No good anymore. Ten to fifteen years ago it was the very best WNY had to offer. Was my favorite, best if the best. What a shame

I really loved my experience here! The setting was just beautiful and the food was very good. The salmon here is just amazing. As it gets darker outside, the place just lights up. The only negative that I have to say about this place is that the service was lacking. They were a bit unprofessional for the type of venue that Schimschack's is. I would highly recommend this place and I will definitely be returning.

This was the first AND last time my family of four will visit this establishment. The prices were wonderful along with the portion sizes. We were deeply dissatisfied with our server. Not only was the table that came in over 45 minutes after us served hot dinners with minimal waiting before us but I needed to keep asking for coffee too. I also was not impressed with seating . In particular I don't want to watch your staff eat when waiting for our food. One thing I did not notice until the end was when clearing dishes yo
should NOT be using the serving trays to serve AND clear. Had I saw that we would not have ate as I am particularly not fond of someone stacking dirty dishes right on the tray that my food has not been removed from first!

Came here with my parents, the first time for all of us. Schimshack's is a throwback to an earlier era -- appropriate given its lengthy history, which you can read about if you go to their website.

I no longer live in Western New York, but as far as I can tell the American food revolution has yet to reach Buffalo and its environs (let me know if I'm wrong!). This is the kind of restaurant that my dearly departed grandpa would have deemed "fancy." Its menu is a typical Western New York frozen-in-the-1950's survey of steak, prime rib, "surf and turf," and chicken dishes, rounded out by a couple of pasta entrées. Dinners come with a salad and your choice of baked potato, home fries, or "seasoned rice." I had steak (med. rare, decent), potato (good), salad (decent). And a créme de menthe parfait for dessert (topped with whipped cream and a cherry, of course!).

The food was good. Not spectacular, but a solid meal. Reasonable prices. Lovely view -- overlooking vineyards, woods and farm fields, and we could see Toronto across the lake. The staff were all very warm and efficient. A nice time with Mom & Dad!

The view is amazing. The decor inside feels very old fashioned yet almost fancy.

The food was mediocre. I felt like I could have cooked it myself. It was very plain with no creativity. The quality of the food was decent.

It seems like it's a really good place for grandparents.

The service is horrible. Empty glasses waited over 15 minutes for anyone to help.
Food is par. Salad is nice.

I love this place, not only because it is family owned and run, but because the food is ultra-fabulous. In addition, the wait staff is extremely friendly and attentive.
Colonial decor, stupendous view, I almost thought it could get no better, then I realized they sell awesome jewelry. Romance is in the air, but you can also take the family to this lovely restaurant.
Have gone here several times on our anniversary. Never disappointed.
One thing I would suggest: please fill the bird feeders. Word would spread around the birding community.

I have always liked coming here because the food was alwasy amazing and the service was great, but the last couple of time I wasn't impressed with the food. The house salad didn't have much to it, there was very little lettuce and a small amount of dressing. The prime rib was kind of dry for it being medium rare and not much au jus either. The service was great and things came to the table promptly, but the food could have been better. Over all the restaurant is a decent place to go if you are looking for an classy, upscale dining location that is reasonably priced.

Once you find it, this is a retro place with a beautiful view. Our large group was seated quickly and served quickly. Appetizers included escargot- which was amazingly good-can't get that everywhere.

Dinner food was good. Steak done perfect the rare one done rare and medium done right too. Salon was tender, cooked correctly with a bit of crunch on the outside. Please do not be silly and order things a place like this should not be good at- such as pasta- one person i our group got it and was disappointed.

Silly thing-one of our group used the pepper shaker and the top popped off emptying the entire contents of the shaker onto his perfectly cooked steak, the server hurried to get a new steak brought out and said upon her return "that happens all the time"-really? seems like an opportunity to get new shakers-just sayin'

The food was good a solid meal. Schimshack's is a classic old school "your grandma's" restaurant & its really really really GREEN inside.

Reasonable prices. The view is amazing -- overlooking vineyards, woods and farm fields, and you can see Toronto across the lake.

The rids are great along with really good appetizers.
