    • 90 friends
    • 429 reviews

    That might be true, Pete.

However, we need international support to enforce sanctions.  Without that our own sanctions don't do anything.  We need everyone on board otherwise the sanctions mean nothing.

If we don't give the appearance of being reasonable and trying to negotiate an agreement than when Iran violates it we don't have the support we need to implement sanctions.

We can do things unilaterally, but for maximum impact we need more people on board.  We have no idea what this world is going to look like in 10 years.  Two or three plus years ago it seemed like Iran and the Ayatollah were going to upended by youth street protests.  It didn’t happen but 10 years from now, who knows who will be in power or what their agenda will be.

Schock has been accused of spending campaign resources on private charter jets, luxury hotels, and even a fundraising trip to India. He also held a golf fundraiser at a private course in Maryland, and did not report paying for it. Not to mention he took several trips abroad (without following the disclosure rules). He had his office redecorated to resemble the set of "Downton Abbey" and when he was caught for this one he had to pay back $40,000!

Corruption benefited a constituency (his own). He is purely interested in enjoying the good life at the public's expense (Taxpayers). This goes on all the time (with both parties).

even MAGA is sick of the OrangeUnterFuehrer

The latest Post-Ipsos poll shows just 15% of Americans said they strongly approved of Trump -- a number that translates to fewer than 1 in every 6 people. That's a record low in the poll's history.
For context, past Post and Post-ABC polls indicated that after his inauguration and in February 2025, 27% of Americans strongly approved of Trump. And in the days after the divisive January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, that number was also 27%.

Other notable points from the new poll:

For the first time in the pollster's data, significantly more of his supporters approved of him only "somewhat" (22%) rather than "strongly" (15%).
Just 41% of Republicans and 43% of 2024 Trump voters approved of him strongly.
And just 6% of independents approved of him strongly -- compared to 51% who disapproved strongly.
Even among what is supposed to be Trump's most important demographic -- White voters who didn't graduate from college -- just 24% strongly approved of him.

The poll is not some fluke. In fact, it's at least the fourth high-quality recent poll to show the percentage who strongly approve of Trump falling into the mid-teens.

All trump wants to do is add to the massive climate catastrophe with massive fossil fuel development

"Wildfire smoke blanketed the eastern U.S. from the Great Lakes to Washington, D.C. on Friday, floodwaters tore through Texas's Hill Country for a third day, and new fires erupted in the Pacific Northwest overnight, with 68 large ‌blazes now burning in 15 states.
Millions of Americans faced hazardous conditions and orders to stay indoors, as the country's summer weather extremes converged on three fronts at once: a smoke-choked East, rising water in the South, and fast-spreading flames in the West.
Firefighters are now battling 68 large fires nationwide, up by nearly two dozen from a day earlier. Some 17 new blazes broke out in the Pacific Northwest after a run of lightning strikes made it the most active fire region in the country, according to a summary from the National Interagency Fire Center."

"A number of different stories over the last week emerged from Trump's War with Iran, illustrating the (downward) trajectory of US power. I will begin with the most farcical: Scott Bessent's "D-Day" economic campaign against Iran, which descended into absurdity this week. Predictably, the USA cannot afford to do anything material to antagonize China, and wishes not to do anything to hurt Russia, so the first new group to get hit by this awesome new US campaign was....drumroll please...one branch of an Egyptian bank."

The US military is the paper tiger. Trump is just a carnival barking conman telling the paper tiger to growl.

The obvious takeaway is that we've been scammed by the military industrial complex for decades of failed wars. We have an obscenely funded military apparatus that is completely useless in modern warfare.

"Trump Accuses Ukraine Of Midterm Election Interference After Russian Bot Farm Strikes.

Donald Trump is now accusing Ukraine of "election meddling"...over their drone strikes on the Yandex bot farm near Moscow.

The initial strikes resulted in a 50% drop in bot traffic on social media. And according to Trump, they also caused an 80% decline in interactions on Meta pages ties to MAGA.

Yes, Trump seriously just admitted to the nation that four-fifths of his online MAGA "support" is actually Russian bots, and he's accusing Ukraine of interfering in our elections by knocking them out."
