From the 'burbs and want to "explore" NE? Well, this spot might be just for you. There's nothing to really say about it other than it's a solid bar with ok food and TVs in case your bracket is doin gwell and you are with a bunch of people who couldn't care less.

The food is ok, nothing to write home about, but it's solid bar food none the less.

I seem to be ending p here regularly but with no desire to do so. I'd rather be pub crawling around other joints in the hood, but my pack seems to be intimidated by the idea of me being tour guide for a night.

That must end soon.

Whiteys--ahhh, what can I say, your a bar/restaurant after my own heart. Loads of appetizers and sandwiches and a good bar to boot. Ate lunch there today, and it's quite a popular spot for the noon time meal. And I can see why. A table mate and myself had the turkey burger, which was very good. The other companion had the tuna melt, which look deelish. The fries were my style--not thick and potatoey, but since have a sodium love affair, I could have used them a little saltier. Service was efficient and friendly, and you can sit outside on nice days (which it wasn't today).

This place has all the fixins of a great bar, and, as my mate observed, looks like it saw a lot of love before the smoking ban since everything has that nicotine soaked look to it. But it only lends to the character of the place.

A new wind's blowing for the Minnesota Twins... and, no, not from the trash incinerator next to Target Field.

We're turning a page in Twins history with the opening of an outdoor stadium. And, most importantly, we've started spending the kind of cash needed to elevate the Twins from a top-notch, small ball team into a perennial contender. Still crazy to think they dropped 184 million on Mauer. Definitely deserved, but this wouldn't have happened under the Teflon Sky.

Only a couple more weeks till the big day. If anyone's got a ticket....

You know you're in an "earthy" spot when the girl outside looks like she belongs at a jam band concert. The real kicker is that she was also barefoot and it was maybe 40 degrees.

There's a system of writing down your order and then submitting it an paying -- the whole process is written out on the front of the menu, so be sure to take a glance.

I had the huevos rancheros (1/2 order) and a pot of green tea. It was 8 bucks with about a dollar tip. Holy crap...it was a ton of food. It was good, nothing to write home (or yelp!) about, but I can see how it's a special spot for a certain group of people. I'd like to check back in the summer when everything is super fresh and I could sit outside. I'd probably enjoy it more and I tend to feel "bohemian" whenever it's warm outside.

Sometimes the server makes the meal. He certainly did tonight. I only wish I could remember his name. He graciously went over in educated detail his favorites. We ended up choosing 2 antipasti, a mushroom risotto for myself and a short rib for the SO. Everything was wonderful, but as loversof the original Cucina, we both commented on how we thought the menu and meal was more sophisticated at Cucina.

After my meal, what would I recommend? The yellowfin appetizer was delish, but I bet it's even better in the summer when melon is fresh. I loved my risotto. 1/2 order was sufficient when ordered with an app. SO's short rib was delightful, bu tas I was in the mood for grains, I preferred my mushroom dish.

Again, our service was impeccable. Thank you to whomever you are.

This review is for the bar only!!!

Came here for a HH drink tonight. Lovely. There was a jazz band playing downstairs and the music flowed up well...not overbearing but all while maintaining the acoustic integrity.

Are you a bubbly lover? Then come to this HH. Lots of fun champagne drinks for 5 bucks. YUM. I have the Rhubarb champagne drink and the rhubarb was very subtle, but still delicious. The stark white atmosphere made me think of a winter wonderland on this chilly rainy day. I'll definitely go back for a drink and would even entertain having a post-business meeting here.

I can't wait to try the restaurant out. Oh, and our service was great.

Dear "I Like You",

I still love you. You're there whenever I need a gift, whenever I'm feeling blue, whenever I need a little love in my life.

Thanks for being there.

My friend bought a t-shirt there that reads: Local Is Beautiful.

Beautiful indeed. And that's what makes I Like You gorgeous.

I'm already giddy about my holiday shopping.

Oh, their (newish) NE location is much better than their old one, and the astro-grass flooring rocks.

As Julie K said, Locavore shopping...and at its best! If you were at Craftsmas or Craft-o-rama, you'll recognize many of the local designers/artists I Like You carries. Great place to buy a unique gift, but probably more for your friend or sister than your mother (unless she's quite the crafty hopster). They carry Adam Tuman as well!

Please note: they are only open at this location till the 23rd of December. They are then going to be opening up in Northeast -- but not till April!

On these rare early Spring, 60 degree days it's hard to find anything wrong anywhere. Everyone's beaming and warm, happy energy engulfs the City. It's the type of day that everyone rationalizes our living here in the winters.

And there's no better way to celebrate spring than with a walk around the Lakes. While I love all three, Isles, for me is the daydream lake where you can "house hunt" and play "what if" and "someday". Stop by Isles Coffee for a cap and a puppy dog tail and enjoy it on a bench around the lake.

Uh, wait -- am I in Bangkok? Nope, I'm in Denver...but you'd never know that from the taste. Be prepared to wait in line... but do it. Just muster up all the patience you've got and wait. It's worth it. So worth it.

If I lived here, I'd go as often as I could.

Today was one of those Sundays when everything that happened was happy, sunny -- almost chirpy. My day started with Brunch Club at Barbette. I'd never eaten there for brunch before, and the poached egg frissee salad with lardons was the perfect way to start what felt like the first day of Spring. Light, tasty, crisp, and flavorful. The perfect beginning to the first gorgeous Sunday of 2010.

I was looking for some baby travel gear and Toys R Us wasn't working out so I skipped across the highway to USA Baby. Not impressed. Seems to be alot more like USA Baby Furniture than anything else. Not that I'd know, since as soon as I walked in the store and asked if they had what I was looking for, the two people who remained behind their respective counters and looked at me as though I were interrupting their very important conversation, curtly told me NO and then waited for me to leave.

Now, today, I heard they are having a 70% off sale on Friday and if I were preggers, I'm sure I'd forget the whole bad experience and take a browse, cause 70% ain't anything to scoff at. I'm secretly wondering if it's a Store Closing sale. Wouldn't surprise me seeing as their sales people don't really make an effort to connect with the customer.

My love for Turtle Bread is waning. The last few times, it's really just been OK. Today my quiche lorraine was cold inside still and a little bland. The bread was good, though. S.O.'s chicken chilli wasn't the normally tasty soup either. In fact, he said he has better at Whole Foods.

I don't know if it's because all the energy is going to Tosca or what, but TB hasn't been the same in a while. Come on, guys, impress me soon or I won't have reason to make it my summer Sunday morning spot!

I love myself a good grilled cheese. Especially when paired with a cup of tomato soup. Unfortunately, TB didn't make me happy with theirs. They add either Parmesan or asiago to it and it's just way way way too strong. Overpowered the entire sammy. Didn't even finish it. Sad lady I was. The only thing that made it slightly ok was the soup. Damn, they've got good soup.

Have  the other Turtle Breads have suddenly offered an expanded menu under the name of Tosca? Might have to do some investigating.

Basically, TB now offers a larger breakfast and lunch menu, including daily special. They kept the original menu as well. I've had their grilled vegetable and goat cheese sandwich a couple of times now, and i've been happy each time. the chicken sandwich also has been applauded as well, although I have yet to have a bite. Their soup kicks ass, as always.

It can get packed in here during Sat and Sun, but if you have some patience, it's worth the wait.

This great coffee shop/bakery allows us to kill two birds with one stone on weekend mornings: our dog gets a good walk and we get necessary sustenance.  I go for the fresh squeezed juices and their quiche of the day, and my husband grabs a latte and a decadent pastry. When the weather is nice, they offer outside seating where you can watch the never ending flow of strollers.

In addition to breakfast, they have a nice array of sandwiches and other goodies that make for a great impromptu picnic down at Calhoun. I'm also a big fan of their soups...especially the carrot curry.

My favorite find here, though, is a real time saver. If you like to cook, but making homemade stock isn't your thing, you can pick up fresh, homemade chicken stock in the fridge here. Life saver.
