Jam packed because its closing week, not a spot left in the parking lot and POOR service. What a let down! Yes, the staff is very nice but understaffed for the people coming to say so long to a legendary spot.
Ive spent many a st pattys here and today, the soup was barely warm but tasty, the corned beef came out on toasted bread and i never got my second irish coffee i requested..
I was with 3 friends and we all had different things the guys had Guinness my friend marian had the fried fish with a salad and I as you read had dry corned beef.
I know they are closing sunday but the service and quality of items were inexcusable.
I didnt expect the red carpet but i didnt expect astro turf either...thats about the way it was. looked great but fell way short.
Im not one to complain but it really was sad to see such a great spot not care because they are closing.
So long to the old days where you got great service and decent drinks and good food, That doesnt exist anymore and as I said they close the doors for good sunday. The old spot will be missed...It is a shame they had to go out with such a dull roar!Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Nov 20, 2014
We have plenty of Irish restaurants and pubs in the Broward Palm Beach area but as such, McGuire's Hill 16 stands out as being one of if not the best. This is especially true in light of their most recent renovations.
First off, it's large, has a lot of seating capacity but with a setup that even when crowded there is enough room to it that you are one on top of the other. It's also easily accessible with regards to parking, safe in part due to the fact that it seems to be a favorite hangout of the off duty (well, let's just say they are supposed to be off duty) local law enforcement agencies. The staff is friendly as are the patrons, the menu offerings wide ranging enough to suit most tastes, they even have vegetarian offerings, the prices reasonable and everything orderly and clean.
They serve up a great fish and chips, a bangers and mash, a Shepherds pie, good sandwiches of Irish dip roast beef or corned beef plus some decent burgers; all of which I've had over the years though my favorite dish happens to be their Irish Lamb Stew, which I've found to be extremely hearty, robust and full of flavor. As a start on that, I might also recommend their Caesar salad, certainly not an Irish dish (it actually has its roots of origination in Mexico), but done with their own in house dressings, one of the best in flavor with an entire coating of the romaine.
Though I've never attended any, they also have scheduled entertainment on most Friday and Saturday nights. Then for sports fans, McGuire's has plenty of the most up to date flat screens but arranged in such a way so as not to have interfered with the general décor, ambiance or to have turned the place into what to me would be just another boring Irish sports bar with an bunch of unruly loud at mouth fundamentally sports ignorant (like how can anyone cheer on team players in a three month old sports rerun broadcast?) not very athletic looking patrons.
As with every Irish restaurant or pub, St. Patrick's Day is there biggest day of the year. McGuire's is no exception, gets really crowded almost to the point of being overwhelmingly so with congested parking even though they do open a lot across Andrews Avenue. I've only attended one here, had their traditional corned beef but McGuire's being Irish as in real Ireland type of Irish only serves "red" corned beef and, since some of my dining companions are Boston Irish, have gone elsewhere as their preference is for "gray" (sometimes called Boston Irish or New York Style corned beef) which they claim to be less salty and softer. However, between the two and for the life of me, I'm really unable to discern much of a difference and have a preference for the more traditionally true Irish red, probably because I find looking a piece of gray in color boiled meat to be unappetizing in appearance.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Laurence S.Miami, FL0636Dec 6, 2016
There are time you are far from home or very close and you come into a place that just feel homy! This is what this place is ! So friendly, welcoming from day one.
There 4 angels I want to mention, Stéphanie that I met fisrt, and then erika and danielle.
And there is Janice!
I have been in around many great places, but this place is very special to my heart.
Food is great, bar, events and bands just fantastic.
Here you can meet people, just sit at the bar and the team will do what bartenders do rarely nowdays: make you feel comfortable, introduce you to people, and care!
What a great, great great place !
You want to be alone you can !
You want to feel home you can!
You want to socialize you can!
And with this Irish elegant way, nothing pushy, nothing phony, just fun, warmth and secure.
Thank you to the whole team! Real women! Love it !
They have a touch I tunes !

My visits to Maguire's Hill revolve around meeting up with past and present co-workers, who have claimed this place as their bar. We typically hang out in the back portion. It always feels like a reunion.
I like this place, too.
On my most recent visit, I ordered some food ... The Irish Dip. Similar in nature, it is, to the French Dip. Didn't notice an "Irish" twist to it, but it was tasty.
Stuck with Miller Lite. When in doubt, I'll drink Miller Lite, only because of my Milwaukee heritage. Lot's of family and friends still work at the brewery, and I feel I'm keeping them busy on the assembly lines ... Ya know, doing my part.
I'm sure I'll be back at some point. I'm told the menu is pretty solid, and the Irish Dip was pretty tasty.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kevin N.Sunnyvale, CA15937357Jun 9, 2008First to Review
When choosing an Irish Pub, you can go to a place wearing the clothes of the Irish: Guinness, posters of famous Irishmen, and a grumpy bartender with a MidWestern non-accent. Or, you can go to a place where the people are genuinely friendly and helpful. Hey, they may even be (imagine this) Irish!
Enter Maguire's Hill 16. I have not discovered a large Irish population in South Florida, but those that have made the trek to a place that has weather bearing as much resemblance to Ireland as Folger's crystals bear to a caffe in Il Campo come to Maguire's Hill 16.
I have yet to find bartenders as helpful and accommodating as barkeeps James and Willie. These guys know their stuff, but more importantly, they know their clientle, even late-night schlubs that come in from off the street approaching 1am in the morning. Hours of drinking later, and I had no idea where the time went.
Food served until midnight on the weekend, and 10 on weekdays. Come here, the little bit of Irish in your soul will feel right at home.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Adam X.San Francisco, CA3895222378Mar 11, 2010

I actually stopped in this pub while waiting for a local friend en route to the main strip of bars in downtown Fort. Lauderdale. This pub exceeded my expectations insomuch that it was very large on the interior and had quite a bit of seating on the exterior. There was sufficient parking all around the bar, and there were a couple of folks that assisted drivers in navigating their vehicles to the rear parking area, which was mainly unpaved gravel and grass.
I only stayed for a couple of draft beers, which I thought the hops were very good for the outside bar area. Although I noticed only a couple of bartenders at the time taking care of both the interior and exterior bar areas, it seemed as if they had things under control despite the growing Friday night crowd. Altogether, it was a fun time at this venue. It certainly served its purpose in being a warm up for the rest of the night in Fort Lauderdale.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amy S.Tamarac, FL3039994150Nov 19, 2016
Great place for friends, food and music.
This outing was to celebrate a friends birthday. As regulars (as opposed to some of my irregular friends), they were ready to grab large, open tables for our group. Don't be discouraged, there was still plenty of seating for everyone else. ;-)
Once seated it was time for a drink and some food. The servers get very busy so I needed to make a point to grab ours for a tough decision. Do I go with my favorite chicken pot pie... outstanding, or something healthier? The group was having burgers and salads so I went with the veggie burger (Morningstar) which was just right. As an Irish Pub, there are many choices left for me to try.
Albert Castiglia is a favorite of this groups and he started to play at 9 and didn't stop for over an hour and a half. He kept the party going.
After his set, it was time for the cake that was stored in the fridge for us... thanks, it was so yummy.
I have been here many times and always leave happy to have gone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 23, 2012
It's an Irish Pub. I can't really say it is any better or worse than other Irish pubs.
I ate the Irish Dip which is pretty much just a French Dip. It was good. And it didn't wreak havoc on my stomach. Amazing.
They also have shots called 'Baby Guinness'. They're delicious, have one.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
