I will not be returning to this museum or recommending it to friends and family. Met a friend this afternoon for a play date and from the moment we walked in the woman at the register was rude. Telling my children to wait when they asked ME a question.
My 2 year old was playing in the construction room on the platform. Only plastic toys are allowed up there. Well there were already wooden toys up there before she started playing on it. The woman came in and told her no wooden toys allowed and proceeded to angrily and quite aggressively grab and throw all the toys in the room where they belong.
Later my other two daughters were in the art room playing with the shaving cream. They were being KIDS and some of it got on the floor. My 3 year old started tracking it out of the room and I immediately stoped her, cleaned her shoes and started wiping it up off of the floor. Same lady comes in and give me the dirtiest look and at this point I'm still trying to be polite and say sorry I'm cleaning it up. She just looked at me and didn't say a word. I said it again, louder, just so I could be sure she was intentionally ignoring me and she was.
My friends kids were playing with the glue on paper and shaking glitter on it. Again, same rude woman starts shaking the glitter off and saying, "I guess they don't know your supposed to shake it off".
Honestly it's a shame. There's next to nothing for kids to do in Gettysburg. But ill make the drive to Voila in Chambersburg where the owner treats customers and their children with respect. Some people just SHOULDN'T be working with children.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dan R.Harrisburg, PA1979984569Mar 10, 2018Updated review
We had a really great visit to the Explore & More Childrens Museum in Gettysburg recently. Admission was pretty low, something like $7.00 per kid and $5.00 per adult.
They do not have a AAA discount, but accept credit cards. Also of note: there isn't a private lot, but lots of on street parking.
There are about 9 separate rooms where kids can do any of the following activities:
1. The gift shop - which contains moderately priced kids toys and science experiments, toy trains, Abraham Lincoln hats & beards, silly putty, etc.
2. A magnetic block area where kids can make sculptures.
3. The "science area" ad I'm calling it. Which had a cool bubble machine, a toy train table, and some milk-coloring tie dye type activities.
4. A cool general store / house / kitchen area that the kids liked.
5. A little tent where the kids could camp or "cook" a kettle over the fire.
6. Upstairs there was a small alcove with Sparky the frog & salt & pepper, two little mice. You can't play with them, but it's fun for the kids to watch.
7.A glow in the dark room with a blacklight, this had some items (clothes, books, magnets, etc) that already lit up, but what was even cooler, Is when we went it all of our shoelaces light up.
8. A construction room with blocks and other building materials. It had an "accounting area" with some old school calculators and telephones, etc.
All in all a really fun trip for kids!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 29, 2017Previous reviewWe had a really great visit to the Explore & More Childrens Museum in Gettysburg recently. Admission was pretty low, something like $7.00 per kid and $5.00 per adult.

All in all a really fun trip for kids! - Mayra C.Gettysburg, PA2611Feb 24, 2019
I have loved Explore and More for 20 years! I went as a child (my handprint is still on the wall!) and always loved playing there and now I get the joy of taking my nieces and nephews t. They range in age, 1.5 -10 and all six of them love it just as much as I do. Sometimes I feel like my excitement is on par with theirs when going. We especially love the bubble machine and the craft room! We always have a lovely time and will most definitely go again and again!

I am local and have a 21 month old son and never visited this place because I thought he would be too young. This week I was watching my 27month old nephew and decided I would take the boys here to get out of the house.
It was great! BOTH boys had a great timeHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lottie Y.West McLean, VA29111610May 25, 2019
I have been to a number of children's museums with my kids and this one is relatively small compared to a lot of big city ones. However, this place is surprisingly good especially given the admission is only $7. The place feels nice and cozy (the museum is converted from an old house) and activities here are very engaging. The lady staff here is very nice also.

This place is absolutely adorable!! We live about 2.5 hours away and we have two children's play museums near us. Explore and more puts those to shame! My son had plenty to do for almost two hours and so did my husband and I. It's a nice break from the history of Gettysburg to get inside and play for a little while. We had tons of fun and would definitely come back here. It is for the younger kids, my son is 3.5 and had a blast. Maybe up to 5-6 would have a great time.

This was a perfect stop for our young kids, ages 6-2. We spent time at the battlefields in the morning and then played at this museum in the afternoon. Our kids loved playing dress up in the civil war era room.

Gettysburg is a wonderful historic town. That said its quite boring for the little ones in your life. This treasure of a place is just what our kids needed. Making bubbles big enough to be inside was just one of the highlights. The ladies that run it are so warm and welcoming. They make you feel like you're at a friends house and can play all day.

I absolutely adore this amazing place and the ladies that run the museum are the best; my 2 1/2 would stay there all day if he could.
The museum is in an old house, I'm guessing from the 1800's, with two floors of the most clever activity and play ideas. There is a whole room devoted to Civil War era kitchen play time; this part is my favorite. There are costumes, pretend food, cups, plates and a fireplace to "cook" food.
The only bad thing about the place is that when it fills up with people it can become a bit overwhelming but my son enjoys it and so do I. I highly recommend a visit to the Explore & More!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ken E.McSherrystown, PA541Mar 13, 2013
We had my daughter's birthday party here today. The owners were wonderful. They are very caring and make sure that kids have a fun place to play while being educational. My daughter and her friends had a great time. We will be back
