KFC has a drive thru window. here. this means i have to be extra careful so the driver doesn't absentindedly run me over when he/she is reaching for the drumstick while i'm walking thru the drive thru lane.
typical menu, friendly, fast service
eats: new item: "hot wings" 50 cents@ (got email about this)
-didn't taste hot nor spicy
-prepped the same way as their regular chicken: steamed, battered, then fried
-pretty meaty. most flavor is in the batter. too heavily battered for my tastes.
-easily 3.5 stars for kfc afficianados

Four Corners only occupies one corner of 4 at solano and san pablo so whatsup with the name? (blank) if i know, i just write random thoughts on what i come across:
-nice smell of BLT here
-cheap sammies (under 5), pastries(1.5), organic, fair traded coffees
-nice guy running the grill, probably the owner.
-small cozy place
-in a hurry but needed major nourishment not a bite.
menu: pastries, panniss, sammies, organic, fairtraded coffee....
drink: organic french roast (1.75)
-yemeni organic out
-smooth, nonharsh drink (different for a french roast)

Sam's Dogs sell many pedigrees of dogs and turkey too. shakes are also in the mix. not much seating here.

Red House Bakery didn't show any new baked goods that i could see. just ones from the previous days. they looked cheap though. and they do sel Tsing Tao, chinese newspaper here (.60)

New City Bakery

Neighborhood: Portola
New City Bakery opens 6 in the morn. they have the usual cakes, old wives biscuits, buns, and various premade pastries in the glass cases, ready to go. 2 enthusiastic, young ladies were greeting me and asking what i wanted.
i wasn't checking out the ladies, the buns nor the ladies' buns, etc. what caught my eye was 2 trays of "buns" suppossedly fresh from the kitchen. i choose 2 of them.
one lady told the other lady to "open wide" a plastic wrapper and dropped a bun in. the process was repeated with the second bun
eats:
-ham and processed egg bun (1)
tasted ok, bread tasted like wonder bread or those gummy baked biscuits
-pork "sung" bun(1)
sung is fried pork -like flakes taiwanese like to put in their porridge.
bun had similar texture to ham bun, some cheese inside, i think
* 3.5 stars for freshness

-parking no problem at 6, problem in afternoons..

the donuts i had a while ago. since i have no qualms about donuts. they seem to like the same to me. never tasted gourmet donuts so i wouldn't know nor have any comparison.

Fronteras looks like an old taco bell. the menu is plastered mostly in spanish all over the front of the interior. little after noon, just 2 amigos eating a matzalan burrito (8) which has everything but the kitchen sink.
menu: typical of mexican eateries and taquerias. combo rice plates also.
eats: al pastor burrito (5)
-pretty huge with a little bit of everything in it
-pork tasted kind of chewy not tender
-salsa and something tasted vinegary, sour
-rice not fresh, day old?
