This was my first Brooklyn Yelp event and it was definitely an interesting night. I met some cool people but it's definitely a different vibe than Miami Yelp. I guess I just miss my Miami buddies and the Miami drinks (I had to tell the bartender how to make the martinis I ordered and they weren't even weird. Raspberry martini is not that hard). ;)
Overall a good time though.

Tonight..I went rollin to the souf side...it was off the hizzle...
I was tired and so I went rollin up in there with a tee shirt on due to a wardrobe malfunction that I would rather not discuss. but that bein said, I was real late...however, it didnt matter cause it was a brooklyn event...and brooklyn, they go hard...I said whats up to my nizzle Peter and I was up in that spot...
The spot was nice...I had me some Jameson on the Rocks...then I started to show my true colors..talking to my fellow yelpers, reluctantly trying some pretty good cheese, discussing why a woman having braces and glasses are possibly traits of concern that could be passed on to progeny should my genes not be as dominant, and more...the more Jameson we drank, the more the inhibitions went away...I learned about anger issues, about medical school residency concerns, etc. I even tried to interrogate Brianna about unhappy or happy family...
The best part of the night was when everyone left and a group of us had an amazing discussion about life, comparing notes from our different perspectives and coming to some amazing conclusions...we even made some plans about the future...it was great...sometimes the conversations between people transcend the place and event and it was these small things that made all the difference tonight...At South 4th bar or any other watering hole, you can control your destiny...I am sure that there were so many people who had an ok time or didnt have a great time at all...if you are one of those people, ask yourself, what did you do to make the time amazing?? Did you attempt to meet people? Did you share your greatness with the room? For those of you that took the time to, I thank you...for me, it made all the difference...

For the first time *ever*, Molly and I show up as the very *first* Yelpers to an elite event (gasp! I know...).
So, as we're sitting outside the bar, Mayor Pete joins us and lets us in on a little secret: in addition to offering Southern Tier beer this evening...they're also offering Jameson*.
Aw, shite.
I've never been to South 4th Bar and will most definitely return. It's a smallish--yet not confining--space and It's in a somewhat less inhabited part of Williamsburg** (which is good, nay, great!). The bartenders were fabulous and friendly. The cheese and pastries were quite tasty too.
Kudos to Peter and Miriam! Yet another great event!
* A side note....Jameson...is my best friend/worst enemy. We go waaaay back.
**Does that even exist? Yes my dear....yes it does.
And Danny, these asterisks are for you.

It was a long day. It was a long month. And all I really wanted was something to take my mind off it.
And when I heard there was an event in Brooklyn, well, I just had to impose myself on the first available offer of a "+1" spot. And thanks to my quick typing and the gentlemanly Mr. Bones, I was able to snag it!
I don't normally hang in Williamsburg, only because it's...well a little out there for me. However, I was really happy to mosy up to this spot, be greeted by a smiling Miriam and then the man of the hour himself - Peter D.
Then I made a beeline for the cheese before running into Molly and Irene, saying incoherent hello's (too much bread and cheese in mouf). Got me a beer and went to plant myself in the front with Joey H. and Steve M. The night proceeded in an even flow (thoughts arise(d) like butterflies) with much conversation about life, pizza, funerals, bottles of wild turkey.
Shout outs to everyone I talked to, and who talked to me! I'm a chatty cathy sometimes!
And once again, thanks to Peter D., Miriam and Jesse for making this event possible, a nice way to ease into the summer. Even flow.

simple math...............
Jameson + really fantastic pastries from Ceci Cela + uber-friendly bartender + outdoor seating + cheese from Murray's + meeting new yelpers (Yes, I'm talking about you) + hanging with old friends ( you, you and of course I can't forget you)+ laughter + great conversation + miriam + peter d
= a real cool event

Awesome event. Can't go wrong with free beers and Jameson... and cheese for that matter.
Bartenders were responsive and nice and it was great to see a lot of great friends - old and new.
The place itself is a bit buried in Williamsburg, but it's worth the hike - especially for the Wii Tournament Mondays.
Special Shout-outs to:
- Lisa, Irene F, James L., MollyC., Jamel O., Michael F, Bones, Steve M, Jordan, and Unlucky.

This was definitely a Peter D event: casual, warm neighborhood bar with excellent service and all of the usual suspects in attendance in a low-key ambience that promotes good conversation. He did it again!
I will add that I was very happy to be an integral member of Jamel's great late-night conversation along with Pat B. (PA), that having my photo taken -- again -- with Kyle H was too much magic for one person, meeting the entire Unlucky family in fortuitous bursts was hilarious, chatting with Dr. Becca was pretty cool, meeting a real chef like Elliott was awesome, and it was cool seeing Richard B and Ki too, but I didn't get to chat with them as much as I would have liked.
Just one final note on the bartenders, Patrick and Lana were great! A couple hours after the event, Patrick as a customer still knew my name even though I no longer had my nametag, and Lana ended up being a bit of a traveler herself giving me the word on Frasca in Boulder and the joys of Montross, VA. The world is getting to be too small for this traveler -- I love it!

Does anyone ever give a Yelp event less than 5 stars? Conflict of interest, no?
South 4th Bar event = eez good
IPA + Pilsner + Jameson + Patrick the bartender = dangerous
Anything that is fun is a little dangerous, no?

Almost passed on this event. (Can you believe that?) Just getting over a summer cold, then got caught in the rain heading downtown...
...and it's all the way over in Brooklyn....
But Pete pulled some strings to get me invited to my FIRST Yelp Elite event. (Thanks Pete!) Me thinks it was a taste to get me to apply for Yelp Elite. You know like a drug dealer, who knows he's dealing the good stuff. It worked. I'm hooked. App will be in the mail shortly.
Ran into a bunch of Yelpers I already know, and met a bunch more new ones. High fives all around to y'all, you know who you are.
Lastly, South 4th is way cool. It's a trek to get here, but it's worth it once you get here. Jamel & Co didn't have an exclusive on the amazing conversations., although he left me wanting in on his group's musings about life.
We also had great conversation in the back room over beer and Jenga. I blame South 4th for the good times had all the way around. It's such a comfortable setting that it just puts people in a chill mood that leads to memorable experiences. The Sunshine pilsner, Southern Tier ipa, and Jameson didn't hurt either.
Thanks again!!

Came with a friend who deserved a drink or two. He's been through some shit. So I'm glad we did it up right for him. I had a great time, this was my kind of place. I really like the location too. Very cozy.
All of those beverages kicked ass, the cheese was tasty, and the pastries were awesome. I loved the chocolate chip croissant, it went really well with my beer strangely enough.
Thank you so much to the yelp staff who set this shindig up. You guys never fail to impress.

Best elite event yet, then again I only have my prior two to compare so that's not much of a comparison.
Anyway, it was awesome. Not hung over or anything, but was definitely happy and the bartender was super nice and attentive. More events like this please! Go Brooklyn!!!

as always, a lovely lovely time was had
"this was a real nice clambake, we're all mighty glad we came.
the vittles we et were good you bet
the company was the same.
our hearts were warm our bellies were full
and we were feeling prime.
this was a real nice clambake, and we all had a real good time!"
it was great to be with my irl family and yelp family!
my only regret, is the social butterflyitis adhd syndrome that seems to manifest at these events; flitting around from yelp flower to flower is fun
but sometimes it's hard to have a real conversation when i get like this.
i'll just have to stay later next time!
thank you mr. brooklyn ambassador and miriam and jessie!
it's a very nice place and the manager of south 4th bar and cafe gets an A+ in my book.

Peter D. flexed some pretty big Yelp muscles last night!
My friend, Anna J., and I made the trek over from the City and wandered our way through Williamsburg. No sooner than we had gotten off the L, she commented to me, "I don't think my jeans are tight enough to be walking around here."
Anyway, we walked in and sidled up to Peter where he informed us that there were two kinds of beer to be had and as an added bonus Jameson. Anna and I exchanged wary looks and decided to, at least, start with beer...that lasted for about an hour. Like one of Pavlov's well trained dogs, I saw James F. drinking a Jameson and my mouth started to water. Anna was kind enough to get me one and then rest of the evening is mostly a blur.
Things I do remember:
- Standing in a puddle trying to negotiate going to the bathroom while staying relatively dry.
- Ranting about 100% Green restaurants not being economically feasible.
- Noticing Pat & Peter and several other Yelpers taking shots of Jamie...yikes!
- Talking to our bartender (Lana?) about the douche (methinks non-Yelper) who paid with a credit card and left her a $1 cash tip.
Quote of the Night from Anna: "It feels like I'm getting acupuncture with a boob!"
Kudos to Peter D., who's obviously been putting in his time in the Yelpnasium.

What can I say? The coupling of my favorite bar in the universe with Yelp, which has had an indelible impact on my life over the past 2 years, in terms of meeting people and inspiring me to take chances, is almost too much excitement for my little heart to take. I love each and every bartender and person in that establishment, even the coke-drinking, nontipping, leering Hasidim. Just a great event with good energy, mix of people, drink selections -- beer and jameson's, cheese, pastries. S4th -- is that the reason I keep returning to Brooklyn?

How can I complain about free beer and Jameson? Throw in some yummy cheese and I am a happy camper! Much love to you all, and a special shout out to Max S, who I hadn't seen in ages, and Danny P, for escorting me homewards, definitely appreciated.

South 4th Bar and Cafe is really nice though sort of near nothing. I had a lovely time chatting with yelpers while eying the selection of board games - it is quite immense, I spotted something Buffy related and squealed.
