My experience was absolutely amazing. I am a first time client, but I'll be a returning one. There was so many contributors that made this a pleasurable experience.
1. Excellent turnaround time- I scheduled and booked an appointment, within the same week.
2. Timely- the ladies were ready at the scheduled start time. Additionally; I have extremely thick 4c textured hair; I was done within 2 1/2 hours.
3. Professionalism- there were two operators on my hair, the entire time.
4. Covid Friendly- everyone, customers included, in the salon took the proper precautions
5. Affordable- I paid $180 for bra length Senegalese Twists, and they provided the hair
6. Quality- the twists were clean, neat parts and I've had nothing but compliments
7. Overall Atmosphere- the salon was the perfect arena for positive discussions and a sense of comradery
I have nothing negative you say; I'm booking my next appointment
I visited the Plano whiskey cake, for brunch. I was prepared to be highly pleased, bc of all the hype. I was glad I did an Open Table reservation. It was pouring turn rain, & still a lengthy line. I had a great experience; so I was excited when they opened the one in Las Colinas.
The excitement was short lived. I decided to do Happy Hour; unfortunately, a lot of people had the same idea. The good thing was; I was seated rather quickly. Our server was the bubbliest, most personable server. She was highly knowledgeable and very honest. I was pleased that she checked on the table, just enough to make sure everything was satisfactory, but not too much to be annoying.
She was the highlight, bc the food was mehh. We selected deviled eggs, for a starter. Hard to mess up a deviled egg, and they didn't. It was the best dish. The other two were disappointing. We ordered the short rib hash and the red fish. The flavor profile was bland and small portion sizes. If you are going to charge the price of higher seafood establishments; then you can't lack in amount AND taste. A little sodium chloride goes a long way. The food was a one and 1/2 stars but the service was a 5.
I'll go back, but for brunch only.
Nothing bothers me more than empty promises. I shared my Fish City Experience simply to provide feedback. There might have been some service gaps they weren't aware of. However, the company reached out and stated they would be issuing a gift card, in an attempt to correct the multiple subpar service. I didn't expect them to offer anything, accept appreciation for my time and desire to close the gaps.
Even with that; integrity is huge. If you say you're going to do something, then you do it. I even emailed the manager, notifying them the gift card was never received. I did not get any type of response. That displays a lack of integrity, devaluing the customer experience, and no accountability for their actions. I am highly disappointed and remorseful that I ever endorsed their establishment.
It is with a heavy heart that I have to write this view. There was a time where Fish City could do no wrong. As of late, it seems they can do no right. This visit took the cake. Approximately two weeks ago, my fiancé and I visited for lunch. It was a great day outside, so we opted for patio seating. The restaurant must have been short staffed, because there weren't many customers, but there was no hostess to greet us. After we were told, from yelling across the restaurant, to find a seat and she'd bring the menus; we headed outside.
I ordered crawfish, it is in season and my favorite. I selected the most heat available; however, I think the children's tenders have more spice. I had to ask for extra side of seasoning. Of course, it wasn't the same. My first drink was a Moscow mule; I had all mule but very little Moscow. The manager attempted to right the wrong by bringing a popsicle/ alcohol combo. I appreciated the effort, the popsicle was delightful. As a card carrying member of the adult world; I want my alcoholic beverages to contain alcohol. The upside was the staff. They were very energetic and friendly. As a former server, bar tender, and a manager of a restaurant I can differentiate front of house from the back, but I definitely felt there were many areas of opportunities.
Tonight was tough. We ordered two fish and chips, to go orders. Made sure to pick it up timely. It didn't matter. The fish had no crunch. It was extremely soggy with no crisp to it at all. The excess grease told the story that the fish should've been dropped longer. After peeling off all the batter, the cod wasn't even seasoned. It was Gordon's Fisherman's bland. The fries had the grease time the cod should have. They were hard and not remotely seasoned.
Overall, displeased would be an understatement. I would love to say I'm up for trying again, but I'm not sure.
Writing this review pains me, but not nearly as much as the dining experience. Saltgrass is a family favorite, and I was not up for the task of cooking. My fiancé and I went, after work. There was no wait, not too surprising for a Wednesday.
I could tell our server, Joshua, was just starting his shift. The white buttoned up shirt, was especially crisp. He was personable, throughout the evening. We both ordered 2 top shelf long islands, they were perfection.
I ordered a smothered, prime rib, kale salad, and herb rice. My fiancé had ribeye, loaded baked potato, and a Caesar salad. I asked for medium rare, easy on caramelized onions, and he wanted medium. When our food came out; my meat was not smothered & my fiancé's meat was well done. His plate was taken, as was mine. Manager Chris apologized and said the order would be remade. It took another 10 minutes for the new plates. My prime rib was smothered, but there was no easy on the onions. Unfortunately, his order was now medium rare, bordering on rare. We then met Manager Shane, who explained there were new grills. I was hoping third time would be a charm, but to no avail. He was now presented with beef jerky.
Having worked in the service industry; I'm good to grant a small margin for error, but this was ridiculous. Three steaks, at a steakhouse, and not one made correctly. Meanwhile, I am conflicted, because I can't enjoy my meal when his is not correct, I am southern. We were there over 2 hours, but we were treated to a singular dessert item. Naturally, they comped his meal, after I explained I wasn't going to pay for it. I understand there are issues surrounding the liquor items, but two meals were ruined, time was wasted, but a dessert was offered.
I am disappointed that a Landry's company would behave in such a manner.
I am catching up on my reviews, so I hope that since my visit; the experience has improved. My finance, & I, were initially going to go to Copeland's. I hadn't had Brio's since I moved from San Antonio. I absolutely loved their lamb chops, lobster bisque, and Bellinis. It was too warm for bisque, but I wanted to take a go at the lamb chops.
We were seated right away, a very empty house for a Saturday lunch. Our server, Christine, couldn't have been more friendly. She was almost better suited for a Disney princess. We placed our drink orders, Moscow Mules. The second star is for the beverages, because it was the savior of the day. The bartender definitely understood her ratios. That's where the pleasantries stop.
I ordered the lamb chops, medium rare, and a side of mushrooms. My fiancé ordered the pork chops. Both of these are Brio's staples; maybe I should have gone for the paper clip instead of the staple. (A little corny humor) My lamb was rubbery and extremely, over cooked, my spinach was extra wilted, but the mushrooms were ok. My plate was taken, but as a southern gentlemen; my fiancé is not going to eat, while I have no food. They brought us two new plates, and my order was fine. It was my fiancé's turn to have a failed plate. His pork chop was almost jerky.
By this time, we are enjoying two more beverages and Manager Katherine comes over. She was extremely apologetic, stated she saw the error, and offered us a complimentary dessert, each. This is all fine and dandy, except I don't have a super sweet tooth. I hate to come across as a food elitist, but certain expectations come along with certain establishments. If I am going to pay a 3 figure ticket price; there should be minimal errors.
I would have given just one star, but the ladies' personalities and perfect drinks earned a second one. Will I be back? Yes, but I'll wait a little more time, or take a crack at the one in San Antonio, the next time I go.
