Yes, the art deco exterior and interior of the Cascade Theater is a spectacular renovation of a pre-WW II venue. It's definitely worth a visit just to take in the space.
Nevertheless, my last experience at the Cascade was a bummer. We'd gone to see Taj Mahal, and the sound was muddy -- we couldn't understand a damned word Taj sang that night. I left feeling like it was a bad music venue. It made me sad, given that the is where they're booking a lot of the "cool" music in Redding these days.
Earlier this week TL took me to see Pink Martini on the eve of my birthday. I'd heard of them, but never heard them. Turns out Pink Martini is a band from Portland consisting of about a dozen or so talented and charismatic music nerds who mine incredibly rich veins of music from all over the world, and somehow turn it into this really amusing form of great lounge-lizard music....or something. It's kind of world/big band music in the same way that Lyle Lovett and his Large Band make country swing/big band music. In other words, those categorizations don't even begin to capture what's going on.
Anyway, back to the Cascade -- the sound was perfect. I'd have almost sworn you could hear a pin drop onstage while the band was playing -- that's how crisp and clear each instrument and voice was during the entire show. No sitting there thinking, "So this is what Pink Martini would sound like if I was listening from the bottom of my swimming pool..."
I'm completely cured of my former reluctance to go to Cascade shows.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Dean B.Redding, CA2929474Mar 4, 2024
We love this historic Art Deco venue. It is small and and every seat has a great view.
The Cascade Christmas show was another great show. I don't know who had the most fun, the performers or the audience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marty M.Redding, CA527344Jul 25, 2023
An historic theatre and venue that hosts everything from community gatherings to live concerts to theatrical production, we are all extremely proud of our Cascade Theatre!!!

it was ok ig, the seat that I am sitting on was wet when i got there. I did not feel comfortable, But the nice thing was that i was my birthdag and the guy directing everyone was nice enough to announce it,if it wasn'tfor his kind heart, Cascade Theatre would've gotten a 1 star from me. And if my dad didnt like the 4 seasons to much Cascade Theatre wouldn't have gotten a 2 star review from me. But guess what? My dad loved the 4 seasons so much he would even tell me that we wi not have my birthday planned by me, it will be planned by HIM! Like i wouldnt even call that a birthday

Purchased Ticket to see Shane Smith on 10/7, very excited to see this band made famous on Yellowstone. Paid 147, got the tickets just now, says they are worth 32.50 each for total of 65. Etix, the only company you can buy tickets from added over 100% to the cost of the tickets, and has the temerity to call it market value. Day before the show, still tickets available in every section, so thats a lie as well. Be prepared to pay 100% extra due to the theaters choice of ticket seller. Will never come here again.

We had a great time. The theater is clean, good seating, great air conditioning. Staff service is superb and extraordinarily accommodating.

Wow! What nicely restored theater. According to the theater website, it was built in 1934-35 and opened the summer of 1935. The interior is a feast for the eyes with beautifully restored Art Deco architecture and art. The staff for the evening was a collection of real, professional, and friendly people. We were here for a concert with comfortable seats in the Orchestra section on the left aisle. We had a great view of the stage and the sound system was excellent. During intermission, I looked around and am convinced that there is not a bad seat in the house. I hope that the opportunity presents itself for us to return to Cascade Theater.

The theatre is lovely and the shows are great, but, be aware that if you miss your event and must file a claim through Allianz you are in for a tedious process.

Requiring an exeperimental gene therapy shot in order to enter? Absurd. Will never come here unless this absurdity is addressed and changed by the business owners.

I used to go to this Theater as a kid, back when they had older movies for a dollar. I was excited when they updated and remodeled the place. I went to shows with my parents, I went to shows with friends and even by myself once or twice. Now they are just another venue caving to the Covid Vaccine mandate Nazis.
So disappointing. I won't be coming back until the management is fired and the new management issues an apology for the stupidity and shortsightedness of the previous management. I hope they suffer financially for this decision. It would be well deserved.
I have great memories of this place, a pity I won't be making any new ones.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sky D.Cottonwood, CA0225Sep 12, 2021
This place is complete woke BS! Bought tickets for a concert and there was no mention of vaccination status or mask requirements until after the purchase. I bought the ticket insurance, but of course there is a "Covid exclusion". I'll eat the cost, but I will NEVER go here again!
