Classy location! I came here to catch-up with a few friends. There weren't many people here as we arrived between 12pm-3pm. We ordered a few appetizers. The fried green tomatoes were delicious! The drinks were really good as well.

I have been here a handful of times and I am never disappointed with service or drinks. But, what you will find is that you're paying a hefty price for a single cocktail due to the environment and history that holds steadfast for this historic hotel bar.

it is classic timely, beautiful, and historically rich as I previously mentioned. It is located downstairs in the Capitol Grille restaurant. It is unaffiliated with the chain restaurant of the same name. This is distinctive in its own right since it is located in the hotel that is next to the Tennessee State Capitol. Therefore, setting itself apart from the standard of the chain. It has a great reputation and has been a long serving staple in downtown Nashville.

Drinks could stand to be $5 cheaper than what they run for on the $18/a drink price tag. I get that the location and what not is attributed to this and people are willing to pay it. I do not, however, have to agree that it makes sense. it doesn't make sense to me. Nevertheless, drinks are delicious and unrelenting when it comes to booze content within the drinks themselves.

Oak Bar is somewhere you want to come to if you want to feel elegance and extravagant. Don't roll in here with a t-shirt and shorts. It might accept that attire, but do not be that person. Save this place for a special occasion and with the right company to go with you. It throws off the aesthetic if you do opt to be THAT PERSON. Don't cheapen it for everyone else. Look nice when you come in.

Am I one who comes to this place often? No, but when the mood strikes me and I have the budget to do so, I will. As a local, I appreciate the place for what it is.

Give this place a try. Impressive bartenders, impressive drinks and to scale everything. It's more of an older crowd.

Try the Empress gin and soda (that's the natural color of the gin - purple).

A classic bar in a beautiful hotel! My husband and I and our good friend were having a night out in downtown Nashville and after the theater we went to the Oak Bar for a (couple of) nightcap(s). The Oak Bar is inside the Hermitage Hotel, so it has a lot of history. It's also beautiful - wood ceiling, wood paneling, leather chairs. They're definitely a whiskey bar (they have a long list of whiskeys available), but they offer everything. Their cocktail menu is varied and all the cocktails we tried were delicious. The cocktails were average priced for downtown Nashville (around $14 a piece), but they are above average quality! The bar is a classic, and it should be in your rotation of downtown cocktail bars! (If it's your visit, go in the main door, down the stairs toward the restaurant - Capitol Grille, and then turn right - the bar is just outside the famous bathroom.)

If the staff wasn't so friendly the vibe would feel a bit stuffy but go for the hermitage mule- I'm not a bourbon girl but this was still delicious and refreshing. Also go for the sweet potato tater tots. Then visit the men's bathroom for a photo opp. Then leave because you will have experienced the peak of greatness by that point. Our bartender Marsha was lovely!

You come her for the historic atmosphere and the old world charm. They have a nice drink menu and the cocktails are well made. That said, service can be a little slow and not initially warm. We happened in here on a night where they were clearly too busy given the size of their staff so it was a challenge. The waitress was terribly apologetic and that was fine but it wasn't the best overall experience. The location is an A, service a C- and drinks a B so average that out and do what you will. It was worth it just to see the hotel interior in the lobby to me.

Great place to grab a bite before going to the theater or a concert. You can pay to valet park and pick up your car after the show as well. Cocktails are well-crafted and inventive. Food offerings are superior for a hotel bar. But then, again, it is the bar in the Hermitage Hotel so they should be. Fried green tomatoes, Hunter's Plate (charcuterie), and the deviled eggs are some of my favorites. Usually crowded but folks are not territorial here. Beautiful, classic, elegant bar.

The Oak Bar is an upscale bar/gastropub located inside of the swanky Hermitage Hotel in downtown Nashville. As I came here on a week night with a friend there was only one other couple in the whole place. The bar has a very timeless feel that transports you back in time. The paneling on the ceiling and the wood paneling on the walls is very historic and elegant.

If you are a bourbon lover then this is your spot. They have the largest collection of bourbon bottles in Nashville so you will likely find what you are looking for. Otherwise, I found the wine and cocktails all to be overpriced. The cheapest wine is the Hermitage's own wine label at $10/glass. The beer is mostly $6 which isn't too bad but if you pay that amount for a Bud Light you might as well be going to any of the honky tonks on Broadway. Although the Capitol Grille inside of the Hermitage is where people most likely will go to have a bite, the Oak Bar has a menu consisting of small plates, salads and a couple of entrees. Although I did not try the food, it looked like a good assortment of offerings from a small menu.

The Oak Bar a cool place to drop in and see for a pre-dinner cocktail or if you have plans elsewhere in the area. I enjoy the ambiance and getting to be inside the Hermitage is special as well.

I'm not sure about the hype of the happy hour, but they get so busy during TPAC shows that Happy Hour turns into Grumpy HourS. If they know that it is extremely busy before big TPAC shows you think they would have more than 1 bartender. This seems like a n-brainer to me. We waited almost an hour for French fries. An hour! Don't get me wrong.....they might be the best darn fries I've ever had, but not that good.
We also had the Caprese (not happy hour) and I was disappointed. I have never been anywhere that touts burrata but then only serves a tablespoon on each out of season tomato with 2 pieces of basil. Definitely not worth the $12-14 we paid. We also got the fried green tomatoes which were incredible! I couldn't have wanted for anything with those!
I doubt we will ever go back because there are so many other options and with service that slow I was miserable.
