Situated in the heart of Belmont Shore, Papalucci's brings the taste of Naples to Long Beach. Owner, Dan Tarrantine, calls it "home cooking made simple" atrributing many of his made-from-scratch recipes to his Grandmother. The checkered tableclothes and open kitchen enhance the casual dining experience, giving the feeling of being at home and eating with family. Regulars line up for the famous Pepe Salad and garlic balls or Grandma Tony's Special Pizza. Everything is cooked, fresh to order and the reasonably priced menu includes an array of pasta, chicken and seafood dishes. Some of the most popular dishes are Carbonara, Chicken Marsala, Mussels Marinara, Henry's Special Shrimp and Luis Shrimp all served with Grandma's special Marinara.

Okay once again I'm finally back from Northern California I'm back landed here in Long Beach on 2nd Street here at a restaurant by the name of papalucci's Italian restaurant I ordered the baked ziti which had a great meat sauce a little spicy kick to it the caprese was good we ordered the salad called combination selling a must-do salad it is great
If you get the chance swing on by there open kind of late great selection of wines especially Reds if you're into that I didn't try the coffee here this time maybe the next time I'm also understanding that they have phenomenal pizzas reading off the menus the pricing is great cost-effective
Just do yourself a favor and ask for Kennedy when you're here she's the greatest fun charismatic and just very talented

My final post on Papalucci's. After 29 years they are closing Monday. Danny, Ann, Bo and Carolyn Tarentine are true icons in Long Beach. Had a farewell dinner on their last open Tuesday. Such amazing and delicious food. Mussels, garlic rolls , salad.... I hear they are going to sell their house made salad dressing nationally. Happy to be their first customer. Wonderful stories took place there and lifelong memories over the three decades.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH DANNY TARANTINE.
We all live our lives and know we will be defined by many factors when our final days come. Danny has many more days however he defined a true definition of character, kindness and great skill with his time owning and running Papalucci's.
Thanks again Tarentine family.
Last day open, Monday September 30th.
PapContinues to amaze me as it's everything all restaurants should be. Excellent food and service, all done with love. A true family owned, genuine restaurant.
Last night enjoyed the Angel hair and Mussel entree, and Brussel sprout appetizer. The salad dressing is so good it should be commercialized and sold in stores. Much better than any available product. The garlic rolls are unique and melt in your mouth.
Just wish Papalucci's was closer to my home.
Ordered a large pizza to go for the family members who could not join us. The Shrimp pizza is incredible for anyone willing to go beyond traditional. For the traditional, the Danny Boy pizza is named for the owner, you know it's excellent.
Love this place.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Dec 21, 2018Previous reviewRead the previous reviews and can't speak to the recent past. Currently, the owners are the same people who started the restaurant decades ago, have excellent food at great prices. Personally appreciate the personal food they make which is not chain driven. Papalucci's is a unique, friendly, personal dining experience. Still my favorite place.

My high school friends and I have been going to Papaluccis for 20+ years. LUIS is one of the reasons! He remembers us, remembers what we orders and is always incredibly kind to us.
Barb and I cheated and visited Papaluccis on our own. Another delicious lunch, Luis made us a beautiful lunch and Courtney provided beautiful service. As long as Luis and Courtney are there, all of Wilson High School alum will spend lunches (and dinners) at PapaluccisHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 13, 2018
This place could easily get 5 stars but it wasn't perfect! I will go over what most people look for in a restaurant so here you go. Quality of food was great! Taste was fantastic! Cleanliness not too good . Very dated furniture and the service was ok. I had to stand up and tell the server we wanted bread, but after that she became more attentive. Parking was easily accessible. Overall I will most likely comeback .

I love the service here! everyone is ALWAYS fantastic! I always feel like I'm in my friends living room and I love it!!! the food is super good and they have Yelp check-in perks!
I usually come with a big group. this time, we made reservations for 10 but had to ask the hostess for help when our 10 turned in to 20 people showing up. the crew was so calm and quickly arranged a few more tables to accommodate us without even batting an eye. We ordered a TON of food and EVERYTHING was delicious. If you have never been, you MUST TRY!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Brigitte P.Long Beach, CA203102208Jul 17, 2017
Not sure how we hadn't made it here yet, but we will definitely be back! The garlic knots that you get from checking in on Yelp are damn delicious! Drenched in butter and garlic. Fat kid paradise.
I got the pasta carbonara, which was pretty good and bae got fettuccini alfredo with chicken, also good. His pasta was a little too al dente in parts and the pancetta and onions could have been a little more cooked in my dish, but overall the food was full of flavor. We did walk in 30 minutes before closing, so I think the kitchen rushed our order out a little too soon. Hoping for a bit more care with our meals next time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 11, 2019
Best Italian food... ever! Try the garlic knots for sure! In fact, get two orders. Love these! Pizza is great! So much better than take out pizza. Pasta Carbonara, chicken piccata and the lasagna are some of our families favorites. We look forward to coming here! Not sure why it says closed, we just ate here. Say it ain't so. Quality and great service.

It's lost its touch.
I used to come here in my dating days (15 years back) & really impress my company. Now, I feel a sense of pride has left the restaurant's atmosphere. Disappointed last time I went here with my family. They were from out of the area & I wanted to show them our local cuisine.
Let's just say if I'm back, it will be a make or break experience to determine if I return. When I dine out, I prefer above average. Hope they pull it together!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
