otherwise), and since there were so many guests to accommodate, not everyone got what they wanted, but everyone, I think, got something they enjoyed. Except for a few self-absorbed spoilers, attendees rated YSBSD events highly, as was appropriate. Congratulations to our hosts!
As a member of San Diego's Spring Break Elite Committee, I was proud to help Trish, Brad and the others to guide and entertain Friends from near and far. I hosted four UYEs and co-hosted one, and I'm grateful to our over 200 guests for sharing their valuable time with me and the Angels: Isabella B., Marlene J., Lesley M.; and with photographers Lisa G. and Charlie V.
I'm also grateful for the efforts and generous collaboration of: Stella Public House owners John Long and Lacey Aleman, and General Manager Chris Ficorilli and his staff; Villa Manila manager Rea and her cooks and helpers; Whisknladle General Manager Steve Omahen and Chef Keith Voight and his crew; El Borrego Restaurant chef/owners Rosario Sotelo and Rodnia Attiq and their half-dozen high-energy cooks and servers; Casa Artelexia owner Elexia De La Parra; and Balboa Bar & Grill owner Tom Logsdon and the "Duck Dynasty Bar Crew."
Finally, I'd like to thank the many people who traveled to our city (on their own dime) to share rooms, cars and other personal space with virtual strangers; who did the Yelp thing - eating and drinking in places recommended by even stranger strangers; for bringing their classiest "A" game with them to YSB events; and for being excellent ambassadors to the "real" world for Yelp and their home communities.
I won't name names, because I'd run out of room for this review. I will say that the Hawaiians and the NorCal people are very generous and happy folks, and they attract like-minded individuals, so, for a good time, call them!
And although this is a review, I'll close with the sentiment I extend to those who make me happy:
Warmest personal regards,
Omar S.
