Really cool, not sure how prices compare as only looked at a few pieces but the store is great. Some of the reviews make it sound junky but definitely not. I would call it upscale. Definitely some gorgeous stuff and quality. Nice folks work here too.

Visiting Richardson's was like visiting a museum. The quality of the pieces is amazing. The proprietor is unbelievably knowledgeable--he knew the name of each artist, and was able to provide information about the backgrounds of many of the artists.
My only regret is that the piece that my wife and I really loved was outside our price range.

Located directly on Route 66 and facing the rail tracks, Richardson's has a very deep selection and a lot of merchandise for sale. Staff was nice but the prices felt too high for us on the jewelry though the shotgun selection in particular looked top notch.

A true treasure, may well be the finest American crafts trading post in the world. Stuffed literally to the rafters with fine Navajo runs, jewelry Kachina, silver smithing baskets, saddles, bolos, . etc...
Its mesmerizing. THE price marked is never the real price (for rugs think %65 off the marked price) And the knowledgeable sales people are pushy at times.
But they must have $15 million in inventory, maybe more. Don't miss it!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 193528249Mar 9, 2013
Awesome inventory. Funky and fun.
Friendly staff.
Ask to use the restroom and you get escorted past miles of pawn saddles and such.
Don't pay the listed price--they will haggle a bit.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lauren G.Las Cruces, NM413Feb 12, 2019
I had time in the evening for one stop, so I researched trading posts in Gallup, and Richardson's seemed to be the place. I could have circled the store for a couple hours--old pawn, new pieces, countless artists. The person who helped me was kind, knowledgeable, and genuine (maybe the owner?) I recommend stopping here if you are in town--they've been around since 1913 and have the provenance to show for it.

This is the most incredible place to find Native American treasures and a MUST stop if you are within a 100 miles of Gallup, NM. Seriously, I would plan an entire trip around it. Richardson's is a major part of Route 66 history and well-known in Gallup and beyond. The selection is incredible and historical and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I purchased two rugs on a recent visit and the quality for the price is excellent. I must have spent two hours in the place! If there is a Native American Artifact Museum then this must be it!

The ONLY place in Gallup for Native American treasures, jewelry, blankets, lots of super cool stuff. Ask for Wanda; she's a riot. She actually reminded us of the waitress in the steak house scene from Hell or Highwater.

(4.25) ~ Very good selection of 100% Authentic Navajo Rugs at Whole Sale Prices! Note: Navajo Rugs are the "Cream of the Crop" for Hand Woven Rugs, not to be confused with the less expensive Mexican Rugs found in most other stores. Navajo Rugs do command top dollar, but it's worth driving the (2+) hours to Gallup, NM to Richardson's Trading Co. for both the Wide Selection of 100% Authentic Navajo Rugs and their Whole Sale Prices. Because the same Rugs bought in Santa Fe would be (3X) the price you pay at Richardson's;) And yes, they do take Credit Cards.
