About the Business
Der Kuchen Laden was built on a passion for cooking and a love for sharing that passion with others. And since we've first opened our doors, we've built our reputation on helping the budding chef in everyone learn and grow. In April of 2009, Gourmet Magazine featured us for our eclectic collection of kitchenware and gadgets, and after just one visit we think you'll see why. As you wind your way through our expansive shop, you'll find room after room of whimsical tools, state-of-the-art gadgets, cookware, and kitchen accessories from brands you know and trust. Take your time and browse or chat with our friendly team and get product recommendations. With everything from wine glasses and cast iron cookware to coffee, tea, and cooking demonstrations, we have all the ingredients to inspire and encourage the little chef in all of us.

Wow this place is ... well, wow! Every piece of kitchen equipment seems to be here! Helpful staff so you can find specific items...or you could just wander. I was looking for a tea strainer and another employee made me aware of a local tea...I look forward to giving it a try. Young man at cashier could recommend a bakery since I was asking at an hour where some had already closed. With info and directions I found that bakery...,I really appreciated everyone's help. Great place!

A fun store that has just about anything kitchen related that you might want, from wine openers, to knives, to cookie cutters, to expensive casserole dishes . . . and everything in between. While not huge in space, it definitely has the numbers on varieties of items. Especially the afore mentioned cookie cutters. And not just your every day varieties. Let's just say they had a tooth cookie cutter. I had never seen one of those before. I know what you're saying. When would I ever need a tooth cookie cutter?! What you should be asking is, where do I go when I do need a tooth cookie cutter?
It's definitely a fun place to visit for those of us who are kitchen supply fans.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0Business owner information

We've got a pretty sweet selection, Ron, but our store is far from cookie-cutter, and we're glad you enjoyed exploring it and finding unique gadgets and supplies. You're right, if you're looking for a tooth cookie cutter, we have it. And when you need help finding something special, our staff would be happy to help. Thank you for your wonderful review.

When I first came across this place years ago I was overwhelmed due to the many rooms of cooking supplies and the layout and the fact that I wanted everything there! The cooking utensils and other kitchen gadgets are decently priced and the best part: they have sooo many purple items!
I'm a baker and they have an extensive baking section which I love and I have yet to leave this store empty handed. This occasion I stocked up on some cooking utensils and a knife but there is still a lot more things that I would love to buy... guess it will have to be on the next trip.
One thing I want to try is their coffee. It smells sooo good but I have always been too full when I go there and have no room for it but I hear many people complimenting it. The staff there is also really friendly and always willing to help.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Wanting everything in sight can be overwhelming, but it's a wonderful problem to have, and we're happy we fulfilled your baking supply dreams with our selection. We appreciate you, and we can't wait for you to try our coffee next time you visit. We'll be all smiles.

This is the coolest little hidden gem ever! They look so "normal" from the outside but the inside is a treasure trove of never ending nooks and crannies that will delight a kitchen enthusiast for hours.. You should probably clear a good part of your schedule for this place! I went back three times on one day because I could not get enough.
They have knives with knowledgeable sales staff , pots, pans, dishes, bowls, paella pans etc. etc. etc.
The stuff they have is very unusual and I learned so much by walking around. I found some of the stuff rather pricy and a quick check on Amazon proved me correct but then I think you are paying for the experience. If money is no object, this gem is worth supporting because it is so much part of the history and fabric of Fredericksburg.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

If you're looking for the buried treasure of the cooking world, look no further, Fay. We're happy we could delight you with kitchen gadgets galore and entertain you for hours. We do have specials pretty often if the cost is not on point for you, but we think our products are more than worth the price. We appreciate your support, and next time you want to stop by this Fredericksburg gem, we'd be happy to have you.
Take care,

This place is HUGE!!! I literally got lost! When I entered the small storefront I didn't realize the space was so deep and wrapped all the way through a series of hallways, and what seemed like a never ending slew of small rooms with different items in them, into the space next door too! Impressive.
And they really do have EVERYTHING cooking and kitchen here...ironically except the sink. If it weren't for my waiting hubby, I could have easily spent hours in Der Kuchen Laden. Despite being on Main Street their prices are comparable to other stores. They offer a lot of very high quality items.
Oh, and during my journey through the land of the lost I discovered a coffee and pastry shop in back and wine tasting and beer garten on the side! OMG chefy foodie heaven!!!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 4999127015898Feb 14, 2016
This is the coolest little store ever! They look so tiny on the outside but it is really big inside and never seems to end. You should probably clear a good part of your schedule for this place! We were initially going to go in for 5 minutes but ended up staying for 30 minutes or so instead - no regrets!
They have mugs, coffee makers, knives, pots, pans, dishes, bowls, wine glasses, aprons phew* ... so much stuff that I can't even list them all off. The stuff they have is very interesting yet many of the things are things you need but have not even realized until you saw them in this store!!
We ended up finding mugs with Renoir paintings on them for the outside design, a really really really nice steak knife, an espresso/coffee maker called the Aeropress (that we were going to buy on Amazon), a really nice scooper for coffee grinds and a little measuring cup. If we had more money and time we would have probably ended up buying a lot more stuff than we did. This place is like the Daiso of Fredericksburg! I can't wait to come back here with my friends and family!!! *even the employees are awesome!!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 10743651231Mar 1, 2016
I would travel to Fredricksburg just for Der Kuchen Laden, the Disneyworld of kitchen stores.
Not only do they carry the basics and a lot of nice higher end kitchen items, and they also carry a LOT of small specialty items, including those you didn't know you needed! Here, I can buy the long-handled coffee scoop I cannot find anywhere else. For $3.
They have an excellent selection for the items they stock. Did you know sieves came in that many sizes?? They pack SO many different items into a small space! And those who work here are very knowledgable about the items they sell and will help you find exactly what you are looking for.
They sell tea and coffee in bulk too, and there's also a coffee shop inside with reasonable prices (especially for Fredricksburg). Ask for samples of the coffee of the day.
Don't miss it!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Dec 6, 2015
If you cook, or know someone who cooks, you must visit. They have so much, including things you didn't know you even needed!
The workers are friendly and polite; and knowledgeable about products, inventory, and customer service.
I just love this place...and we visit it every time we visit Fredericksburg.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Haley B.Whitney, TX0546Jul 14, 2020
The coolest kitchen store! Very unique since the building was formerly a hospital. They have just about any cooking item you can think of and a coffee shop as well!

Haley, I'm so happy to hear you consider us the coolest store! Between our history as a hospital, our delicious coffee shop, and our wide selection of kitchen items, Der Kuchen Laden is as unique as it gets! Hope you'll come back to shop with us again soon.
Best,
