Nice area, nice dog park, very interesting! Worth a look if you are in the area. Didn't get to go in the visitor center, because we were too early bit I would've liked to.

I had been wanting to do a road trip through parts of the country I've not been to. Needing to get Kansas off my list, I made my way to Goodland, KS. Being that Goodland isn't really a large city, I found myself wanting, or needing to go to the Van Gogh that's there.
Yes, I said Van Gogh in Kansas. Is it real, well no, not really. It's a recreation of the Van Gogh piece, but that doesn't make it any less special. I mean it's like 80ft and weighs 40,000 pounds, can you imagine? Well I can because I saw it.
The park it is located is clean and well kept. From my understanding there is a dog park near by. Ample parking is available. It's not something you' spend hours at, but quick trip for you to get out, stretch, maybe have a seat on one of the benches, but probably not. I like that they are there though.
It's cute. It's fun. It's something I know many people I know haven't seen. It's one of those cool road signs/stops of America that you'd want to stop at when on a road trip. I think the ball of yarn is a few hours away too if you're interested.
I'm more than happy to have stopped here and experienced this.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Karen P.Oakland, CA104744May 25, 2022
Who doesn't like a Van Ghogh Experience. Driving into Kansas there are a few places to hit before going deep into the state. This was one of them. 2022 has somehow so far been a very Ghogh year. We love finding places like this to stop admire and cross off our list. There's lots to do in Kansas but they're so far from each other we do one big one every time we go. If you like paintings, are an artist, or love some attraction selfie spots this is a good place to see something unique to the state. Recommend to see and eat a light snack before heading to your destination. We went when it was freezing so we took our video and picture and ran to the car for warmth. Worth the stop... will add picture later since I dumped it to my computer...

This was recommended to me by the great ladies of the Kansas Travel Information Center as I entered the state. Very happy they suggested this pit stop.
I love the background information on the artist that made this possible, it's great how clean this place is and that people haven't vandalized the property. That was refreshing to see. There are benches to sit and relax, a picnic table with a cover. A guest book to sign and a museum that is nearby (I didn't have time to stop by) that offers a special gift if you go.
Take time to read up on the history behind what makes this possible, how it's been maintained, about the bricks, the whole story. I won't spoil it completely as tempting as it is to spill all of my knowledge on you.
What delighted my heart was the dog park to the right hand side. As you walk into the first gate you can go through the left gate for small dogs or the right gate for large dogs. This added major brownie points in my book.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Beverly O.Goodland, KS0112Feb 11, 2021

Come on now - an 86 foot painting, how is that not fun!
And it's free - woot!
Some people say you can see it from I-70 - but their eye sight must be tons better than mine!
If you get off at the first Goodland exit by walmart you can circle thru town, see the painting and hop back on at the second exit - not too long of a stop!
Also a good little walk for the pups!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Liza B.TX, TX112268159Jun 26, 2016
The greatest thing ever? No. A good reason to stop for a few minutes on the way from Middle of Nowhere Kansas to Denver? yes.
Not a whole lot here, but a good thing to say you have seen, then get back on the road. Having been East and West I-70 200 miles in each direction, this is a good place to stop.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
