A good spot to rest from a couple of hours of intense highway driving. I had to relax my middle finger after flipping off so many highway morons. That little stalk on your steering wheel column? It's not going to bite you, I promise. Do your highway neighbors a favor and SIGNAL when you're changing lanes. Ugh!
Anyway, I stopped here and managed to get a half hour nap. Very few parking spaces are in any sort of dark area away from the overhead lights. I suppose this is intentional, but when you want to be out of the light for sleepy time, it's a bummer.

Rest area. Stop, stretch, use the bathroom (quite clean and well lit plus they have a 'family' one), grab a soda, and back onto the highway in a blink!
Plenty of parking, though nothing that is out of the sunlight or a dark spot if you wanted to grab a short nap. The North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Memorial is here.
But here's the weird thing. During this small 5 mile stretch of I-85, the northbound and southbound lanes are on OPPOSITE SIDES OF EACH OTHER!

I'm usually next door at the Wings place, but today I wanted something a little different. Good choice.
Great selection of quickly made entrees. I do not think that they pop stuff out of a microwave here at all - it's made right to order. Friendly service and so darned fast! You can see right into the small kitchen where it's all prepared.
I had the chicken curry with brown rice. Great flavor with nice, crisp veggies and plenty of them. Lots of chicken too! Clean plate! A great deal for a fresh meal for under $7 with tip.
TV's on opposite sides of the restaurant. Parking is a bit of a challenge. Try the lot across the street next to Moe's and the YMCA.

Driving home last week, one of my tires decided that it wasn't happy with being round anymore and it wanted to spend more time playing golf. A flat. I managed to get the donut on and got to Discount Tire the next morning.
The staff were quite friendly and very knowledgeable. No problems at all with the explanation of how much it would cost and how long it would take. I walked down to the nearby shopping plaza for lunch and when I returned, they were just pulling my car out of the garage.
The only reason I couldn't give it that magic fifth star was that I realized later that they never offered me any choice in the replacement tire. I might have wanted something just a little less expensive. On the plus side, he did offer me their road hazard coverage not just on the tire I purchased, but also on the other three that were still okay on the car. And he gave me a slight discount when I twitched at the $162 bill.

The full rainbow of Hanes brands knickers and outerwear are available. All sorts of unmentionables on display. But for an outlet, the prices were totally not there. My Hanes five pack of tshirts that I usually pick up from Wal-Mart at $8 was $14.99 here. Yes, it's the same package. Maybe the other stuff in the shop are bargain priced, but I was turned off by this and bailed.

Knives, cutting boards, pots and pans, vegetable peelers, cake icing things. Plus a variety of spices and sauces to go with it. Some of those sauces and dips are out for taste tests. Yummy.

Great selection of Levi's products - tshirts, jeans, hoodies - at the regular Levi's price. All the usual styles are available including 501's, 505's, 550's, straight, boot, relaxed fit and more. I didn't see any real bargains to be had.
Famous for shoes, I guess? This outlet shop has a collection of name brands, neatly organized by style with a model of each one on display. Underneath, a random selection of sizes. As is normal for shoe stores. I did see some decent ones, but the prices were only okay.

Taking the scenic route is a good thing. It brought me along this road where I got to see this beautiful dam. A favorite walking spot for the exercise crowd, there are parking areas at the north and south end of the dam and a walkway that gives you a lovely view of the lake and at the same time is well protected from intrusion by an errant driver.

Once parked, it was the standard friendly service as at every CB. Gift shop selling trinkets and candies, lots of coffee refills, mildly greasy and salty meal (two eggs with sausage patties, biscuits, gravy, grits) and back onto the highway.
