The best deal for groceries you can find anywhere. Shopping TJ's for a family of five keeps us within budget every week. Staff is super helpful, friendly and shopping is easy. They never trick you to over-shopping with sneaky bogo deals. It's always the same price every time.

My only qualm is there is no delivery. Also, if I could make it just a little better I would have refill available. I wonder how many plastic containers of coconut hair masks I will throw into the landfill in my lifetime. If only I could bring back the same trader joe containers I throw into the recycling bin every week. It appears to me, because they produce so much of their own products it could be the first refill grocery chain in the US. Wouldn't that be amazing?

      Until then, keep shopping!

Every Christmas I enjoy driving to the country in search of a charming tree farm. Last year, I decided tree shopping was just a chore that needed to be done in a short amount of time. This is when I discovered Alhambra Tree Farm. Only 20 mins away from Crockett, I still enjoyed a country drive down winding roads through the Alhambra Valley.

It was a lovely rainy day in December 2015 as I and my 3 year old son explored the neat rows displaying a nice variety of trees. The service on the lot was helpful and for the first time I purchased garland for my home. I can't remember the price, but I remember thinking it was totally reasonable. My son had a memorable time, I took many photos of course. We picked the perfect tree and they helped us tie it down to my car.

This is a great spot, convenient to West Contra Costa. I even encourage folks in Vallejo to check it out if you want a lovely 40 minute drive.

So stoked the market is back!

This is a fabulous stop for flowers, cheese, nuts, organic produce all in the charming downtown of Crockett, CA.
The Farmer's Market really adds to the community or anyone's Bay Area staycation at the Burlington. Bicyclist, stop by the market to grab some trail mix and water for fuel before heading to George Miller Trial. Art lovers, The Milano Art Gallery across the street is opened during the hours of market, so you can stop and see some amazing art before or after you grab some goods.

This small but active hub is charming and yummy. A nice spot for Bay Area wanderers and explorers alike.

      Saturdays 10-2pm, May through October.

Starmont is the reason why you enjoy living in West County. Although you're away from central Bay Area activities, living in West County is a deal, and a skip away from Napa wineries.

It was a sunny day and my friend just quit her job. She was really stressed out because of all the events that lead to her resignation. Me being an optimist with extra time on my hands recognized the weather that day was beautiful. If you're home feeling gloomy on a Wednesday afternoon that is 72 degrees and sunny, and you live 20 miles from wine country, you get in the car and go to wine country.

I convinced her the fresh air and sun will do her good and we started out wandering Napa. Then we saw the sign for Starmont. As we drove the back roads and pulled up to the parking lot it was exactly what we were searching. Nice outdoor space that is a heck of a lot nicer then my backyard but casual and comfy, so not too pretentious.

The staff was really nice, knowledgeable and the wine was wonderful. After a couple hours my friend started to feel better.

The theme is music, so you have cute descriptions of wine "paired" with the right tune to enjoy the music (rock music, again pretty casual vibe). It's cute. There are fire pits and plenty of umbrellas and seating for sunny days.

      We will go back again.

If you are in pain, don't put it off any longer. The drugs don't heal anything and can be scary addicting. Getting a chiropractor is the thing to do. If your schedule is packed with work and kid related errands, this office is a good place to squeeze in an extra 15 mins for your health.

The office is tidy, and parking is easy. The receptionist is nice and, added bonus, it's a family friendly environment where I can bring my toddler. There are kids movies in the lobby, healthy snacks and my son can go in the patient room with me. At first, I thought there is no way I can bring my kid into a small room where I am being adjusted. My son becomes worried when I get my eyebrows done and under my breath say "owe." Me on a noisy chair that jerks? Forget it. But one day I had to take my son and it was okay. Dr. Amso, a family man himself, talked to my son, explaining what was happening to me and a list of silly toddler conversation topics. My kid was completely comfortable as well as amused. My son loves going to the chiropractor with me. In fact, I hear entire families, mom, dad, cousins, chat it up with Dr Amso in other patient rooms. Having my husband there for support is beneficial as well as not scheduling child care around my appointments, especially since I am usually there for no longer than 10-15 minutes.

I injured my back over a year ago and foolishly just lived with the pain, occasional ER visit with administered pain numbing shots. Most of the time, admittedly, I felt okay, but constantly worried, wondering what activity would bring back the excruciating pain that would lay me in bed on drugs for a couple of days. Because I had never been to a chiropractor I procrastinated in researching and booking an appointment. Instead I was "careful" and took too many pain killers when I felt the discomforting signs of possible spasm.

Then the week before Christmas 2015, I was in so much pain (again) I could not stand or walk. And while this was nothing new, I did not like the idea of the familiar pain ruining my Christmas. So I got on yelp and found a list of 4-5 star chiropractors in the area and made some calls. Doctor Amso's office was the first to call back and I booked a same day appointment. That first appointment in the waiting room, I was so uncomfortable, I thought if this first adjustment doesn't work, I have to call my family and tell them I went to the ER down the street. However...

with that first adjustment I felt much better. I was stiff when I drove home that first evening, but I drove HOME and not to the ER. The next day we looked at my x-rays and I could see what was exactly was happening in my back and hips. It was a mess, but I was assured considering my age and health, it would just take some work and I could recover. That first week I knew with Amso's attention I would be okay. By the end of the first week, requiring 3 short visits, I was doing much better and my Christmas was saved.

He's a good listener and if you are in tune with your body and able to communicate what you feel, chances are you will leave his office feeling pretty good.

With weekly appointments I began to feel much better in 3 to 4 weeks. In 8 weeks, my back and hips were looking and feeling like their old selves. I realized it was pretty silly/irresponsible to have gone on that long in pain, and for all those months.
