FINALLY Whataburger reopened in Vegas.
Sadly, this location - no mater what Whataburger claims - is NOT for locals.
Locals do not frequent The Strip, nor do we pay for parking, fight tourist crowds, or walk ridiculous distances for fast food. Unless we work on The Strip.
Located at Waldorf - it's really in front of Aria - this location is 24/7 and if you're a MGM Resorts employee show your badge for a discount. MGM Grand/MGMRI employees at the Harmon corporate office can easily walk here in under 15 minutes. You can park at Aria & walk OR from Park MGM walk down LVB past Eataly & CVS & it's right there.
The food is as I remember growing up in Texas. After decades of being removed from my favorite burger chain, I come here every other week for my favorite burger meal: a Whataburger with cheese combo...just like I ordered in the early 90s at 3am in the Dallas drive-thru after a night of clubbing. (Lol - ahh the memories)
Unfortunately Whataburger refuses to activate the ORDER ONLINE PICKUP feature of their app...for reasons which they refuse to provide.
Locals want a locals location-not a tourist trap. Hopefully one will open soon. With summer quickly approaching I won't be back until winter.
I've been coming here easily 10 + years. Except during COVID & when I returned I learned Elaine's had moved to a different location. I like it.
I only ever book with Elaine. She's just the best. Funny & talented & more accommodating than I deserve...she takes pride in her work & business & is no nonsense...which is why I only go to Elaine's.
And when I'm not - I'm not going anywhere else. I drive from Seven Hills to her for a reason...give her a solid try. If you're not pleased let her know & she'll make it right.
As a person, she's just great. As a nail artist she's just amazing. She's my ride or die for sure.
Yet another fab visit at Elaine's. If I could come here daily I would. It's always fun when I'm getting my nails done.
Periodically, I'll read new reviews that have been added just to see how things are. I gotta tell ya...while I am an Elite Yelper, I really wish there were controls in place to force people to reveal more about their experience(s) at a business, thus making the review more credible.
For instance a recent reviewer implied she's a regular here. Well, she's not. Read her reviews. They are only about nail salons & go kart tracks. She goes to whatever nail salon she feels like. She is loyal to no one. She also left out of her review the part about how she repeatedly commented about how she loved her nails during shaping, polishing, etc., only to demand a redo because SHE changed her mind about what she wanted. TWICE!! She also failed to mention how she swore at everyone in the salon & it was SHE who ruined her own nail and now blames Elaine. Everyone knows just because your 4 coats of polished nails bake under a UV light for a few seconds doesn't mean they are 100% dry. Dry to the touch yes, but never through & through. My point is...consider the source.
Some reviewers should really learn the definition of customer service. Good service doesn't mean being given your way after you've thrown a tantrum. Elaine bends over backwards to make sure every customer leaves happy & returns. She will do what she must to fix an issue, or make it right the rare occasion when she can't fix it. THAT is good service. Most business owners should strive for this.
She won't however, allow unreasonable & crazy people to verbally assault her or anyone else in her shop, nor will she kill herself trying to please those who, no matter what you do, will never be pleased.
Elaine is good people. She's honest, funny, smart, & talented. It's always a joy to see her. I've never had an issue with my nails chipping, cracking, or breaking and I am very hard on my nails. I've gone more than a month between fills & my nails are still intact. Nappy, yes, but never broken or missing.
As for these psycho, 1-off reviews...Elaine's rating speaks for itself. My point behind this is this: use some common sense, check out the people leaving the bad reviews & see if they leave negative reviews everywhere they go, if they have any Yelp friends, and if their profile compared to their reviews make sense.
There are 5 nail shops in walking distance of my front door. I come here because I like coming here, my nails are awesome, and because Elaine puts up with my crazy ideas. If she truly were the nasty person some of these Yelpers make her out to be, I wouldn't drive 20+ miles out of my way to see her several times a month...I'd walk across the street & save some gas. I'm a regular here & will stay one.
Have been coming here for awhile. I will only let Elaine do my nails.
Had one of the other techs do my nails ONCE and while it was an OK pink & white FILL, it was just OK. THe whites slanted, length very uneven.
Unlike most of these reviewers who'd rather bash a business then allow them the opportunity to make it right...I gave them the opportunity to make it right, and Elaine did. I waited 24 hrs before calling just to make sure it wasn't me making an issue out of nothing & Elaine wanted me to come in ASAP. I wasn't able to do so for a week & when I did, she made it right. I didn't even need to point it out, she saw what the issue was.
Someone mentioned being fluent in Vietnamese. I'm Vietnamese & I'm not fluent, but, ok, whatever. Lets use some common sense here. When people talk about you, good AND bad, its because you gave them reason to. Knowing Elaine & human nature period, I suspect you weren't the most pleasant person. Your comments reflect this as well. By no means am I justifying what went down, assuming it did. But most people I know in this situation get up & walk OR speak their language & then walk. I've done it. Ive seen strangers do it. Why didn't you?
And what does one need a pedicure menu for? C'mon, really? Im getting my feet scraped, not ordering lunch. Menus are not normal. Ive been to those salons that have those menus & lmao at the employees & customers who buy from them. I work too hard for my money; if u want a menu u must not. Its a freaking tactic to get u to part with ur money. Pedis all consist of the same things. You have a menu with flowery words thrown in & u part with ur money for that? Wow! Its simple: $25 for a pedi; $50 for gel. And you are gonna pay $25 extra for gel polish...on ur toes? For something that is $5 extra on your nails? Um...okay....
Again, lets use common sense here. In order to scrape as much of the nastiness off ur feet without hurting u & drawing blood ur feet have to soak for AT LEAST 30 minutes. The longer the better, so why complain about raisin toes? Really? Some of you posters kill me.
Elaine is a great nail person & great person period. She works very hard for her family & for you. I trust her completely. Granted, she is in business to make money, but if what you want to do doesn't make financial sense she is gonna tell ya. She'll do what you want, but she wants u to know you are wasting money before you do it. She would rather u be happy & come back, then pay a lot of money, complain, & go elsewhere. Sadly, not many nail salon owners share this attitude.
So what have we learned?
1. If you don't like ur nails, let her know. She'll make it right. Don't be a jerk & complain on Yelp as an easy out. If you let her fix the problem & ur still not happy...Yelp away.
2. Pedi menus are stupid.
3. If you are being talked about...stand up for yourself. If you are being talked about bc you're an arse...well, thats on you & just leave.
4. LONG raisin feet foot soaks are a good thing.
I used to eat at the original location in AZ. It was soo good. Ecstatic to see they relocated to LV during COVID.
Not in a great location, in my opinion. I'm not driving from Henderson to Flamingo/Paradise just to come here. I work at Trop & Koval and visited one weekday afternoon. My friend flew in from Sacramento & wanted "soul food," and wanted to come here.
I entered and was stared at by the employees & other patrons & even though I'm asian, felt out of place for the first time in my life. I got over it at the time, but months later writing this, it's bothersome.
Our server was fantastic & super helpful. I had the catfish sandwich- it was good but a blackened option would have been nice.
Acoustics in the restaurant are awful (& needs to be addressed), making it louder than tolerable. It wasn't packed this day but I can imagine when it is, hearing is optional & notes or sign language required.
Definitely worth a visit for their chicken & waffles or any catfish item. Catfish is my favorite & hard to find a place that prepares it correctly. Lo Lo's does & I'd go back for that alone. Too bad the location is not ideal.
Food is beyond amazing!
Watch the staff hand roll the various dumplings & wontons while you wait for your table.
Order off a sheet marking your selections. A server will take it and bring your dishes as they become available from the kitchen.
The chicken fried rice? So simple yet THE best flavor I've ever had.
Anything wrapped in wonton is just ...gahhh....super delish.
The soup dumplings were my personal favorite.
I work for MGMRI & appreciated my employee discount. While my office is at MGM Grand it's a quick 2-3 minute drive down Harmon to Aria. Definitely worth the extended lunch. Reservations are a MUST - even for lunch - as this place fills up fast & early. For a chain restaurant based in Taiwan & restaurants all over Asia & Australia, we're lucky to have Din Tai Fung here in Vegas.
Filling & worthy of your efforts. I'm dying to go back.
In the middle of October 2023, I booked a reservation for 6pm for Sunday, 2/25/2024 thru Open Table. A few days ago I received a reminder notification from Open Table about it, and several hours later, received a text from them stating due to some marathon, surrounding streets would be closed.
My friend who was server in this area apparently is more than familiar with this marathon & said it would be messy & we'd be lucky to get there after he missed work several times bc he couldn't cross LVB!!! In essence we'd have to leave at 3pm and pray the traffic Gods would be kind to drivers. Nope. Not gonna risk it!!!)
You mean to tell me they didn't know this back in October 2023 when I booked their first available weekend opening? I would have chosen a different day had I known this marathon was going to take place the same day as my chosen reservation!
Now I'm screwed for dinner and can't get another reservation FOR SIX MONTHS!!!
WTH sort of nonsense is this? Of COURSE they knew in October about this. LV tourism puts out this information months in advance of upcoming events. ALL someone had to do was call or message me in October/November/or even December, and I would have changed my reservation.
Instead, I'm now left with NO PLANS or AN ALTERNATIVE for the event I had scheduled around this dinner reservation for 2/25!!
So while my review isn't about the food, it's about my experience with awful service from this restaurant. If THIS is any indication of what I should expect dining there - no thanks.
So if you want a last minute reservation for this place for this weekend, ya better grab it quick before someone cashes in on my misfortune.
