Hands down the best pizza in downtown. Great thin crust. I order from here at least once a week. Try it with light cheese- it is perfect.
My only suggestion is that they get a computer system and start recording customer information. It is kind of a pain to give my full address, details, etc every time I call.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Adrianna J.Whittier, CA443010Jul 5, 2015
Was out on a shopping spree with a friend and her daughter when someone got a little hangry lol... Anyway she wanted pizza so we stepped in here not knowing what to expect...
We got a couple slices just to hold us over thinking we'd stop somewhere else on the way home... But a couple bites in and we knew we'd been wrong and needed to order a few more... Two slices each in and we're very happy campers! We came to another dress store a couple doors down and found out these guys make their own dough too!! Even better! Definitely recommend if you're hungry!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 2, 2011
I've been on a ny style pizza craze lately. having one of the best up in San Francisco at a place called Escape from NY..now all i have to do is try the real thing in NY. I was in the neighborhood because I had to buy some nursing scrubs and because I HATE shopping hungry and turn into a mad zombie beaver when i'm hungry...we decided to eat here before walking around.
we weren't really greeted when we walked in, even if we were looking around..a hello would be nice, but whatever. typical choices and we got combo #2: 2 slices of pizza of your choice with a small drink for $6.50. I got the garlic tomato basil and pepperoni. The fountain drink tasted weird. all the sodas tasted like syrup might have leaked in from another...so my diet pepsi tasted like lime rootbeer...
As for the pizzas: friend got a veggie, dunno how that was..but seemed pretty good. the tomato basil had a sorry amount of toppings in my opinion, but really tasted the garlic and tasted good. The sauce was nice and savory and tangy. the pepperoni pizza was good...a little salty and i don't mean the meat...just the pizza in general...that was a first, but i still enjoyed it. The crust was nice and thin, a little crispy and chewy. if i'm in the area, i'll stop by again.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Meg C.Vallejo, CA11134206Dec 29, 2014
The good first- delivery was much quicker than expected - 30 minutes after I ordered it it was at my door. The pizza was taken care of well thankfully because it had no plastic bridge to prevent it from being smashed. There was plenty of basil and tomato on the basil tomato and garlic pie.
The bad- The garlic overpowered the more delicate tomato and basil toppings. There was no sauce and the amount of tomatoes on it were no where near enough to satisfy. The pizza was undercooked, so while the edge crust was perfectly crisp and flavorful the rest of it was doughy and limp. I could not hold up a single slice without the end curling down and pulling off the cheese. It was overly greasy but didn't have the rich flavor of a good cheese so I suspect cheap products were used.
All in all management could make a few changes and it would make a huge difference.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sal M.Los Angeles, CA36219092662Oct 20, 2014
Okay so was looking for another spot for lunch on Eat24 and came across this place. Seemed great.
Was I kinda wrong. Ordered a pepperoni slice, garlic chicken sandwich and a side salad.
Pepperoni Pizza was simply okay, nothing stood out. Crust nor pepperoni slices were crispy. Wish it tasted better but some places just have alright pizza.
The garlic chicken sandwich sounded promising but if you see the picture the chicken filet was extremely thin, the bread to chicken ratio was not there at all.
Side salad was okay as well, fresh of course but the portion of dressing was disappointing, half the small container was filled.
Delivery was typical time.
Might order from again if I'm in the mood for greasy pizza which by the way is goes at times.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Keila N.Beverly Hills, CA4995227911652Apr 3, 2011
I remember a neighborhood pizza shop in New York where I used to buy a huge slice of pizza for 50 cents. I know... I'm such a dinosaur.
I've been in LA for almost all my life and never really experienced anything like the pizza I used to have in New York until today. 9th Street Pizza rocks! The flavor was bold and the thin crust was chewy as opposed to the cardboard-like "New York" style pizza sold elsewhere.
I've seen the 9th Street Pizza while meandering through the Fashion District, but I didn't know that it delivered. I ordered a large pepperoni ($17) that was delivered by a super hot guy. Am I ordering it again? Well, yeah!Helpful 27Thanks 0Love this 24Oh no 0 - Jun 22, 2015
The veggie pizza was good. Not sure if it was great. The Italian sandwich was pretty good. I would recommend but the only problem is the inside is small and the eating area is designed for two people. You really can't get the type of pizza you want because you can only get what's available on display and what's gonna come out of the oven. Otherwise you have to wait for the pizza to be made. I would give it a four star if it wasn't for the lack of variety of pizza slices.

Shame on you Yelp, shame on you for leading me astray. You 4.5 star average promised me a delicious pizza. Thin crust perfectly cooked, fresh ingredients, melted cheese, etc, etc...
What I got was disappointment, regret, remorse and just a sprinkle of sadness. I got half hawaiin and half bbq chicken. Both were really bland and the BBQ sauce was just poured on top of the pizza instead of being as the base sauce.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jeffrey K.Los Angeles, CA14332223Jan 10, 2012
Are we going the right way? The 3 of us asked each other that many times as I gazed down at my gps after finding 9th Street Pizza on yelp. There it is! On the left of a one way street.
It was empty. Really empty, but it was late and it seemed a little slow that day. We took a quick glance at the menu while the pleasant old man told us he was all ears. BIG ears he said as he flapped them jokingly. Heh. Me and my two friends decided to get the BBQ Chicky Pizza with extra mushrooms and onions. Only true fatties add unnecessary toppings that are completely necessary.
We gazed as our grumbling stomachs saw him add layer by layer of different toppings, cheese, and sauce. You can tell he definitely enjoys making pizzas. When the pizza came was down, in about 20 minutes, he handed us 3 plates. We continued to devour the pizza.
The pizza had a ton of great flavor. It was piping hot, and nearly every bite has great flavor to it. The cheese stuck on the pizza (Screw you Little Ceasars). Everything about the pizza was very flavorful and I thought that I had definitely found a good pizza alternative.
The reason why I gave 4 stars rather than 5 was that the pizza was slightly thinner than I'd like and I wish the crust was slightly more tasteful. I really do not have many other problems with the pizza and the man was extremely hospitable as well.
Big eared Italian man, you have made a fan out of me.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Andrew S.San Diego, CA4958812Jan 11, 2012
Thank you, Yelpers, for taking me away from the mayhem of LA Live and to this nice corner spot where a dollar in parking will guarantee you a good meal.
Deflated by the flavor-diluted, sodium-laden menu of a chain called California Pizza Kitchen, I never thought I'd find something I'd be proud to call "California pizza."
9th Street Pizza is located in California, has pizza assembly and oven area open to public view (read: kitchen), and serves--well, whaddya know--pizza.
Having had a dream about pepperoni sausage pizza the other night, we decided on the basil/tomato/garlic pie with the pepperoni sausage added on. This was the best pizza I've had since October 2010 in Chicago.
Super flavorful, sturdy crust. Solid sauce and higher-quality mozzarella. Fresh toppings that did not overpower one another but worked in harmony. This was something I missed.
Not even close to the impossibly hearty pies Chicago serves.
It was thin but not floppy enough to be New York.
Refined more-so than Euro-style pizzas I've had.
What I got was uniquely LA. And awesome.
As long as I'm West Coastin', I doubt I'll be having pizza often anywhere else but here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 19, 2013
Was in the Fashion District one Sunday. Hunger struck. We contemplated walking the .8 miles to Cole's or Casey's, but as we strolled by 9th Street, my girlfriend mentioned 9th Street looking good. Although I hate to stray from my humongous list of Yelp bookmarked places when in areas that I am not frequently visiting, pizza sounded good and we had dinner plans just a few hours later so a full meal was not needed.
We stopped into 9th Street Pizza, which had no line and ordered the Italian Sandwich special, a Chicken Parm sandwich with a side caesar salad. Only $7.95. Also got a slice of pizza. Everything we had was tasty and the chicken parm sandwich offered great bread and well melted cheese. and We were able to split the two and both left full. Great prices and good value.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
