Golfing? Looking for a place that is better than Torrey Pines but not as great as Pebble Beach? This is your spot!
Restroom in the clubhouse was nice. I wouldn't say as nice as Sandpiper in Santa Barbara but it was fairly nice. The restroom located on the course is definitely on the run down/cheap looking side.
I really like the layout of this course because there's truly never a bad view. You see the ocean on every hole except the first one and the American flag which was kinda cool! Some of the tee boxes however could use a mini makeover. There were so many divots that needs to be fixed.
There was a overcast when my boyfriend and I went so it got a bit chilly throughout the day. I would definitely say dress a little on the warmer side if you're a spectator. Which by the way is $55 dollars just to be a spectator. Thats a bit on the pricey side but I guess its worth it to go somewhere relaxing and just take in the beauty of the course.
The course really makes you plan out your tee shot, my bf played from the tips and did better than when he played on the blues. Why? The 15-20 yard difference can literally put you in an ideal place or a terrible place. (but of course everyones length is different so in general be Mindful of how you play each hole because this Course demands great strategy) the greens are in great shape as you would expect from such a course. Fairways are always beautifully mowed. Bunkers are all over the place but are easy to play out of.
Golf carts-gave good gps information. you can even preorder food prior to getting to the 9th tee on the screen. the ice chest on the cart was one of the best i've had. my drinks stayed cold the whole game and the ice barely melted! They also provide you 2 bottles of trump ice water bottles. one of the carts that was teamed with us had a tire that was pretty worn though. the inconvenience aspect of the cart is the sand that they give you to repair your divots. you gotta scoop and walk quite far to repair it. versus the old fashion way is when they have those containers and you just pour it on the divots which only equals one trip versus 5. The screen does remind you to keep up the pace of your game. It provides wait time and time in case you don't wear a watch.
There is a cart girl that drives around. Which I only saw once. They have a nice putting and range area. Complimentary valet parking. the marshall drives around. I saw him twice!
There was a few bathrooms scattered on the course. Not as much as Pelican Hill in Newport but at least you dont have to wait until you're back at the clubhouse to go on the 9th.
Tee time was at 11 and didn't finish till 4pm. You do the math. There's 3 waterfalls on the course. I saw a lot of black swans and a big pelican just chilling around on one of the tee box. There aren't a lot of trash bins around the course. What I'm used to is a trash bin at every hole. That doesn't exist here.
I do want to give you a suggestion. Don't talk to loud on the course. You can hear so much because for some reason it trickles around. Also, be prepared to a few golf balls. So come prepared and if you lose them you're advised to not look for them.
Happy golfing! May you only lose 1 ball!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Martin E.Los Angeles, CA46115Feb 18, 2018
I went to this restaurant 3 times in the last 6
Months. The view is amazing and unique. Beautiful park view with the sea and Catalina Island are definitely the star. However we couldn't say the same for the food. Everything is just subpar food and the service was really bad. All orders had an issue and we were only 4 people. When they wanted to fix the orders the food took an extra 20 minutes. For a Hotel it seems it definitely needs more work. Coffee's were given to us as compensation for the error, but still think this is not enough to give it a better review. It would originally been a 1 Star.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 30, 2015
- Beautiful course, with beautiful views.
- Only visited the main clubhouse and lawns, but its a very nice place.
- Event I attended was well run...and the staff were amazing.
- All the grounds employees were impressively attentive.
Though I doubt I'll golf here ever, due to the greens fees and "exclusivity" of it being a Trump National Resort.
- Parking was easy and the had a shuttle from the outer parking grounds.
- The course is gorgeous with all ocean views.
- The restaurants and amenities are amazing.
Maybe someday I'll be there for something other than a glorified rich person car show, but for now I can dream!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Tim R.Seal Beach, CA04Jul 29, 2018
I've been hiking for years and years but just moved down near the coast for the past seven or eight years so I'm just learning all the trails in this area. This is a great hike. The trail is well maintained and it is a bit steep and loose in some spots but I've seen way worse. If you were proper hiking boots or perhaps even good running shoes you should be in better shape. People hiking in "flip flops" and such are asking for trouble;
Parking is free but I understand the Trump golf course would love to limit this but so far, they aren't able to; in California, it is a state law that the public but be given access to the coast so they have to provide a pathway of some sort to access the beauty that the golfers would also get. The hike we took was only about a mile round trip but it is a beautiful and it has a pretty serious set of hills to clime. My oldest son who is a computer genius was able to do it with minimal complaining and my eight year old easily ran up and down the entire path. Enjoy!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 98163210514Jun 17, 2012Updated review
This has to be one of the most expensive, well-constructed golf courses in the golf circuit: The 18th hole costed more than $1,000,000! Take a look how awesome the 18th hole appears!
I have visited this golf course since its breaking ground/pre-construction in 2002 until now, 2012-from dirt and gravel to perfectly coiffed landscaped grounds. The restaurant menu faire is exquisite as well now; however, in the beginning the restaurant wasn't completed, but years later, the restaurants boasts holding banquets and social events.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 26, 2008Previous reviewI suppose for those who love to play golf, I should add this URL:

The practicing putting green is very nice as well as the $1 million dollar #18 hole boasting a dramatic waterfall landscape. I took pics of this property with my Nokia 6260 cellphone. So, I hope you will appreciate this golf resort and recognize its gorgeous serenity it possesses. - Amy L.Garden Grove, CA329345232Oct 10, 2017
Took my parents on this easy and short hike on a Saturday around 10am and was surprised that there weren't that many people. The free public parking lot at the end of La Rotonda Dr is small but not very populated when we went; maybe we were lucky!
The trail is a little bit under 2 miles and little to no elevation. It's a perfect trail for a weekend stroll with my elderly parents, and we were able to enjoy beautiful ocean views the whole way. If you follow the paved trail, you will eventually end up at the clubhouse at the Trump National Golf Course. The grill and clubhouse is open to public so you can stop in and have a fancy breakfast if you'd like, or just step in to look around all the fancy stuff while enjoying some AC :P
I think it's a good way to spend a leisurely morning. My parents definitely enjoyed the view and didn't have backaches afterwards lol. I would recommend arriving at or before 9am as it was a bit hot around 10am when we went.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Brian G.Beverly Hills, CA11203Jul 15, 2021
This course is world class from the time you arrive to the time you leave. Got there, checked in, hit some balls, did some putting and away we went. The course is tough, expensive and worth every penny. If you want a challenge and you want to play on a professional golf course, this is your place. The pace of play is good, beautiful fairways, real greens and an ocean view from every hole. The golf was amazing and the staff was fantastic. Everyone I came in contact with was super kind, helpful and had a smile. This includes the bag, driving range, pro shop and grill attendants. This is a TRUE GOLF COURSE WITH AMAZING VIEWS AND INCREDIBLE SERVICE. We will be back soon!!!

Despite what your opinion may be on Trump, the trails are worth checking out here.
Free public parking down by the golf course. Lots of walking trails, mostly paved, some dirt and some get steep and strenuous.
Place is pretty empty for the most part which I like the most. Nice view of the ocean, never too hot since you're by it. You can take a stroll down to the tide pools as well. Not really any sandy areas, mostly rocks.
If you're looking for a good place to stroll or workout this place is highly recommended. Some of the paths coming up from the tide pools get pretty damn steep and kill your legs.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Diana Q.Los Angeles, CA2602930Sep 1, 2017
So here's a break down of one way you can visit these trails to get 1) beach access and 2) amazing views. Park at the end of La Rotonda Dr, it's completely free but be warned that the gates close a little after sunset. There will be a restroom there at the end of the lot and from there you follow the marked trail through the golf course until you make it to the edge of the cliffs. Do not enter the golf course because it is clearly marked as private property but even if you do, just make your way quietly back the main trail and you'll be fine. Once you make to the edge of the cliff, take in that ocean breeze and then decide left or right.
---
Go left past the posts and the warning signs and you'll shortly reach a trail to take you down to the beach below. The trail is a bit steep and most of the guiding posts have fallen but it's nothing that the average person can't handle with small steps and a good head on their shoulders. (On our last hike, we saw one lady running up and down this stretch multiple times so more power to you if you decide to run it!) I HIGHLY recommend doing this because the beach is full of rocks that make this beautiful sound when the waves crash upon them and that stretches for miles. Even though you can't lay on this beach because there are no patches of sand, it's super calming to walk the length of it with the sound of the ocean and no one next to you.
---
Go right and the trail will turn into paved asphalt, taking you slightly uphill toward the resort. Once you can almost see the resort, there should be a trail that banks left and goes through some shrubs and a mini, stagnant creek. Hop over the rocks and climb up to the lookout and you'll get an amazing, unparalleled view of the ocean. We got there just as the sun was coming out of the clouds and there were so many hues of blue/green, it felt tropical.

Overall, these trails are very easy to do with a huge payout. Highly recommend for a beautiful morning hike!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
