Korzo Haus

Gewd.  Real gewd.  Deep fried everything.  Sausages.  Burgers.  Beers.  Cozy.  Rustic.  Gewd service.  These are the words that aptly describe Korzo Haus.  If you like these words, go on in.  However, do keep in mind, like most tasty places, a trip to the gym will be proper ex-post facto.

I would say that this is definitely a place that I'd bring out-of-towners too.  Everything seems to taste good.  The service is friendly.  Prices are fine.  They have a good selection of beers.  I don't know if you can go wrong with anything on their menu, so long as you like manly food.

I guess the only thing is that seating is a bit tight, but a lot of good places are.  What can you do?  This is the reality of real estate in the city.  But, you know what?  You'll bare it, because deep fried burgers are bad for us.  But, not so bad that our fat asses can't keep from spreading it out for a little while so we can make them fatter.

Come.  Eat.  Drink.  Go to the gym.  If you don't do the 4ourth thing, then you might not be able to do the first three next time.

This place has so much potential: good beer selection, seemingly ample space, good prices, etcetera.  But the ceiling for fun tends to be lowered when bad bartenders man the counter.  Maybe it was a bad night for her, or maybe she's just a bad person in general and only worked there the one time I was there, or maybe she no longer works there and this review is no longer useful.  But maybe she is still there, and maybe she works there on more than one night a week, and maybe she's just a bad person who skipped bartender etiquette class.

I was buying beer and she would tack on an extra $1 to the bill each time.  I said why is this, I thought the price was this?  Evil bartender responds that she knows and that she's tacking on a $1 tip anyway.  Because $1 is not worth my time to squabble over, I simply gave her my 100 pennies and moved on.  I left quickly thereafter.  I've also told many of my friends of my experience.

Maybe I need to give it another shot.  I don't know.  When there are so many other options along Atlantic Ave., why risk the chance that I'll get another bad bartender?  It says something about a bar owner who hires such people.  Maybe their lack of prudence will manifest itself in other ways.  I probably won't come back until I know for sure this bartender is gone.

Again, Roebling has potential.  But not when evil people are about!

It's IHOP.  It is what it is.  I always thought IHOP was better in its heyday, but it's gone downhill.  I don't know if it's just this establishment, or other IHOPs too, but it ain't what it used to be.  But I mean, for less than $10 a dish, how can you go wrong with decent food that doesn't taste bad and is doled out amply.  Good place to come after a long night or if you just feel like some cheap breakfast food.  I kinda think a good diner might be a better option, but sometimes, you just wanna get your IHOP on.  No qualms about it.

Kiky Jewelers

Awesome stuff, staff, and service.  I knew almost nothing about diamonds before coming in, and now I can run my own jewelry store.  I'm a fan of hyperbole.  But still, Kiky (the owner) knows what he's talking about when it comes to diamonds and really takes the time to explain everything without making you feel like a dumbot.  I didn't feel like I was getting the rug pulled from under me at any time.  This feeling may have been drastically different had I visited Diamond District/Jewelers' Row on 47th St.

The store is beautifully laid out with much to look at.  There's a great selection of different settings, rocks, and other jewelry pieces.  If there's something that you don't see, it was made clear to me that they can do custom pieces too and make sure you're satisfied with whatever it is you're looking for.  Basically, I got the impression that they're willing to work with you to make your needs (her wants) are met.

I'd definitely come back here again for future jewelry purchases/adjustments/etc.  There's also ample parking nearby and tons of retail/restaurants as well.  It's in a good part of town where you can get a lot of errands done at once.  Not to mention, who can hate on the name Kiky?  Freaking rocks.

HMS Cleaners

There's not much to say about dry cleaners except when stuff goes wrong, but here?  Stuff is always right.  I always get my clothes cleaned on time and the service is always great.  It's located right by the Franklin Ave. subways so it's pretty conveniently located to or from work/school.  Since it's on a major street, there are a lot of other shops around so you can get all your errands done at once, or drop your stuff off as you're going to dinner because they're open fairly late (8pm or so).

Some say that the prices are a bit on the expensive side, but I don't think that's the case at all.  I think everything is fairly priced and I've never had a complaint about them.  I'm saying this as a graduate student too.  I have no monies!

Holy freaking cow bells ringing!  This place is off the chain like nobody's business of fixed gear hipsterism!  Everything is gewdy gewd gewd.  Everything I ate was like crack.  I was pretty sure the chefs thought replacing MSG with crack would get people to love their stuff and write half-literate Yelp reviews because they were Yelping under the influence ("YUI").  Don't tell the po-pos round the block!

I came here for a friend's birthday.  5ive of us.  All dudes.  All hungry.  All selfish.  We ordered, ate, and died, revived, ate, burped, and died.  This is a place where hunger pangs come to get gang banged.  And it will be so gewd.  Holy freaking cow bell, will it be so gewd.  Why, yes.  Yes, it will.

There are some staples that you have to order to ensure a good time, although I do think most of their menu is crack laden enough that you shouldn't be able to go wrong with any selection.  Roti Canai is obviously a must.  It's kinda like naan from an Indian restaurant but lighter, fluffier, with a better tasting dipping sauce.  You will seriously dip the sh*t out of your Roti.  It will be excellent.  Char Koay Teow, Beef Rendang, Chicken Rice, Coconut Rice, and Crispy Fried Squid are also all very delicious and you can't go wrong.  Apparently the Seafood Scramble Egg Chow Fun is also good but I was not able to get that.  The one thing I didn't really like was the Hainanese Chicken because it's just wet.  Like its kind of like poached chicken with the skin still on an intact chicken.  No pulled meat.  Just wet.  I don't like wet chicken.

I will come here again and again and again.  It's definitely a place you will bring your out of town friends, unless they're tourists.  The only way they're not tourists is if you yourself are not a tourist.  That means that you needed to have lived in one of the five boroughs for at least three years.  Actually, if you live in Manhattan you need to have lived here for at 5 years to qualify as a non-tourist.  If you live in Brooklyn/Queens, then 3, though if you live in Williamsburg or Brooklyn Heights or Long Island City, then it's still 5.  Bronx and Staten Island are both half a year.  If you decide to live in NJ or Long Island or CT, you will forever be a tourist, unless you first lived in one of the aforementioned boroughs.  Get that visa!

Park Delicatessen

Really kewl stuff.  Park Deli kind of epitomizes what is changing Brooklyn: eclectic good taste.  It may have been solely a deli or a florist at some point, but today there is a smorgasbord of goodies strewn around beyond the misnomer of a name.  Skater gear, t's, beanies, handmade jewelry, handmade cards, candles, soap, kids clothing, etcetera.  It's one of those places where a couple can come in and both be enamored with the inventory.  Everyone is entertained and intrigued.

It's owned by a husband-wife team, the wife whom I've had the pleasure of meeting while looking for a bouquet of flowers for my fiancee.  For $20, I got a very exotic, well-put together bouquet.  It wasn't a lot of flowers, but the selection seemed carefully done and each stem complemented the other.  I liked it, and more importantly, my fiancee liked it.  Other people also complimented on them as well.  I'll definitely return to get more flowers and etcetera.  Gotta bring the other.

The only gripe may be that some of the stuff is a bi pricey, and there are no price tags anywhere so you have to constantly ask how much stuff is.  At one point, you just don't want to ask anymore because you probably won't buy anything because you'll be disappointed by the price.  I think some of that is substantiated by the quality of things (e.g. handmade card $5-$6) and some of it not justified at all (e.g. skater beanies $30).  But I suppose, this is the gentrification of Brooklyn.

Zaytoons

This place is indicative of the Brooklyn that used to be before New York Mag and real estate magnates inflated prices of everything in Kings county: Good, modestly priced food.  Came here with a group of 20+ and they were able to accommodate all of us.  Fast, friendly service, and the food came out quickly which was tasty.

Their pizza is excellent.  I got a little taste of my friends' platters as well, which all proved to be great.  There's nothing fancy about Zaytoons, but there's a reason why there are multiple locations throughout the borough.  People appreciate good food at good prices.  Mediterranean is done well here*.  Though some may think pizza is out of place along with all the Greek platters, people tend to forget that Italy is part of the Mediterranean region.  That's right.  I paid attention in class when geography was still taught in American schools.

Come get it.  It's good here.

*Disclaimer:  I'm not 100% Mediterranean.  But I've eaten enough falafel, gyro, and the like to qualify as at least 15% Meditz.

Okay, Pete.  I'm sorry.  I ate a lot.  I drank a lot.  I might be subject to a future "stop accosting server" email.  BUTT, what if I told you, that the servers accosted me?  I mean, considering the small, Brooklyn venue, one could not help but be within the avenue which every server took this fortnight.  I tried to get out of the way, but at every which turn, I was either elbowing a potentially spilt pitcher, or risking my elbow's cleanliness by dipping it into some baked beans or mustard/sauerkraut residue.  I tried, I willy did!

But if it's any consolation, my head hurts a bit now.  I I drank too fast, and I didn't drink enough Foxon soda to disperse the quick alcohol; but I must say the Ginger and Orange flavors were exquisitely sugary in the most natural of ways.  Like sugarcane.  Also, I wasn't the one who leaked the "stop accosting server" email to Gawker.  I hate Gawking.  Consolation granted.

I came to Bark before, but now I have came to Bark after.  I loved it every which way.  So has my stomach.  Pete, you never fail to impress.  I truly think that with every YEE, Yelp grows in the finest of ways; because when non-Elites try to come to Bark, or another fine, fatty establishment, and realize that they can't because Elites have taken over, they then know that Yelp has power.  And it is this power that obligates non-Elites to attempt to tap into it by frenzily reviewing their frenzied eating and whirlwind drinking.

Thanks for organizing Pete.  It was awesome.  Also thank you for the time.  It is red and it is nice.  Also also thank you for feeding/liquifying me.  I am a poor graduate student who needs to eat like a bear - who has the hunger of ten bears - in order to stay the inevitable hunger that comes from hibernating in the library.

Solid.  Beers are vast in array.  Bartenders are polite.  Space is plentiful.  Vibe is lively.  I came here on a Friday night and had enough fun to leave me in want for a return trip.

I must fully disclose that my experience was wonderfully colored by the fact that Empire Brewery was in in house to promote their tasty, and for one night only, free brews.  Though free brews won't come by again anytime soon, I think it's saying something when a local Brooklyn brewer decides to bestow their goods upon you.

It's a very good thing.
