If you want a SUPER QUIET place to work/study with NO ONE around, THIS IS THE PLACE! There is a law library here that ANYONE can study in. It's open the same hours as the courthouse, which are business hours (hard to find the hours on the site.) The library has great views of a garden--very peaceful--and the building is historic. The chairs are old though and not that comfortable, but you can't have everything. There are tables and large study carrels.
You have to go through security to get in (It's the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals) but the guards are cool. They understand law students.
And if you get bored, you can wander into a court room and hear some arguments.
FREE PARKING across the street in the lot.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - JG W.Los Angeles, CA24682321Sep 17, 2010

This is the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals court house in Pasadena. The head quarters of the Ninth Circuit is in San Francisco, but this is a pretty active court house since it serves the populous southern california area. The court house is beautiful- a true craftsman gem.

Beautiful building and helpful staff. Basically, the appellate staff kicks the superior court's bum. Park across the street (for freeeee). You will go through a metal detector when you walk in so keep your kitchen supplies at home. All of the clerks are beyond helpful (both for the 9th circuit and the BAP). If you need help, someone is there to help you. The courtrooms are beautiful. Cell devices are allowed, but there is no internet in the court rooms. Plan accordingly. There is also a gorgeous law library that anyone can use.

It's a beautiful building. Formerly a hotel and an Army hospital, now it's a federal court house
