I've been getting a lot of ads for "private screenings" at Cinemark. For fun, I clicked on the ad and realized I could book one of these theaters for a current screened movie for CHEAP! (Prices currently are $75-$175 depending on the movie, day/time)

Perfect, my husband never had a birthday celebrating (due to Covid) and has been wanting to see Tenent and missing movie theater popcorn. I booked it on a Saturday at 3pm, invited 14 of our friends (max you can have is 20). For that day, time and movie, cost after taxes was $167.

We got to the movie theater, which was empty, and ordered popcorn, snacks, icees etc and made our way to the private screening. Along the way there were plenty of spots to get hand sanitizer, wipes, etc.

The lounging seats were really nice, the theater was small but we had lots of space to social distance.

It was really fun to have our own theater. We could talk across rows and not worry about other people.

If they continue offering private screenings at these prices, I will easily do one again around the holidays. The theater was clean, employees were nice and prices were very affordable. Plus, it felt almost normal during these crazy times.

A few times I had friends mentioned how this used to be a dollar theater when they had been there (years before) but obviously that's not the case any more. They invested time and money turning this into a regular theater (small viewings) and it really shows.

I come here often. Who doesn't enjoy a cheap priced movie night out?! The seats might not be the most comfortable but you can't beat the price. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The snacks are fresh and expensive just like any other theater. My family enjoys coming here and we will continue to come here for our not so new movies.

      Let's go to the movies!

But who doesn't love it here!! OMG a family childhood memories. Even when I don't have enough for an outing this place is always affordable to take the kids somewhere to get out the house. I remember going as a kid in middle school.
Nothing but good memories here and a great time here for very reasonable price.

Cinemark Movies 16 was a quality experience. In fact, it was a much better experience than I thought it would be. Based on some of the reviews I read, I thought I was heading into a "get what you pay for $2 movie theater". I can with all happiness say, I was 100% wrong. This theater was pretty darn good.

Theater Presentation: The theater was very nice inside for what you were paying for. You pay for the movie inside of the theater which defeats the purpose of having a payment kiosk outside. Inside. There was an arcade too. The seating was super wide open and because most of these movies are no longer in theaters, everyone has already seen it so... less viewers, more good seats. That's the ultimate win! My only frustration is that there is only one restroom in the entire theater. That's a long run after a large soda :)

Customer Service: they are squared away!!! Very kind staff. Management listens to your concerns and takes care of you. My son lost his 3D glasses on his way in and they gave me another pair without question. The team communicates loudly behind the counter. If someone messes up your order, they'll make it right by you. Lastly and my favorite, if there is an order on the menu that is cheaper than what you wanted but still gives you everything you asked for, they'll take care of you to save you money!!

Prices: Look guys. This movie ain't in "big theaters" anymore. The price is perfect. Not high; tickets or food. Large popcorn or drinks are refillable.

Def will be back in weekly. Permanent customer!!!

Got more time than money? Ever wanna see a movie even though you know it's supposed to be really bad?

This is your spot. Second run movies for $1.50. That's right, that's what I thought too when I discovered this place! Awesome!

But here's why the place is a full-on Five Star Joint:

The theater is a relic from the 80s. It is *now* what those grand old 1940s theaters were like in the 1970s (Xanadu, anyone?). It's kind of dilapidated, and if you quiet yourself for a moment, you can almost hear the ghosts of movie nights from weekends at the mall long ago. The disposable heartthrobs and vixens of the Reagan era haunt these dimly lit halls and aisles in vague forgotten fame.

Like any good charming, outdated shell of dead action, the owners of this business only run as many lights as necessary, only hire apathetic misfits to sell the popcorn to you and then sweep it up after you've gone, and only clean the sticky stuff off the floor once a year (and, judging, that must be coming up pretty soon).

What do you want for $1.50?

Avoid 10,000 b.c. at all costs. You've been warned.

This review is for my movie experience. I didn't get concessions.

I went to see Fury on 10JAN15. I like that they offer Fandango, kiosk and ticket counter purchasing. I didn't get my tickets till I arrived and it took about 5 mins. The theater was smaller than normal, but I'm sure that's because the movie is practically on blu-ray now. The screen is super clear and sound was great. The seat cushions are not cloth, which is good for me because at least I'm not sitting in super filth. There is also a game room right when you walk in.

Pros are obviously the price and I like that they didn't skimp on the quality of movie viewing. However, there is no stadium seating, so tall people might get in the way and the seat back don't provide head support.

I do wish they had more bathrooms in the facility. There is only one located in the lobby and that's a bit of an inconvenience. Especially because there place is pretty popular on the weekends it seems. I didn't go into the bathrooms, but my fiancé did and she did mentioned they could be tended to a bit better and didn't have anything to dry hands with.

This is definitely a gem in San Antonio. For the price you pay it's worth checking out. I went on a Thursday and it wasn't too packed, service was prompt and the seats weren't bad. I noticed after the movie was over they had their staff sweeping/cleaning the theater and they wished us a good rest of the day. I really appreciate small things like that, I'll definitely be back.

I love the big screens, large, clean seats and how they play Dolby Surround Sound with their movies . Their snacks are reasonably priced and the popcorn is evenly buttered and salted. I recently went here with my son to see Spider-Man Far from Home. We truly enjoyed ourselves.

      First to Review

Okay so I used to go to this place long before it became the place it is now... and by that I mean, for a buck it was ok. Yeah, it ran the first run summer movies of '93 in the winter of '94... and yeah you got to run into a little bit of the ghettoness of San Antonio... and yeah the seats were so run down that you'd practically fall through and just end up sitting on the wet, sticky floor but hey! A movie was a movie and it was where everyone could get together and not have to worry about ruining any college budgets at the time.

OK... so NOW... what's changed? It's a buck-fitty now. Other than that, not much else. Unless you count the fact that you can practically smell piss in the air when you walk in... that and the fact that I'm deathly afraid of touching anything in this place because I swear I'd get some highly infectious disease and die a slow, painful death all for the sake of catching "Meet the Robinsons". Let's see... is there anything else? Mmmmm... no... I think that about sums it up.
