We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and everyone is still raving about the food-- especially the lemoncillo cake and the fried dough strawberry shortcake! We also have mama's pasta whenever we come here and love it every time!
beware--- this atmosphere is great and everyone is always very nice, but this is not a quick in and out dinner! plan for at least 2 hours for dinner! i'm sure it's because everything is homemade and it's all a part of the "family dinner table" experience, but sometimes you just don't have that much time to spend on dinner! love everything else!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sarah V.Enfield, CT262524Feb 24, 2015
This place is AMAZING!!! Went here because Typical Sicilian had a long long wait, and boy I'm glad they did! Felix's Family Ristorante is where it's at!
The atmosphere was so cute, the servers (especially the older gentleman who was the host, oh god he's friggin' adorable lol) and my GOD THE FOOD!!! I ordered the special that was the Gnocchi and chicken in their own cream sauce...to die for. If I hadn't begun to fill up on the chipotle ranch calamari I would've probably finished the entree. Honestly I don't even remember what my Husband got because my face was concentrated on MY entree the entire time LOL.
Oh and they're BYOB! How awesome is that? We will definitely be back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - El Keter B.Springfield, MA1197239Aug 21, 2014Updated review
Yes, this is an update of an update!
Felix's is still one of the best restaurants in the city of homes.
And I still love their Buffalo Chicken pie.
But I recently figured out that it's even better if you swap Blue Cheese for the Ranch.
I also had the revelation that if you ask them for a "light bake" on the crust their pizza reaches whole new levels of perfection.
How about the deserts? Toasted almond cake! Gluten free fudge cake! Oh, lawd!
And did I mention they serve what just might be the best cheeseburger in the city?
I'm including the "gourmet burger bar" places in there too!
Yes, their cheeseburger is THAT good.
And it comes with fries!
My only ask is that they serve Mom's Chili year around.
I hate having to wait for it all year.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 30, 2010Previous reviewBoasting red sauce, ranch dressing and TONS of breaded chicken chunks sauteed in hot sauce, their Buffalo Chicken Pizza is hands down the BEST Buffalo Chicken pie I've ever had!
Aug 29, 2010Previous reviewI grew up eating pizza cooked in this building. For years, the restaurant on the corner of Dickinson and Oakland provided my family with pizza, grinders and other delightful dishes. I'm sure the place changed owners a few times over those decades. And there was a period of time during the last owner's tenure where I wouldn't eat here due to an incident that I won't elaborate on here.
The truth of the matter is that any feelings I may have had about the previous iterations of "Family Pizza" are irrelevant now though. This is due to the fact that they've been under new management for a hot minute now and are a completely different restaurant than any of the many I'd done business with at this location before. This, it turns out, is a really, REALLY good thing.
After eating there a few times recently I'm happy to report that the all new Felix's Family Ristorante may in fact be my favorite restaurant in the Forest Park neighborhood and it's DEFINITELY my favorite of the handful of Italian eateries in the city of Springfield. This is saying a lot because there's another nearby Italian spot that really impressed me with their fare, but for the quality, and the money, I'm now inclined to prefer Felix's Family Ristorante over them.
So far their appetizers, pasta, chicken, grinders and pizza have all been sampled and all have been solid-to-impressive in quality. Their hand-made fried mozzarella in marinara sauce is heavenly. Their pasta alfredo, paired with an order of their crispy, juicy chicken fingers for a makeshift chicken alfredo is pure gooey, cheesy, crunchy, poultry-y goodness. Their pizza is fluffy but hearty and loaded with melty cheese and fragrant toppings. And their cheeseburger sub -- which actually tastes like meat and is imbued with the smokey flavor of flame broiling or char-grilling -- and steak bomb sub -- loaded with tons of shaved steak and aromatic veggies, also smokily grilled -- are nothing short of the best subs I've ever eaten in my life!
As of yet I haven't enjoyed sit-down dinner service at the Family Ristorante, only take-out service from the window. But the people who work here are all incredibly friendly and really do help create a family atmosphere that makes you want to sit down and eat. Oh, and the last time I went in to place an order on a Friday night they had an amazing guitar/accordion duo walking around playing and singing Italian folk songs and standards in the dining room. These guys were awesome and, despite the crowd, made me wish I was eating in the dining room.
Whether you're feeding your family, or just your face, Felix's Family Ristorante is the place to do it in the Forest Park neighborhood. - Brian O.Hampden, MA4523Sep 7, 2014
Agree with other reviewers it is one of the best kept secret of Springfield.
Great homemade Italian fare with spot-on service. Do not miss the homemade or Mama's pasta. Everything is good. My in-laws are regulars here, and can say the same for many others.
This place is BYOB, so pack your favorite wine or beer, and they will be happy to open it and place it on ice for you.
Neighborhood is a tad dicey for those not familiar with Springfield, but it is safe enough enough I assure you and well worth it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Simone H.Winchester, MA275Oct 30, 2016
We were passing through town on way home and found this gem on Yelp. Food was out of this world! Baked manicotti and chicken parm were fabulous. Will be back.

We found it! When we moved to Springfield about 8 years ago the pizza place around the corner from us made great pizza. Sadly, the place changed hands about a year later and we have been looking for its equal ever since. Felix's is it. Their pizza is made with excellent ingredients, no rubbery mozzarella. It is browned and crispy on the bottom, neither too thick nor too thin.
Felix's has two dining rooms, the larger one is more formal, the smaller one is brightly lit with a TV showing sports. Choose according to your mood.
The wait-staff is genuine, friendly and attentive. Multiple generations of the owner-family have been present at each visit keeping an eye on things and making sure we felt welcome. (We did.)
Felix's encourages customers to bring their own beverages. This lets us bring our favorites and keeps the cost down.
Try it!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dawn H.West Springfield, MA07Dec 29, 2016
LOVED the old Felix's and was so excited to hear it reopened, until I ate there. Not even close to as good, in fact it was terrible. There were pieces of plastic in our appetizer and they wouldn't even take it off our bill. Mamas pasta was soggy and flavorless. Chicken parm was so over cooked I could barely cut it. 7 of us who used to love this place and not one of us enjoyed our meal. When the chef came out to ask about our experience we tried to be gentle but honest. She had a reason why we were wrong about all our opinions. Sadly, we will
Never be back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello we are are very sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us. However we do not have a lady chef who would come out like that and we are wondering if maybe you have us confused with somewhere else. If you would have told your waitress of any issues or displeasure we would do our best to rectify the situation. We would be more than happy if you would come and give us a try and we could offer you some kind of compensation. We hope to see you soon. Sincerely, Felix's Family Restaurante

As soon as my boyfriend and I walked in to this family owned restaurant it was like stepping from the ghetto to the Ritz. There was an Italian singer and the place was decorated beautifully. Not only do they make pizza, they offer it for delivery as well. Pizza is only one of their many options- I caught a glimpse of some of the en-trees they were bringing out and those looked just as delicious as the pizza.
The pizza was a bit cold when it arrived at our door 30 minutes after placing the order because the driver got lost. After sticking it in the oven to warm it up it was fantastic. The best pizza in Springfield. Fresh ingredients available minus their mushrooms which they said were canned. It doesn't get any better! :)
My pizza recommendations: Fresh basil, onions, fresh green peppers, and light red sauce. Yumyum!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - T B.Monson, MA08Jan 28, 2017

What a pleasant surprise...
I found Felix's via Yelp and was somewhat skeptical as I'd never heard of it.
There was a function taking place so the parking lot was full but we were able to park on the street.
My rating for this restaurant is set firmly in the mindset that I'm reviewing a small, family run Italian restaurant.
With that said, here are some of the things you won't find at Felix's:
1. Professional wait-staff - The folks at Felix's are friendly and the service is attentive. They don't have polished and scripted responses ready.
2. Alcohol - It's BYOB, so bring something with you.
3. Kid's menus - They'll make you pretty much anything you want for the kids (in kid-sized portions), but you won't find any of it on a neatly organized kid's menu.
What you will find is absolutely terrific & authentic Italian food in a charming atmosphere.
I had the veal marsala and the wife had the shrimp & risotto dish. Both of us cleared our plates. The homemade pasta was delicious as well. The kids had noodles and a personal pizza and neither had any complaints.
We finished the meal with espresso and a slice of their peanut butter pie.
I will definitely be visiting Felix's again as the quality of the food for the price was unbeatable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
