Extra Space Storage

I have nothing but good things to say about Extra Space Storage in Highland Park. They have a variety of storage options at different sizes and price points. I've been a customer for about 8 years and have always found the personnel to be accommodating to my changing needs. I've had the pleasure of working with current manager Kathleen Grant for a while and she goes above and beyond to ensure I get the right space I need. She even informed me that I qualified for a senior discount, which I appreciated.

I'll say one more thing. I use another local storage facility for vehicle storage. The facility itself and the staff is not up the same standard as Extra Space.

Extra space storage has saved my move. I was in a panic rushing to figure out what I need to do for my move to Chicago and outside of the United States. I looked at their website and their Instagram page which was very helpful to see the sizing guide, and then I'll stop by with no phone appointment and the most delightful customer care agent: Kathleen Grant save the day. I got one of the best storage units. That's so convenient right upfront, and I was even offered their Fourth of July Independence Day celebration discount locked in for the next four months boy. I sure hope I can get it for a year. I feel that my possessions are in the safest hands with extra space storage. Thanks! And good luck with your move. We moved out and closed our unit this month, and Kathleen was incredibly helpful in facilitating that process. In addition, she is remarkably kind, friendly, and easy to work with. A great experience all around!!

Kathleen was so helpful in making th storage process go smoothly. I have been a repeat customer and she pulled up all of my information and filled out fast.
I use seasonally and would highly recommend using them!!

Definitely be aware that if you pay month to month your rates will be increased about every 6 months. They are not very upfront about the rates and frequency of increases. When you receive the notice that your rate will be increased and you attempt to switch from month to month to pre-paying for a year in order to lock in your rate for a while they are unresponsive. I have friends with storage units at this facility and we all feel their practices around rate increases has become out of control.

This is the place to go if you have any storage needs. It is well organized and kept nice and clean. We moved some stuff out of storage recently and I cannot say enough about how wonderful Kathleen was. She was so kind and helpful. Highly recommend this place.

Tremendous service for my needs. I have used the boxes from here to send surgical instruments to the Ukraine. These boxes are the perfect size and Kathleen is the best at service and empathy.

Kathleen at this location is wonderful! Very helpful with everything i needed when i lost my keys and needed to cut and relock and also gave me advice on building layout and having an easier time. Highly Recommend!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I recently called to reserve a storage unit. I was very specific in my request for a unit that had a "large, garage door entrance door". However, upon arriving at the unit - with a van filled with oversize items - I was directed to a unit with a small entrance door! WIth no other available units, I was forced to scramble to find an alternate site. WORSE yet, I have had to place a dozen calls to the manager, Kathleen, and her staff in order to receive a refund - due to their misinformation. Kathleen told me that their system would take a very long time to process a refund and advised me to open a dispute with my credit card company! Hmmm...how is it that they were able to charge me instantly yet somehow were unable to process a refund due?

We had an amazing experience with Extra Space Storage in Highland Park. Our family had a storage unit with them for many years and recently had to clear it out. We had a complicated situation involving multiple family members needing access, a single weekend massive clean-out, and needing to have movers access the unit after we all flew out of town. Extra Space Storage was extremely accommodating and helpful through the planning stages and for the weekend we were all there cleaning out the storage unit. They had to coordinate with multiple family members and a separate business and were so kind and patient throughout it all. They had packing supplies on-site which was very helpful so we didn't have to spend more time going to find these at other stores. And they were very flexible with reserving a new, smaller unit when we weren't sure what size we would need and we ended up switching units a couple times over the course of the weekend we were cleaning out the unit. I couldn't believe how incredible their customer support was; they were angels to us during a rough and emotional period. Thank you so much, Kathleen and Tom, for all your help!
