We toured this lovely town for a few hours, and our tour guide highly recommended this bakery for gingerbread. The associate walked me around and explained the different flavors, and provided samples. We sampled some, and then decided on five bags to purchase, as she noted that the gingerbread would stay good for quite awhile. This was a month and a half or so ago, and I can say, the gingerbread still tastes amazing. Highly recommend!

This was the final stop on our food tour and it was a great second dessert and opportunity to pick up some unique Strasbourg food item gifts to bring back to the states. Pain d'Epices Mireille Oster is known for their gingerbread and seeing as how we're about to enter the Christmas season, this was a perfectly timed stop.

This spice and gingerbread shop has been in business since 1933 and we had the opportunity to smell and try to identify some of the spices they use here. Yes, pop your mask off briefly and see if you can work out that one is lemon and that one is anise and that one is cardamom.

I bought some heart shaped cookies to bring home to my lovely wife and thankfully, the CBP people at JFK didn't mind.

I loved this busy boutique with over twenty one different flavors of ginger bread ranging from traditional seven spices to red pepper. The friendly associate gave me a sample and then explained every flavor and every type of gingerbread from hearts to bars which are sold by weight. The bakery is in the back of the shop. I purchased the cinnamon which I usually only find at the German Christmas Markets during the holidays. The cookies are fresh and delicious. Reasonably priced. Yummy gifts to take home! www.mireille-oster.com
