I went here on 06/07/13 with my teenage cousins who had never been to a place like this.
Wow. Not a good first impression. This place is stuffed to the gills with stuff but it is FILTHY. I've been through Chinatowns from D.C. to Honolulu so I'm used to a differing level of cleanliness for stores but this is by far the dirtiest shop I've been in.
Produce was visibly rotten. Jack fruit and coconuts were covered in blue-green mold. Fish in the seafood case had sunken-in, cloudy eyes and blood around the gills! There was dead fish in the tank. None of the freezers had lights on and all the frozen fish was improperly packaged as it looked as though all the shrink-wrapped packages had not been sealed.
They had one whole roasted pig on a spit but there was a fast food cup in the roaster box thing...???!!?!
The quality of perishables and the lack of cleanliness was inexcusable.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Paul T.Tulsa, OK442730Aug 17, 2013
I'm extremely thankful for the existence of Nam-Hai. Without it I'd be hankering for the food I grew up with abroad. Before finding this place, I was getting itchy feet [towards a larger city with more places like this]. Now I'm happy in Tulsa, as I can grab the ingredients for recipes that I have great memories of. Also, they have cool Asian trinkets, plants, exotic fruit you'll struggle to find elsewhere in Tulsa, and more.
It's not the cleanest Asian market I've been to, but the staff are friendly, it's always well-stocked, and the prices are competitive. Just wash your produce, like you should, before cooking and you'll be fine! ;)
I can't wait to see them in their new location across the intersection. It's a newer building and hopefully it will provide a little more space to move around in.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Oct 4, 2015
A huge Oriental Market. We just returned from a trip to China and were craving some of the veggies and fruits. We found everything our hearts desired at this market and spent a lot of time marveling at all the selection.
We were also able to purchase some sauces, noodles, and accompaniments we needed for some home cooking. The frozen food selection was good also although it was disorganized. We purchase dumplings and spring rolls from the freezer. We didn't need any meat, but they have a great selection.
Most Oriental Markets have that distinctive "smell" to them. This one is not too bad and was not at all offensive.
The store has a new address on 21st Street.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1111042377Nov 18, 2014
Pros: The new location is huge! Clean and smells way better.
Cons: fewer parking spaces that the old location. Minimum purchase required to use credit card.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Paul F.Tulsa, OK211Aug 14, 2011
This is one of the few Asian markets in Tulsa, and is my personal favorite. Compared to Asian markets in other cities, the prices of -some- goods may be a bit high, but Nam Hai is probably one of maybe three places in all of Tulsa that carries them. And the prices compared to buying Asian goods in a regular supermarket are remarkably lower. For example; the Japanese rice seasoning I buy is 2.49 or so at Nam-Hai, while the exact same item is five dollars at Wal-Mart.
The market has a great selection, the lady cashier is always friendly and polite, and no one follows you around to see if you're stealing! Highly recommended.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alayna D.Tulsa, OK24923934Jan 4, 2015
This store is huge!!! I have never been to their previous location, but I believe they moved, and this new location is gigantic and has a great variety.
They are indeed an international market and have very interesting groceries! We ended up getting some frozen dumplings and noodles. The dumplings were great and the noodle selection was huge. They have a lot of bulk items as well. There is also pre-prepared food and diverse cookware.
There is a large pho restaurant inside as well. We didn't try this, but it was packed at 3:00pm on a Sunday, so that is probably a good sign! I will definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anna F.Tulsa, OK582261097May 4, 2014
My husband and I like to come here to see what they offer. We found some tea and chopsticks sets that his mother would just love. (My mother in law is Japanese).
We always like to pick up Ramune or Japanese soda. I like to get some candy because they have the most interesting candy from all over Asia.
There is a wide selection of groceries and tea. There is also a large shopping area for kimonos, tea sets, and many other items.
The one thing we didn't care for was all the boxes at the back of the store. Also, some of the aisles were a bit cramped. Otherwise, it's a good place to go for a unique shopping experience.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Cornbread D.Tulsa, OK211036Oct 31, 2014

After living in Asia for the last 7 years, this is a haven to come back to in what can sometimes seem a homogeneous, cultural void in the Tulsa metropolitan area.
The fantastic thing about this grocery store is that it provides products from many countries in Asia, not just China or Vietnam. We have lived in Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Indonesia, and we are able to find various Asian products from these and many other countries.
We are able to find fresh fruits and other ingredients that just are not available anywhere in Tulsa.
I also appreciate the cultural experience in visiting this place. Many different types of people, languages, food products, vegetables, fish, and the smells to go along with them. It almost reminds me of fresh open markets in Asia.
It may not be Whole Foods or Food Pyramid, so if you are looking for the same experience you get at Food Pyramid or Wal-mart, then this is not for you. Go back home and seal yourself back in your bubble and watch Asian cooking on TV.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Racheal M.Tulsa, OK867917Feb 5, 2015
This store was very large and there was a great variety of things. I thought it was very well organized.
