WOW is what comes to mind. Overwhelming size and amount of vehicles was crazy. Also got to see some Porsche groups running in the wet which was on another level. The track setting with hills and off camber turns going downhill looks like it would an awesome track to run on.

Not really a racing fan but happened upon the museum for a work event.
The museum is interesting even if you don't like cars!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 17, 2023
As soon as you step into the doors you can tell this is going to a great museum if you are a fan of motorcycles and history. I do have a passing interest and was impressed by the size and how well it was put together.
There are over five floors of exhibits, primarily of motorcycles but you will see a few cars and also a large collections of outboard motors. Give yourself 2-3 hours to take in the beauty of the restored bikes and reading the details. Most are in perfect shape!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rick S.TN, TN012322Mar 17, 2023
I didn't think I would like going to a motorcycle museum but I was throughly happy I went.
I thought it would be like so many other motorcycle displays and you just see a hundred or so modified Harley's.
Well the place is huge and while they may have a bunch of Harleys that's not all the have. They tell a story of the history of motorcycles in their 5 story building. If you look at each display you can see the evolution of the brand.
As great as all this is there's the outside walkway over the racetrack. It meanders by a creek and waterfall. It is a beautiful addition to the visit.
I highly recommend this stop if you are anywhere near the Birmingham area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 22, 2022
This place is amazing, amazing, amazing. It is a must visit for any motorcycle or car enthusiasts. This place is huge and has a decent sized parking lot, with free parking. It is very clean and organized. I am so glad that I was able to make it here and check this place out. It has over 1,600 vintage/modern motorcycles and racing cars and is considered the largest motorcycle museum in the world. Fun Fact: 99% of all motorcycles in the museum can be operational within an hour.
This 250,000-square-foot, five-story museum is packed with motorsports. It fits 10 pounds in a 5-pound bag. The bottom floor is only accesible during VIP tours. I do not think I missed much and had way more than I could imagine and sort through on the floors that were available to me. They have scooters, bicycles, indy cars, boat engines, dirt bikes, classic cars, motorcycles, powered bikes. They have a small 74-seat theater near the back that they play a short video about the museum and track. Some notable things that I like seeing were the police motorcycles, the speed of some of the motorcycles on their information cards, the Lotus collection and the fiberglass prototype of cars. The bikes and cars are in such great shape.
The staff there is very friendly and helpful. The have a small vending area with tables to eat at and a small gift shop that sells magnets, shirts, hats and figurines.
A cool feature of this museum is that they have a pedestrian bridge that is connected to it the walks out over the track with active cars practicing. The center of the bridge has a 1-inch tempered glass bottom that you can watch race cars pass under. There is another pedestrian bridge beyond the the the first one that goes over another section of the track. There is also a small, hilly paved path that goes along the track's small pond and has a gazebo. It abruptly ends at a nice view of the track's position pole. If you plan on going out there, I recommend doing it sooner than later, as the cars stop running before the museum closes. They stopped an hour before closing when I was there.
I spent over 2 hours here and I did not cover everything. You could easily spend a half of a day here. The scary part of the museum is that they have a lot of room for expansion near the classic cars.
This should be Birmingham's top attraction and if you could only visit one place while you were in the city, this should be given the priority. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and and learned a lot, not only about cars and motorcycles, but history. I give this place my highest recommendation. It is a must see.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Nov 26, 2022
Upon arrival before noon, we could hear crotch rocket racers racing on the track. You can watch them from the bridge.
Don't mind the life sized snake that greets gib around the bend after the first bridge. You may see big foot, some buffalo, cow and a huge spider and dragonfly hanging out by the track. Short little nature walk by the second bridge.
2.38 mile tracks, 16 turns. The only place you can legally race.
The first mass produced motorcycle was the one produced in 1894 by Hildebrand & Wolfmüller.
There are 3 full floors to walk and two half floors. The BR or basement is off limit, it's for restorations only.
Some really small bicycles or scooters. Found a Buell that looked similar to the one I rode during my Harley Davidson weekend motorcycle class.
Saw some older Moto Guzzi, Indian and Triumph bikes that looked similar to my dad's while I was growing up.
The place is worth a visit, for some enthusiasts, easily could spend a half day or a whole day inside. It can seems overwhelming for sure.
Museum has an affinity for Lotus.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Mike M.AL, AL02Feb 5, 2024
If you like motorcycles, you will love this. There are always bikes, bike parts and bikers to see. I usually spend half of the day just walking around looking at what is for sale and talking to exibitors.

This was an amazing experience for our group. Our guide, Coffee, entertained us with short stories about the history of the museum and the vehicles displayed.

This is a hidden gym about 15 mins outside Birmingham. So many bikes, cars, and a huge pathway across the track and green spaces to really enjoy an afternoon here. Almost always you can catch the Porsches driving around and sometimes motorbikes! Kids and adults alike will love it!

Took my husband here as part of his birthday trip, he was in HEAVEN. There were 5 floors full of motors, cars, motorcycles, and interesting displays. We especially enjoyed the post WWII showcase! I'd definitely recommend this as a staple of Birmingham.
