This place is recently renovated and feels clean! I must comment on the air conditioner. Kudos to having it blasting on a super hot Sunday!
Ordered the Beef Stew and Tendon Noodle Soup as well as the Stew Pork and Egg Noodle Soup. Both were pretty good. The broth is lighter in flavor with condiments on the side that you adjust the flavor to your needs (pickled cabbage, vinegar, and hot pepper sauce). I loaded up on pickled cabbage and vinegar. Woot!
The actual meats themselves have been soaked in some sort of soy sauce base prior to being in the soup, so the meats may be a tad bit too salty by itself. Offset it with the noodles and the lighter broth - you're all set!
Noodles are not the hand pulled kind... but good enough.
Service was efficient... not too great on the English though. I must comment on their large tea cups. Kudos as I am a hot tea drinker!

Worth a trip if you like the lighter flavored noodle soups!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Jan 29, 2008
If you have a craving for beef tendon noodle soup or beef noodle soup, this is the place to go. I love the pickled veggies and spicy sauces are at the table and you can put as much or as little as you want.
never seen the basement, all I know is they make good food, you go in, sit down eat and head on out. Not a stuffy place, pretty much straight to the point.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 25, 2010
I don't really eat beef. So... that means I get to eat the other yummies that nobody tries!
The sweet potato fries are AMAZING. Lightly seasoned, reminiscient of bbq, sugar, salt and other delishness.
The salty and spicy calamari. I'm not a spice fan, but the crispiness made for great texture.
The chives pancake - have had better, but this is on par with most places.
The 3 mushroom noodle soup - hurray for veggies! (Not sure if the broth was beef or not though)
BBQ corn is supposed to be really good--- my friends were raving about it, unfortunately I didn't fit it into my stomach.
Space can be a little tight depending on where you are sitting, but for a 5 minute wait on a Sunday afternnon in Flushing, it was great.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Celia Y.Astoria, Queens, NY660343535Jul 13, 2012
The noodles here exceeded my expectations. At first glance, this place doesn't look very lively, as you can see waitstaff sitting down inside the restaurant from the outside window. But this place sure knows how to make a good bowl of beef noodle soup!
Skip the appetizers as everything is fried and probably not that fresh. I didn't enjoy my fried calamari very much. I ordered the taiwanese styled sautéed beef with noodles and it was so delicious. The noodles were a good texture, a little chewy but not soggy, and tasted really fresh. The broth was surprisingly not too salty and suited the noodles really well. The sautéed beef was a bit too salty for me, but it complimented well with a spoonful of noodles and broth.
At around $10 (with tip and tax) a meal, it is definitely on the pricier side for noodle soup, but I enjoyed my noodles very much and would definitely come back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ron T.Forest Hills, NY17527132Aug 24, 2010
I don't really think I am expert enough to be able to comment on the "authenticity" of the food. If it were Japanese Food, I could do that. But I do like Happy Beef Noodle House's Combo Beef Tendon & Beef Noodle Soup with the Pickled Cabbage on the Side.
One of the few places where I really enjoy Beef Tendon.
A Great Inexpensive Meal!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chih-Yu S.Brooklyn, NY2550116Aug 3, 2009
I had beef noodle soup and braised tofu. I agree with most of the people here - the beefs are really tendor and good flavor but the broth is not rich enough. The owner lady was really nice but one of the waiters was pretty rude to a customer while I was there.
In general, it is a good place to go but still not quite authentic.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dee C.Flushing, NY27161180Apr 15, 2009
I love this place, especially after their renovation. They probably have a new owner, too.
Now the place looks bright and pleasant, waiting staff are helpful and cheerful, their noodles are great, the chunks of beef in beef noodle soup are so tender and tasty.
This is one of my favorite place for noodle soups in flushing, the other one would be Shanghai bun on 38th ave by main street.
One more thing, go there and try their beef noodle soup!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Radford T.Queens, NY623452159Nov 15, 2010
I was walking home from the gym one Saturday afternoon and felt like having some beef brisket noodle soup, so I thought I'd pop into a noodle restaurant I haven't been to before in the neighbourhood. And just going by the name, Happy Beef Noodle House sounded promising.
Walking in, I could quickly tell that this is one of those restaurants in Flushing where locals like to go to grab a quick and inexpensive lunch. I sat down and without looking at the menu, tried to order a bowl of beef brisket noodle soup. Unfortunately, they do not have it. What the dealio yo? Then I realised this restaurant was more of a Taiwanese joint - beef brisket is more common in Cantonese food. I was disappointed, but since my ass was already in the chair and I was too lazy to get up and go to another restaurant, I decided to stay and opened up the menu. As Harold and Kumar would say, after walking to the elevator and realising that they've forgotten Kumar's cell phone, "we've gone too far."
But I still wanted beef and noodle. So I ordered a beef stew and tendon noodle soup. Happy Beef Noodle House's menu also has a list of small dishes, which are like appetisers. From this list I ordered pig intestine with pickled sour cabbage. This is a dish of thinly sliced and boiled pig intestine mixed with pickled cabbage, served cold. I love this dish and It's been a while and a half since I've had it.
My food came quickly enough. The pig intestine with pickled sour cabbage was soft and flavourful, and as usual, the taste of the pickled cabbage acted as a great complement to the intestine. And although I like beef brisket much more than I do beef stew, it was still very nicely done. The beef was very tender and really hit the spot.
I don't know if I would recommend Happy Beef Noodle House for the weekend tourist to Flushing, who may be looking for something unique or especially spectacular. But it is a great spot for some quick lunch if that is what you're looking for.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Irene F.Pleasantville, NY67818337Apr 11, 2011
Whenever I wander into Flushing Chinatown, this inevitably becomes a target. It's a surefire winner with an awesome selection, great service, and a knack for feeding any random craving I may have. I love the BBQ corn, which has a great kick thanks to all the spices it's rolled in, and one order is good to split between two people.
The soups of all kinds are piping hot, a personal favorite is the three mushroom soup with vermicelli. You can pick your ingredients, down to noodle type, and slurp away. Don't wear a white shirt unless you have somehow magically figured out how to get hot soup and noodles into your mouth with a shallow spoon and chopsticks and not dribble it all down your front. If you have perfected this momentous feat, please teach me, because apparently I have the culinary grace of a two year old despite years of experience.
The entrees and rice dishes are also great, a personal favorite is the fried seafood rice. Overall, I'd advise going with a group, or just one or two other very hungry people (or those whose eyes are bigger than their stomachs, myself for example). Get a bunch of stuff and share. Make sure to add some homemade pickle to everything, or at least try it, it's delicious! Regardless, you'll end up with leftovers. And that is always a good thing!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Sally W.Jackson Heights, Queens, NY68010316204Sep 6, 2011
Thanks to Jocy C. and her magnificence, I had the Stewed Pork and Egg Noodle Soup for lunch one day for takeout. OMG. YES.
I mean I LOVE PORK BELLY. So soft and yummy. It will be salty so...load up on water. I can totally have this once a week. I love soupy noodles with soft tender pork belly. Geez. I want some NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very affordable. Everyone is nice there, to me. They are willing to explain anything if you have questions....if you need an explanation....they sent someone who spoke English to help me. AWESOME. Very accommodating.
Another time I had the dumplings that were boiled. I love dumplings...sorry....I am Asian and dumplings is a food group. I don't care what the USDA says about the food groups.....how do I petition for dumplings to be a food group??!?!?!?
Perfect accompaniment is hot tea to wash the grease away from you. At least that is what Chinese people say. Soooooo warming.
Happy Beef Noodle House makes me happy!!!!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
