Service non existent. Food is mediocre at best. Ambiance is fun, but price is insanely high for the quality of food you get. Servers will hustle you to order the most expensive items even if you don't want them. And in the end asks you to tip 15, 18, or 20% after providing zero service and dismiss us half way through ordering. Avoid
Great food at reasonable price with generous portion! Yum! TraditionL Hawaiian food at its best!
Summary: rude service. Average food at premium Waikiki price
Came here for breakfast yesterday with 5 people, ordered some food to go, the lady that took our order was extremely rude as she was filling up our coffee cup with vanilla coffee that we didn't order, i told her if we could have the normal black coffee, to which she replied " you don't want the vanilla? Then you will just have to wait , I need to go brew more" really? As if we are creating such inconvenience for her and her attitude was dismissive without merit.
Then comes the food, breakfast sandwich bread was barely toasted and ice cold when we got it, kalua pig had a pool of grease on the bottom that solidified to white goo fat, flavor was barely there. We had island kalua pig at many places and this is by far the worst. Not sure how this place is so popular. Will not return again
After 10 years have passed , this place along with many other places around Waikiki have gone downhill significantly. To be fair, the flavor of the pho was just as good from 10 years ago, but the value has gone way down. The price has more than doubled ( okay, 10 years have past, things got more costly), but the condiments and meats that came with the pho have also dropped by 50%. You will be paying 15 bucks for a regularly bowl of pho with 5 slices of meat. Also, service has also gone way downhill as well. The host(who was also the owner) was impatient, rude, and dismissive. He forgot items of our orders multiple times And we had to ask him to check with the kitchen. While we're eating, there was another disgruntled table of family who was forgotten and their kids were starting to lose their composure because of hunger. When we went just recently with a group of family member from Europe, the owner chased after the family member who paid the bill ( bc he wanted to treat the rest of the family) to tell him there was no tip left for him. Our family member who came from Europe was not accustomed to the idea felt bad and left additional cash right away, but honestly though, tips are NOT mandatory, it's a voluntary gift after good service experience. After all the attitude, forgotten items, and dismissive comments, he still has the audacity to chase after the party and demanded to be paid tips. Ridiculous. After all the changes over these years, unfortunately we will not be returning if ever we are in Oahu again.
after having way too muh shaved ice, musibi, malasadas, my friend and i are craving our ultimate comfort food--pho.
it's interesting to try to find a pho place on oahu as it's not very prevalent. but we found this place, and surprisingly, it's quite good. my friend ordered the ox tail noodle soup, it's loaded w/ meat and lots of veggies, the broth has a gingery taste (i love ginger) to it, i really like it! we also ordered a side of spring rolls (which was great also w/ fish sauce) and the guy who ordered our meal gave me a bowl of pho soup for free because i told him i wasn't very hungry. and the pho broth turns out to be very flavorful and delicious as well.
who knows i can actually find a decent tummy warming pho place on oahu? ;P
