Saucie's didn't have a lot of baked items, 2 commercial stands with 3 shelves each. all items unpriced. maybe the breakfast or lunch is the better choice. java city is the brew.

-powdered sugar on top, thin crust on bottom, tart lemon filling in middle.
-some aftertaste.

-quick service.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Terri N.Concord, CA6528664199Mar 6, 2015
I was feeling saucy, so of course this was the place to be! An early morning appointment in Downtown Martinez calls for a breakfast treat, and I was very happy to offer my $$$ to a private business. Upon venturing in, their pastry case is right in front of you, with their expansive bakery visible behind them, and off to the right are several bistro tables for dining. The service was quick but not rushed, and very kind. I ordered their small iced white mocha, and when I inquired about the croissant fillings when I spied them in the case, the employee came out from behind the counter to make sure she told me the correct filling of the croissant in question. How nice! Chocolate as suspected - one PLEASE!
I grabbed a table with my treat in hand, and the employee brought my coffee over a moment later. The total came to $8 and change, a little steep perhaps but my coffee was tasty and that croissant was divine. Heavenly buttery dough, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, and just enough smooth melty chocolate. You know how so often the chocolate inside a croissant is in large chunks? Not this one, just a velvety filling that balanced beautifully. I sipped my cool coffee, marveled at my luscious breakfast, and watched the world go by on Main Street while oldies played softly overhead. If only every morning kicked off like this!
If you're lucky enough to start your morning downtown and need a pick me up, definitely check out Saucie's, they are sweet and wonderful!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 4089231704Nov 13, 2014
Places like this blow any Starbuck's or Peet's away. Maybe, a lesser selection of coffee, but the breakfast and lunch bites are freshly made and special.
The people behind the counter are friendly rays of sunshine, and the inside is quite spacious with modern, clean cafe style seating to enjoy your ailment. There is also a small fenced off area outside to sit too. I enjoyed my coffee but was totally enamored by all the yummy goodness behind the glass casing. So many delectables filled with so much sugar and carbs! My bf got some bread pudding which was absolutely heavenly. I nearly inhaled my fresh ham and cheese croissant. It left me yearning for more, but my self control was intact.
I've never had their lunches, but considering the exceptional quality of their breakfast bites, I'd be inclined to return for some afternoon fare too.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 8191120950Oct 24, 2014
As far as the coffee goes, I was not impressed.
I came in here prior to meeting up with a friend.
I discovered Saucies on Yelp while perusing for new cafes in the Martinez area, and Like any new cafe shop that I have not tried, I was curious to check it out; and especially considering it took over where Le Gateau Elegant once resided, and which has since moved to Walnut Creek.
I have to be honest, the interior ambiance of the cafe is nothing to exceptionally impressive, however, it's still decent, and certainly has potential.
It was around noonish, and the pastry selection was scarce, with only a few items that didn't necessarily call to me. I did try a sample of their pumpkin muffin with a cream cheese frosting I believe, and from my one tasting, I was impressed.
I ended up just ordering a small latte with almond milk ( a plus that they serve almond milk). It comes with one shot in it, however, I ended up adding an extra one.
The girl working the counter and helping me, was an absolute sweetheart and really went out of her way to assist me by answering a majority of questions I had. As for the coffee? Ugh...I'm not sure if the almond milk was old, or if it was just the coffee, but sadly, it was horrendous, preventing me to being able to finish it. I really didn't want to go back and say anything being the girl was so sweet and went out of her way to answer a ton of questions I had, so I just let it slide.
And aside from the fact that I was not impressed with the coffee/latte, based upon the friendly service I received, and the one tasting of the tasteful pumpkin muffin, I would most definitely give them another shot by trying one of their pastry/treats when in the area again.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Peggy L.Pleasant Hill, CA311384Dec 3, 2016
Terrible customer service! Decent sandwiches and pretty good pastries. I would probably give them 2 stars for customer service (I guess it COULD be worse) and 3.5 stars for food. But I'm posting as 2 stars only because that's the feeling they left me with.
Both of the times I went there, the same cashier (woman in her 40s? old enough to understand how to respect people) treated me like I wasn't good enough to be her customer. It's not like I showed up in a racy t-shirt and torn up shorts on skateboard or anything. She acted like I shouldn't have been asking any questions. I should've just ordered whatever the hell she felt like selling me.
There were several sandwiches and filled croissants listed on their wall. When I asked, a few of them were not available for the day. So I asked her what they actually had that day. She went back and forth between telling me that those in the display case were what was available to "No, no, we can make a fresh sandwich". I asked her if they usually had all varieties (of those sandwiches in the menu) in the morning until they would run out, or if certain items were only available on certain days of the week. She said it was whatever the chef felt like making, and she couldn't tell me if any particular items would be available the next time. What is this a secret society thing? I didn't tell her the code word?
No prices were listed on the wall menu or display. When I asked how much the coffee was, she said, "Oh... I don't know. I have to type it in". Lady this is a friggin' bakery & cafe. You don't know how much your sell your damn coffee? She made me feel so small I didn't want to ask any more "favors". I decided to just have her ring me up - um, no I did not expect the chocolate croissant to be $4.75. I'm not sure if I'd ever had a croissant that expensive. It's a decent size one, but really?
Oh and I later found a 1/3 sheet paper menu off to the side, advertising in large print - JUROR SPECIAL - free cookie with purchase of lunch. Uh, I CLEARLY wore my juror badge (The court suggested that we wore those while in town.), and I did overhear that cashier telling some ladies they would get free cookies with their lunch. I thought maybe it was a combo thing. But no, it was a damn sandwich and she just absolutely dissed me.
Like someone else pointed out, no hours posted on the door. I think b said 7am-2pm.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennie R.San Pablo, CA47830Oct 28, 2016
Love the sandwiches, love the pastries. This is my go to spot when I am in Martinez, looking for something light to eat. I adore their chicken tortilla soup and Turkey cranberry sandwich. Pleasant area, yummy food. The lunch special is a great deal.
I still love copper skillet, but Saucies is my go to eats for delicious sandwichesHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kai R.Pleasant Hill, CA6435791149Jul 14, 2014
Passed by en route to an antique / thrift store. I peeked in, still walking, and the lady behind the counter was just smiling out at us!! I'm already a huge dessert, pastry, anything-sweet fanatic, and she was so welcoming that I had to turn around to check out their fresh made bakery goods.
Glad I did. EVERYthing looked AMAZING! I got a lemon loaf cake, and omg!! That think was ridiculous... can you say YUMMYYYY! I can already feel a new addiction starting, dangit.
Not to mention how nice & friendly both ladies were. Even the tables of customers were chiming in to engage us. It was so refreshing to walk into that kind of atmosphere :)
Another plus, I didn't even realize until I checked in that this place was on my Bookmarks list to try, so that worked out perfectly, hah. We'll def be back!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Bahvee V.El Cerrito, CA452352360May 4, 2015
1 star for the cafe atmosphere although completely empty
1 star for cleanliness
1 fast service again no one here it's 2pm
They lost me at hello with crumby customer service by the lady who was as vague as ever not excited about anything.
The sandwich is $10!!!! Gee! And just so-so. Nothing but a couple pickles, I would serve this with piece of fruit, chips, potato salad or a cookie? Just saying ....
Anyhow could've been worse, but certainly not worth a special trip here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John J.Walnut Creek, CA07Jun 28, 2016
Pros
-Food was decent, I had a brownie, a chicken salad sandwhich, and an iced chai tea latte.
-Small mom & pop operation
-Was quick, and the place had a decent aesthetic.
Cons
-no pricing seemed to be marked down for anything
-Price seemed a bit steep, it was $18 for the above meal which was decent in quality but not anything mindblowing.
Nitpicks*
-Brownie was very rich, you will need a glass of milk for this one
-limited selection
-sandwhiches were prepared before lunch and saran wraped
Overall
- 3 out of 5, its a solid place but could use a few touches
- Decent for lunch especially if you are on jury duty and need something quickHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
