Great food - closer to authentic Mala. They have a good selection of protein and veggies as well! If you can handle spice well enough, I recommend getting medium.

We are always down to try a new shabu place and my friend recommended Mikiya. It did not disappoint! We got the basic option, which was still plenty, with the house and spicy miso broths. I tried not to get full off the minced wagyu with rice and cold plates but kept going back for more. And the ice cream options hit the spot after an amazing meal. The service was spectacular and Van took good care of us. We will definitely be back!

Located right below the SFSU dorms, this place is truly a gem. This spot has been on my list for quite some time & I've heard great reviews. Finally had the fancy to try it tonight which was perfect for the windy weather. The restaurant is a spacious with lots of seating, clean, well lit and very nicely renovated. It's also individual pots & there was good ventilation. Our server explained the menu to us and told us that the best option for 3 people is to order either the mumu's signature combo or the meat lover combo and add a single's meat combo. The sauce bar had a good variety &Ike's that they placed the actual sauces in a dispense jar which feels much more sanitary. We ended up ordering the meat lovers and singles meat combo which was plenty of food for us. The combos both also come with veggie platters. Vegetable was fresh & came with a big variety. For our meat we ordered the prime black angus ribeye, Waugh beef toro and the Waugh beef chuckroll. The meats were all really good quality! I do wish the slice were a little thinner because they're quite thick. But I'm sure the thickness is to make up for the slices of beef they give per platter. I ordered the Tom yum soup base while my boyfriend and our friend ordered the butter spicy and green pepper. The Tom yum soup base was super flavorful. My boyfriend thought the green pepper couldn't really tell the difference between the green pepper & a typical spicy brother and our friend said the butter spicy was spicy but good. Overall we enjoyed this place & would definitely visit again!

My husband, parents-in-law, and I enjoyed dinner here last night. They wanted to take us out as a congratulations on our pregnancy and to nourish their future grandchild that's cooking in my belly. As I've been slowly coming out of the woods of constant nausea and fatigue I've still been a little guarded when it comes to entering restaurants with strong scents. Luckily shabu shabu isn't as strong scented as kbbq so I knew I would be ok going in. So let's get to the review: Pro - excellent and attentive service. Lots of different types of meats. Vege refills are provided very quickly which is a plus. Huge space so most likely never a wait. Con - it's a group pot for 4 people so I can see some people preferring other shabu shabu places where you get your own pot. I loved that they provided kalguksu and fish cake. Truly enjoyed our visit here and will definitely be back!

Great casual place to get your shabu fix in HB. I was introduced to this last year and go at least 2-3 times a month! My go to is the sukiyaki with toro belly and getting the dumplings with crunchy garlic crunch is a must! They give a good portion of veggies and I love the toro cuts. Kathy has been my server and always makes sure I'm well taken care of (honorable mention to Kaloe!) You won't be disappointed here - the staff, the music, the vibes are awesome, you'll always have a good time!

Incredible and authentic. Moving from LA, finding Shabu Shabu is a lucky treat, especially authentic Japanese. The staff is welcoming and warm. Really cool to have a Sake expert to guide paired selections of sake based on our tastes. We enjoyed the wagyu prime beef and vegetables with authentic hot pot broth. Loved how attentive the staff was to ensuring our hot pot temperature stayed ideal and gently coaching us on how to get the perfect cook on various vegetables and noodles. Loved it, very clean, highly recommend!

Kaizen Shabu rocks! Their sukiyaki is top-notch, and the vibe is just perfect. Service is super friendly too! Only bummer? Parking's a bit of a hassle. I usually park by the market and walk over. Not sure if it's allowed, but it's the closest free spot besides street parking.
