Outstanding customer service via phone. I called to place an order of several bottles for a party, they looked up my boss' account and order history, and delivered everything within 20 minutes.

Best liquor shop in the area.

Soooooooo many wines. Soooooooo many scotches. Soooooooo many whiskeys. Soooooooo many everything! All the people here are so nice, friendly and GENUINE. There have been so many times where I'm looking for something good, but not too expensive (and not too cheap either!) and they always give me options and have actually made suggestions to me that are CHEAPER and have tasted fantastic.

I mean generally I know what wines and spirits I like, but whenever I'm looking to experiment or impress - I come here. Also, doesn't hurt that they are located around the corner of my office, but still - this place is great and I've been a customer of theirs for about 4 years

They even have a great website that's informative, easy to use, and kept up to date. They've even been helpful to me over the phone. I wish I could give this place more compliments, lol - 5 stars! :).

I happen to randomly walk in here one day, I am an avid collector of any sort of RARE JACK DANIELS. I was greeted right away and asked what I was looking for . i told him a collectors/gold medal JACK. he asked how much you wanna spent with a heavy accent, i replied 100 bucks.

he took me around the corner and showed me the DARN bottle I was looking foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. ok ok so I acted Dumb and told him eh , this is not what I was lookin for but how much?

he said 150, i said can I make an offer he said no 100, i said then what ? anyways we settled for 130. the guy did admit that he did not take me as a serious buyer and apologized later on. I guess a lot of olks made him remove this bottle till somebody legit came around

overall a nice store, extremely busy, and the best selection , even better than the warehouse place downtown.

Walking into PALS is like walking into a hoarder's paradise. There are bottles of everything, everywhere. While it seems like they just throw a case here, toss one there, if you ask anyone in the store where any bottle is, they can point you to it without a blink. Right now, they are on my Top Best Places in the City list for having the Texas Limited Edition Absolut bottle which no other liquor store in the city has even heard of (well, at least the 3 others I ventured to).

Their prices are extremely fair for the city and perfectly convenient to Grand Central if you want to stock up for your Amtrak ride home. Occasionally they'll have vendors in to do tastings, which are free! Though the store is extremely cramped and always busy, the guys behind the counter still have a sense of humor and a smile on their face when it's your turn to check out. I definitely recommend that you make this your go-to liquor store!

"I've had better not more convenient"

Well this place is the Tinder of liquor stores. They will instantly match you with the selection that suits your style, taste and budget. Truly centrally located, you can easily pop in and pick up a bottle, without detouring from work to your party destination.

      The grins
      * Great selection given the size of the store and it's location in Midtown
      * Especially deep wine selection
      * Very knowledgeable and friendly staff

      The groans
      * It's a little pricey, but for this neighborhood it at par
      * It's a relatively small store. Don't expect to find that rare 20 year old single malt aged in sherry casks here

Great! Had exactly what I was looking for [Johnnie Walker Platinum]. I didn't explore much but from what I saw, they have a great selection, including high-end stuff.

Staff was super nice, and once hearing that I was purchasing a gift, offered to gift wrap it free of charge.

Would definitely recommend and certainly return.

I wasted more than an hour trying to find a hard to pronounce wine to give as a thank you gift. I was looking for 2004. I searched online and called quite a few wine stores in Manhattan. No luck. It was either sold out or not carried at all. As I was about to throw in the towel, I came across the website for this lovely establishment. They did not have the year I was looking for but they did have a 2001 which apparently was even better. I called it to have it put aside. When I got there they had my wine waiting. It costs less than what I was expecting to pay. Score! They also offered (and I accepted) to gift wrap for free.

The store itself is on the small side. I went on a Friday afternoon when it seemed like every person in Manhattan was stocking up for the weekend. So very crowded and it took a little longer to check out. If you're paying with cash it moves faster.

They sell the hard stuff and wine. You gotta love options and variety.

5 stars for great service and for coming to my rescue.

My friend was making steaks so I wanted to bring some vino. This place had what I was looking for. I don't know much about wine except that red goes with steak and I wanted to pay less than $20 for a bottle.

An employee assisted me and led me to what I wanted. His first choice was a great bottle of Avalon California Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 ($18) that was fruitier and had a softer taste (ladies were present at the dinner party so this was necessary). I asked him what his close second would be and he then led me to Klinker Brick Zinfandel 2006 ($21) which was a bolder taste and would stand up better with the steak (gentlemen were present at the dinner party so this too was also necessary).

He told me that if I bought the Klinker then I could get the Avalon for $9 which is obviously a sick deal. I thought that he was cutting me a deal when he pointed to their promotional poster that said buy one bottle, get the second half off for August only. I didn't feel so special anymore but I did feel like I got a great deal. Hopefully I'll have another dinner party to attend to come back here and take advantage of their great deal.

Also, he informed me that they are more known for their whiskeys. I told him that I would come back here when "my old man was in town." I don't know why I said that because I live with "my old man" in Long Island and he doesn't drink anything but Coors Light. I think it just seemed like a proper thing to say when a winesman tells me that their liquor store is known for their malt scotches. Maybe I should bring me dad here anyway.

If you are looking for Single Malt Scotch whisky, this is the first place to check for anything beyond Glenlivet, Glenfiddich and MacAllen. Their selection is unmatched in NYC, which probably means it's the best selection in the USA.

They also have a broad selection of wine, other brown whiskeys, white goods, etc.

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

They have occasional tastings where I've discovered a few things I'd never have purchased on spec alone.

The only negative: on the "regular" stuff, they are sometimes a few dollars above the best available local price.
