Over the next week I really couldn't decide whether I liked it or not. Sometimes I did, sometimes I didn't. I did get some compliments from people and some comments that it looked more professionally cut than before.
I finally realized that this haircut looks really good when I put gel or some other product in it, but looks horrible when I just leave it alone. Which means I'll have to spend more time on it myself, but it's well worth it.
It was $40 for guys, which isn't too bad, especially since I thought it would be $60. I think I'll be back.

The scotch selection is amazing, and I hear they have some great beers, but who care? Go for the scotch!

We shared the sausage pizza, which I found to be pretty good, but hard to handle. The ingredients seemed to fall off the bread, and the sauce was overflowing... Also, I usually love pizza crust and this one seemed a bit undercooked... So not a bad pizza, but not a great one either.
We also got some macaroons for dessert, which I found OK, but they're just not my cup of tea.
We started with cocktails, I got the pomegranate and the girl got the caramel apple. The pomegranate glass was surrounded with sugar, which really added to the taste, but made it difficult to pick the glass up without getting your hands sticky. The apple was stronger (alcohol wise) and fairly sour.
For appetizer we got the Carpaccio di Manzo, which is rare (pretty much raw) beef filet with arugala, parmasian cheese and pine nuts, with some olive oil and lemon vinaigrette. I usually don't like raw beef, but this was definitely the exception. Really tender, the sauce was very subtle, not at all overwhelming, and the pine nuts really added something extra. I would definitely recommend it.
As a main course I got the Lobster Ravioli, which is a dish I often try at Italian places. This one came in a white wine lobster sauce with cherry tomatoes and shrimp. The shrimp were a random addition, that seemed to be thrown in as an afterthought, didn't really fit into the overall dish. The lobster was obviously very fresh, but for some reason I wasn't a fan. The ravioli was too large and too thin, which meant it fell apart no matter how I tried to pick it up.
I also tried the girl's sausage and mushroom risotto, which was pretty good, but I'm not a huge fan of either mushrooms or risotto.
Since it was her birthday we got a small sample of the flourless chocolate cake, which was warm, gooey and had a little scoop of vanilla ice-cream on top. Great dessert, but not very unique or different than the thousands of other restaurants that serve this same dessert.
Overall, if I liked my main dish more, it would be an easy 5 stars. As it was, only 4, but I definitely want to come back.
Make sure to get reservations for the weekend, it gets crowded.

All of that for over $12 is a bit steep though...

We ordered delivery (which is free if you get over $16 worth of food) and got the half Hawaiin and half eggplant. The pizza cost about $25, which seems a bit steep but is actually very reasonable considering it was large enough easily feed 4, maybe even 5 people.
Both the Hawaiin and eggplant were delicious. The sauce was there but not overpowering, the crust was neither crispy nor undercooked. The cheese was the perfect amount. This was one of the few times when I woke up excited to have leftovers for lunch.
Their furniture is more affordable than the other places on that street, but of better quality than Ikea. Definitely worth checking out if you're buying furniture in the area.

The Standard Rooftop Bar

The bar is pretty cool, and I mean that literally. Their heat lamps look like they're about to burst into flames, but they're distributed so widely apart that most of the roof remains pretty cold. Although the view is pretty cool... it's still downtown LA, not New York.... so the $20 cover just isn't worth it.

The bar itself is really cool. Lots of space, but for large groups and for more intimate surroundings. The bar tenders seem really nice and there's no problem getting to the bar. What else can you ask for?
