I'll echo what my fellow Yelpers have said: this place kind of sucks. It's dirty and dusty, selling really old, crappy "souvenirs" that look like they were buried in a late 1980s time capsule. That may sound cool, but it's not. It's sad.

The reason to go here is just for the exterior and the photo opportunities afforded. The gift shop is located on the corner of the plaza in the town's old courthouse building. Be sure to read the historical info, it's pretty rad. Too bad the offerings for sale are not.

Oh, and I did NOT try the coffee after reading these other reviews. I will say it looked pretty bad.

This place is right on the plaza in Mesilla, so they have a great location. BUT, we stopped in on a Thursday noon and saw the coffee roaster, but there was no coffee available. Ice cream, yes, coffee no---not to drink, and no beans to buy.
It would seem that if you invest in a coffee roaster for what---$5K-20K?---that you would actually offer coffees on sale, maybe some local blends with local names (Mesquite, Cactus, Organ Mountain). Nothing doing here, and the poor salesgirl didn't have any information on when some might be available. Pity.
The store does have quite a variety of kitschy stuff---license plates, mugs, shot glasses, post cards, pocket knives, etc., with Billy the Kid, New Mexico, and Mesilla themes. Walk through, buy a trinket or two to keep the place going.
Go to The Bean or, preferably, Picacho Roasters (the best around).

Fun, entertaining and tightly packed yet huge souvenir shop. This is a great place for souvenir shop aficionados and anyone to indulge in both lighthearted, whimsical and just plain odds and ends! This is a really cool place Shop!

Lots of touristy souvenirs / Billy the Kid central.

The building once housed the courthouse where Billy the Kid was sentenced to hang - listed on the National Register. It's now a souvenir shop that also serves coffee and I think ice cream too. I liked the Billy the Kid fortune teller. Packed with touristy tchotchkeys (which I am a fan of unlike the person in the other review) and postcards, but didn't try the food or drinks as we ate already at the Double Eagle. Since the area is famous for it's Billy the Kid association - it's good that they have Billy the Kid/Old Mesilla souvenirs you can buy there.

The Gift Shop was once the Capitol building of both Arizona and New Mexico and later the Court House that sentenced Billy The Kid to hang. Today it is one of three interconnected tourist shops offering gifts and food. The prices I saw seem quite reasonable - and I found (and bought) something I'd not seen or found anywhere else (yet). Worth walking in even if you don't (plan to) walk out with more in your hand.

If you're looking for the rudest owner imaginable, look here. The old man behind the coffee counter was unpleasant not only to me but to his employee as well. The place is dirty, dusty, and all around filthy and the coffee is mediocre at best. I would recommend this place only if every other establishment in Mesilla had burned to the ground. I would give 0 stars if I could

Was told milk does not come with espresso... Girl was snotty about ..... Refused to even tell me what the charge was for a tablespoon of milk.... Never will I set foot back in this place.... BTW. I am a local...
