I've been here a few times, but only recently thought to leave a review. The restaurant is a converted home and set back a bit from the road, which adds to the ambiance.

I like the food. I've had the mussels, burger, and brunch. You can sit inside (there are several sections, plus the bar) or out (weather-dependent, of course). It's cozy, friendly, attractive and original. The staff is friendly, but seems to turn over frequently. On this particular visit, the bartender could be seen looking up a recipe for a lemon drop which makes me think she was new.

My latest visit had me enjoying a burger and homemade chips. While the burger was delicious and juicy, the bun fell apart as I was eating it. The homemade chips (get the spicy!) were good, but not piping hot, almost as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp instead of fresh from the fryer.

I like Preservation Kitchen, and would have no problem recommending them.

      How I ended up here:
Booked an Air BnB in Lake Forest for a work event. Looked for brunch spots nearby.

      Ordered:
      - Northwest Benedict
      - Bloody Mary

The Benedict didn't look like much in regards to its portion size however this little poached egg sitting on this salmon cake, oohwee, don't let it fool you. So much good flavor. Same with the potatoes, they don't look like much but they actually taste good.

The Bloody Mary not so good.

      Service:
The server girl brought the plate out, didn't mention it was gonna be piping hot as she placed it down. I went to rotate and slide it over and burned my hand. My reaction was "holy cow, thanks for the heads up, this thing was hot" she replied, "oh yeah sure" just smiled and said to me, yeah it's pretty hot that's why I have these and shows me her handkerchiefs in hand

      What the hell?!

Not cool. I also asked her for sugar for my coffee. She never brought it

What did I do to deserve this ‍ this place would've been easily a 4+ but service also weighs in.

I'd come back, I'm sure the food is always consistently good here. Can't say the same about service though

How have I missed this spot?! I have driven by the Yakima fruit stand multiple times a week and have never really noticed the restaurant tucked behind it. A friend suggested we go there for HH yesterday and I'm so glad he did.

      The Ambiance
The restaurant is in an old house with plenty of seating and two outdoor patios for hot days when the breeze through the window or open doors is just not going to cool you down! It has an old world feel and is very cozy inside. The only downside is that the restrooms are upstairs so if you have accessibility difficulties this won't be ideal for you.

      The Drink
There is an extensive bar menu including nitro beers on tap, as well as many others that are part of $4 happy hour draught list. The mixed drinks are also aplenty on the $7 list.

      The Food
Everything we ordered here was fantastic. The grilled cheese was crafted so perfectly I'd venture to say it's my favorite grilled cheese in the PNW! The polenta tots were more than I could have hoped for with a just right aioli paired with it. The quinoa cheese dip was robust and delicious on the olive/cheese crostini. The margherita pizza looked simple but was just how I like it - it almost seems like it is done on the grill - perfection! I ate as much as I could and there were still lots of leftovers. 2 people, 5 dishes, 5 drinks, and for $35 each? Now that is incredible!

I can't wait to come back here soon!

Location is gorgeous, on a July day with my family, the sun shining through the open front door right next to our dining table, it was one of the happiest experiences dining out that I've had in a long time. It's such a beautiful, old school house with character and charm, turned into a restaurant. Really cool.
Food was good, we got an assortment of appetizers, entrees, and a to die for homemade lemonade. It was all great. Pricey, but great.

This place is a bit difficult to find. It's set back from the street and the signs are hidden.

It's an older, large place that is broken up into several rooms. The bar had some patrons but the rest of the place was quiet.

The dining room I was led to was sort of stuffy. Staff was super friendly and we received some eating recommendations.

We split short ribs and a pasta. Large plates and we enjoyed both of them. The hh menu looked like it had some goodies too. I had heard mixed reviews but I would come again.

      Updated review

After two years of passing this place, which is right next to my favorite fruit stand I decided to give this place a try. Well let's be honest, I didn't even notice it. Fair warning,Preservation Kitchen can be a little hard to find if you don't no what you're looking for but the maps feature on yelp does a pretty good job of getting you there. Once you've arrived, the location is a house that's been converted.
Be sure to lookout for the sign that says entrance, otherwise you will be trying to walk through the emergency exit. You can either sit in the bar or he more romantic area in the back. My husband and I ended up sitting in the more romantic area in the back.

      The order
      Kitchen coffee (alcoholic beverage) x2
Bloody Mary- best Bloody Mary I've ever had and I don't even like them.
      Drip coffee
      Traditional Benedict
      Duck Hash
      Side biscuits and gravy
      Total $73

Overall the food lacked flavor, it was still , and the biscuit was a little hard. The service started a little slow but picked up the pace. I would go back, I am going back because I would like to try their happy hour and a few other things on the menu. It's also nice to not have to wait a half hour for a table for Saturday morning brunch.

I stumbled in here for lunch one day after battling traffic from Olympia, getting lost, and realizing I'd went all day without eating. I was in search of a local rum I'd been trying to sample and when this restaurant came up as a local venue serving it, I called and spoke with the bartender who was incredibly nice and helpful and invited me to come over and sample whatever I was seeking.

The restaurant is a beautiful old home that has been transformed into a stunning restaurant. I was greeted by a friendly face and quickly seated at the bar and the bartender brought over the rum and poured me a tasting at no charge. While I was thankful to finally get to try this elusive rum I was now on a mission to get me some noms. The food from the other diners was so alluring and the menu featured gf bread solidified the deal. I ordered a duck confit sandwich with homemade potato chips and nursed my tequila shot with a glass of wine (city traffic will drive any Olympian and Previous Nebraskan to drink double fisted)

The restaurant has a lovely intimate feel to it with all of the small separate dining areas. The rooms feel cozy and the elegant yet simple interior design make it feel like an oasis of tranquility. I imagine the restaurant is gorgeous at night and already have designs to get that Fiancé of mine to drive me up here for date night.

My sandwich and chips were delicious. The duck confit was flavorful with the perfect texture and was complimented by their locally acquired gf bread. I intended to stay on wedding diet and not eat all the chips... but let's just say my mama would be proud because the plate went back sparkling clean.

The service was so friendly and accommodating, the food fantastic, the atmosphere intimate and romantic, and the price very reasonable for this area. We'll certainly find our way back.

No matter where you go, there you are. It doesn't matter if you're on a four-lane highway in the middle of a bunch of used car lots. If you want to create a bistro ambiance for fine dining, you go right ahead and do that. Preservation Kitchen has proved that it's possible.

The parking lot doesn't exactly make the first move in establishing this place as a refined oasis in the middle of a commercial district--though if you go up the hill toward the valet circle, it feels a little nicer. There's an old cedar and some other landscaping that starts helping you forget you're seconds away from hundreds of used cars. Once you take a look at the building, though, you know they're not kidding. The old bricks are homey and attractive.

Inside, there's more evidence that the place used to be a house. Plenty of it, in fact. Fireplace off to the left, with overstuffed leather chairs for those awaiting a table. There are hardwood floors underfoot, with quite a few miles on them. The hostess leads you through a warren to your table; the dining rooms feel spacious and welcoming. There's another working fireplace with logs settling, and white linen on the tables.

A winery night gave us the opportunity to try some Oregon champagne. It's great to see local producers being given this kind of exposure, and I love places that do this, even if this particular champagne was on the soapy side. After the sommelier delivered those glasses, our server materialized periodically, bringing plates of mussels, duck, boar, and mousse. He was so reserved in manner that if he could have, he would have taken our orders telepathically.

The mussels were amazing--every one was open, every one was plump and flavorful; the broth was densely flavored, the bread was crusty and chewy, and there were even some herbs frisseed over the top of it all. The duck was rich and beautifully cooked, as was the boar. The chocolate mousse torte dessert was spectacularly dense and intensely chocolatey.

Everything about this place bespeaks seriousness of intent, from the host station through the dining room to the wine program and the kitchen. It's a wonderful little escape if you're nearby. and it's also fair to say that since the prices are reasonable it's even worth a bit of a drive if you want to try a new spot.

Really great spot in the heart of Bothell. I went to brunch at 10:30 on a Sunday and there were plenty of tables available.

Tip: Select $5 cocktails (including mimosas, bloody mary's and coffee w/ Baileys) before 11 AM. The drinks are strong, you will definitely get your money's worth.

The menu has so many great options. I really wanted to try to bacon pancakes, but my hips told me to order the herb omelette instead. Welp, that was a mistake. I wasn't a fan of the herb filling..it was too....herby. I dislike english muffins, but the one I had at Preservation Kitchen was yummy. Oh, and the strawberry jam? Delish!

A friend of mine ordered the Mt. Baker dish. Looked delicious and tasted delicious.Try that, and for goodness sake, please try the bacon pancakes and tell me what I missed!

Good food, strong drinks, attentive service. I'll be back.

I've been to Preservation Kitchen twice now, and I've had wonderful visits both times.

The lunch and dinner dishes I've had have been great, and I really appreciated the great service we got. My first visit was with my boyfriend after we spent several hours playing with pygmy goats on a farm, so I'm sure we smelled a little farm-like. We were also dressed casually, and... we had no issues. Parking was a little difficult because it was packed that night, but the experience was fabulous. He had the airline chicken (with no dairy) and I had the fabulous filet mignon. We both enjoyed our entrees, and even had a dark chocolate mousse for dessert. The meal was a little on the pricey side, but it was very enjoyable and worth it.

The second visit was with fellow Yelper Riss. We met up for lunch and enjoyed catching up in the cozy house, while enjoying some beer and their lunch menu. During this visit, I fell in love with their steak frites and she enjoyed the tomato fennel soup. I don't think I tried any of that soup, but it looked delicious! Definitely wanted some when I saw it. The lunch was also on the pricey side, but seemed totally worth it considering the good food, service, and atmosphere.

I'm sad that I missed the Elite event at Preservation Kitchen so many years ago (it would have been my first one!), and I'm glad that I've made the effort to visit the restaurant even though it's not in the most "convenient" location for me.
