On my way to work decided to stop by for some lunch.
Reading the reviews I figured that the eggs benny was the way to go. It was a bit too salty for my liking, but i guess because I was in Korea for 3 years almost everything seems to be... the eggs benedict comes with a side of fruit, i thought it was umm... unique? That they gave lemons. Anyway the restaurant itself is very casual and clean. It has a cozy vibe. The staff were somewhat friendly, didnt seem to care a whole lot... Overall I would it wasn't GREAT, but it was nice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sarah S.Minneapolis, MN15116289Nov 22, 2015
I recently met a former colleague here for lunch knowing I had wanted to try this spot for a long time. Of course, I didn't come with a huge appetite and thought I would be missing out by ordering a salad and cup of soup. I got the small Greens Salad and a cup of the Lentil and Ham soup. Ordering and serving was quick even with a good size crowd and service was friendly.
I was absolutely wrong about thinking this was just soup and salad. The Greens salad was a beautiful mix of greens with ample herb-age, shaved fennel and a citrus fennel vinaigrette. Sounds simple but was the most satisfying and fresh salad I have had in awhile. Immediately regretted not getting the full size even though I had plenty in front of me. The lentil soup was a perfect finish and came with a soft, delicious piece of bread for dipping.
I proudly went back the next day to get the full size salad. Amazing! My only complaint would be the price. It is definitely worth it but not something I want to do everyday.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Wil G.St Paul, MN57166198Jun 9, 2017
I've been a fan of Be'Wiched since I worked in the Warehouse District back in 2007-2010. I've been a huge fan of their pastrami sandwich with slaw for ages. You have to try their coleslaw! Whenever I get a chance to be in this area again I stop in for a sandwich. I'll keep coming in as long as they are here.
Oh, they have cookies too! Don't forget to check those out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 8, 2015
If sandwiches were a food group, it'd probably be my favorite one. I know it's a simple concept and generally utilitarian, but sometimes it's hard to improve upon the basics. With that said, Be'wiched knows how to serve up some tasty things between a couple slices of bread.
Many have already commented on the pastrami and I can only add on to the praise bestowed upon it. Although, somewhat surprisingly, their veggie burger (made up of primarily beets and mushrooms) is arguably my favorite item on the menu thus far. They also serve up brunch on the weekends, which has been enjoyable, save for the occasional overcooked egg.
Overall, Be'wiched could be a paints-by-the-numbers concept, but solid ingredients and a comfortable setting elevate it beyond that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - sarah p.Washington, DC1076545800Oct 16, 2008
The North Loop is just plain special on a Saturday afternoon. When you add 70 degrees and sunny during mid October, everything is more special.
Brought husband there for his first visit. We ordered an Italian and a Roast Beef. I had the the soup of the day as well. Vegetarian Chili, it was. Quite nice as well. Lots of depth. Our sandwiches were very good as well. It's obvious that they source high-quality ingredients, and my roast beef was no exception. Rare, tender and thinly sliced. The bread, which I don't know if it's made on premises, if really very delicious.
I like the fact they offer wine and beer as well. Apparently, they do take out and cater as well. I'd think this would go over very well for an office lunch meeting.
My only complaint is that there was a balance issue. I had to even out the meat, veggies and cheese so it wasn't all thickly clumped in the middle of the sandwich. It really pisses me off when people can't get that right, so Im taking one star off for that. When I go again, if the problem is solved, I'll be sure to update my review.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Amanda W.Minneapolis, MN16612863Mar 17, 2012
Visiting Be'wiched was definitely a quest for me. I work in the area, but for some reason, every time I tried to go there for lunch, my plan was foiled. It was weird. One time, a coworker and I walked over to it, and we seriously couldn't find it. The sign must have been down, or I'm just really dumb. Probably the latter.
But-last week, I finally made it! And man, am I glad.
It's an adorably bright interior, and the soups that they make give it an awesome smell. Speaking of the soups, I suggest you follow their Twitter...they tweet their daily versions, and they sound seriously bananas. Today, I just checked... Surly-bacon broth with mushrooms and potatoes??Um..yes please.
When I came, I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich-holyomigod. Chewy ciabatta, crisp bacon, juicy turkey, sweet and funky medjool dates, and an insane portion of goat cheese. I am already going through withdrawals.
In addition to the HUGE sandwich, they also give you two small samples of their salads. I had the one with Israeli couscous, and something else with olives? Not amazing, but it was nice to have. One of my friends got the ahi tuna sandwich, and it looked amazing, as did the poached chicken sandwich, and my other friend's pulled pork, which came with a big scoop of potato salad.
I know I'll be back many times...so lucky to work within walking distance of this gem.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Evik J.Minneapolis, MN705566Jul 12, 2013
Be'Wiched Deli is located close to my work, so I've had the opportunity to visit frequently for lunch. The staff is always friendly and very quick. They seem to understand that time is limited and want to get you seated, fed, and back to work without haste. I appreciate that.
Hands down, they serve the most wonderful pastrami sandwich known to man. It's $9 but it's worth every penny. For $13.50, they will serve it New York style, which means they double the amount of pastrami. Wow! I can do some damage to a meal, but that much food is beyond what a person should eat in a single sitting.
Other items on the menu are almost just as delicious. The only negative thing about their food is the exceedingly small side items. Seriously, most of the sides are just a tablespoon or so. They are tasty, but small.
Be'Wiched Deli is the best lunch deli in North Loop.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 25, 2013
I love sandwiches, so Be'Wiched was on the top of my list for places to try after just moving to the North Loop.
I stopped in last Saturday around 2pm for a late lunch. There were a few people working, but it wasn't too crowded since it was an off-time.
My mom and I decided to split the pastrami sandwich and spinach salad. The large spinach salad was a great deal for $6. It included spinach, candied pecans, brie, and 2 small pieces of delicious focaccia bread. My only complaint was it was slightly overdressed, but I like very little dressing and I should have asked for it on the side.
As others have said, the pastrami sandwich was very good. In my opinion, the spicy mustard made the sandwich.
Can't wait to go for Happy Hour and try the cured meats with a glass of wine. I will be back soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nick M.Milwaukee, WI93469452Mar 6, 2012
Mmmm, gourmet sammiches. Stopped by for the first time in large part to the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Deeeee-lish. I had the smoked turkey, which had plentiful meat and some nice auxiliary elements with the dates and goat cheese. Goat cheese should be on sandwiches more often. The bacon wasn't very prominent, but I'll take it. The bread was spot-on, very crispy and formidable when you want it but also soft and tasty. The sandwich came with two small sides, the contents of which I could not totally identify, but they were a reasonably good compliment and it's nice to have a little extra to nibble on if you're paying $9 for a sandwich. I also had a cup of the minestrone soup, and that was very hearty and good as well (the piece of bread that came with it was a nice touch).
At first I was taken aback at the prices here but it turns out the sandwiches are quite robust and filling. I can certainly see the half-sandwich+soup combo being plenty to eat, or just the sandwich on its own. I was half-expecting wait service here for some reason, but I was just fine with the setup, where you order, grab your number and wait a little bit for someone to bring your food on nice big plates. The place has a lot of seating, and while the decor is nothing amazing, it's a comfortable place.
The quality of the food is really worth a couple extra bucks. I'm a bit of a sandwich-fiend and I'm always lookin' out for a new gem. This place has it going right, and I now plan to return to try some of the other varieties.
Note: Their website is very helpful and the pictures are pretty much exactly what you get, except the sandwiches are bigger than they appear (and more filling).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jessica L.Chicago, IL32258289Dec 13, 2012
Décor: There's ample seating situated around the main kitchen area. I love the quiet, intimate-ish yet casual atmosphere of this place. Also, love the wood finishes they chose- classy.
Service: The crazy thing is that as nice as the place looks, it's really just a sandwich menu. Order up at the front and they'll bring you your food.
Food: They have a good-sized sandwich menu. I ended up with the Ham sandwich and it was a very well-done sandwich. Whoever thought up this sandwich was into subtle flavors that work together (Brie and apple mustard). It's simple, and that's why I think it's so great. The side zucchini salad I got was also pretty yummy, as it added in some moisture to my meal when I was eating it.
The only thing I disliked was that it was more expensive than I would have liked for a sandwich. The portion was just average (not to say I wasn't full), but for ~$10, I expected more.
Overall: I was between a 3 and a 4 star, but because I liked the interior, I gave it a 4 instead.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
