I'm surprised I haven't reviewed Leopolds before now. It is a staple in Savannah, and I will stop every time I am in town.
This is a nice, old-fashioned ice cream parlor with top notch homemade ice cream. The ice cream is thick and creamy and almost like a custard. There aren't a ton of flavors, but the one's I have had are very interesting. This last time I had Peanut Butter Chip, which was lovely.
Be aware that lines can be very long here. If you see a short line--jump in it no matter what time of day! Highly recommended.
The hotel needs renovation, which is is getting (as of February 2024). I wish the website would have warned me about that before I reserved a room. It's a bit of a mess right now.
I had a serious issue with the customer service here--but to their credit, they resolved it after the fact by providing a full refund. I wouldn't normally expect a refund--but this was the right way to handle our particular problem.
So... kudos to the management for taking the right steps to correct an issue. I'm sure this place will be great when the reno project is finished.
Not sure about the food, but this was one of the few places to get a nice coffee after the local Starbucks close on a Saturday night. Even though it doesn't look like a coffee bar, it surely is -- and you can walk in and get a coffee to go. Thanks for being there when we needed you!
Saw this place while roadtripping from West Virginia to Richmond. When we saw the crowd at lunch, we checked Yelp and made a U-turn. Great decision!
This is an order at the counter and they bring the food to the table kind of place. However, the menu had great variety and the food quality was just fantastic. Highly recommend the Bacon, Lettuce and Green Tomato (BLGT) sandwich. Yum. Also loved the cucumber and tomato side salad.
Even if it is busy, there is a ton of seating here and the food come quite quickly, so don't let that scare you too much.
Highly recommended!
This is a very cute, small cafe in an old house. You might easily miss it if you don't know where to look.
The menu is not huge, but all the items were very well prepared and presented. I had a delicious smashburger, and my wife had the chicken and waffles. Also great was the ABC tater tots -- with advocado, bacon, and a chili aioli.
The girls who run the place are very friendly, and this place definitely has a welcoming "come stay for a while" kind of vibe. Whether you just want a coffee or breakfast or lunch -- you can't really go wrong here.
